Can they announce prior to the Super Bowl?
I think so. It's a 2 week gap now before the Super Bowl, so there's time for these guys to do a little personal business without interfering with their jobs significantly. I believe if they wanted to hire Kubiak, let's say, they could announce that end of week and still have him finish his current job a week later.

It depends how you evaluate and rank the QB's.

Suppose the draft goes Caleb Williams and Drake Maye one/two... do you like Jayden Daniels or someone else at #3?

That might be a big reach, especially if you like Bo Nix, JJ McCartthy or Mike Penix as much or more than Daniels.

In that case, I'm either trading back a few spots and/or taking OT Joe Alt or another OT, then taking one of those QB's at the top of the second round. You could even trade back up into the first with that extra ammo to target your QB.
Take it to the draft thread. Nothing to do w/ Mayo's coaching staff.

Not sure what you mean by that comment.

There has been a contingent of fans that say the Belichick kids only have jobs because of their father, well all three of Gary Kubiak's sons, including Klint (mentioned in the most recent link) are coaches in the NFL...most (all?) got their starts via their father.

You should, the thing is making sure you get guys you want, just not guys that are there. I don't believe in the QB that will likely be there at 3, so I would be taking a LT at the top of the draft; will a QB with potential be there at the top of 2/bottom of 1? One that has enough tools to fit in whatever O system we'll be running?
It's a pretty deep draft class and the guys at the top of the second have tools, they have as much risk involved with them as Maye or Williams... both of whom have warts. There is no perfect prospect, it's written into the name... prospect.

The 49ers traded three first round picks for Trey Lance, right now their best QB was the very last player taken in the draft. There's good players everywhere, the Patriots need to be great at draft evaluation.

Well, I mean I like Daniel's at 3 yes, but as you mentioned we also need a LT.. I think Daniel's will fall to us IF we stay at #3..
There's a possibility Williams or Maye falls to them as well, there's only two picks ahead of us.

Daniels has tools, my concern with him is similar to concerns Mac had coming out... all of his weapons are going to get drafted, they were wide open in college, his line was vastly superior to opposing defenses. He is skinny, and anyone who reads this site knows that's a problem... ask Thornton or Marcus Jones.

By all accounts Joe Alt will step into the left tackle spot and dominate for the next decade. If Mayo and Groh don't like Daniels as much as you do, they might go tackle and find a QB later. The first two rounds have similar quality.

Oh yeah, and it also depends who Mayo hires to be his offensive coordinator and what scheme he wants to run, the QB has to fit the system (< look, a coaching comment).

Maybe, but nepotisim refers to family members working for the same organization as the father. Following in a fathers footsteps is not in of itself nepotisim. There are ample examples of sons of coaches becoming coaches that went on to work for different teams. Kubiak coming here to coach is not a sign of nepotisim. Neither is Shannahan or Steve if he went on to coach for another team. Now if Steve followed Bill to ATL as many hoped or wanted, that would've been 100% nepotisim.

Can’t accuse mayo and co. of rushing into the OC decision, which is fine with me.

I like the idea of bringing in talented young coaches, who bring fresh ideas and modern concepts, but I am a bit worried about the lack of grizzled veterans on the coaching staff so far. They need at least a couple of guys who have been coaching in the NFL for 20+ years and have seen it all and add some old man toughness to the group. Where are the Ivan Fears and Dantes on the staff. Seems particularly important with a rookie head coach with only five years of experience in coaching at any level.

That’s why I like idea of going after the vet special teams coach for Carolina, who was also the interim HC last year but was let go after they hired their new head coach. Hopefully he is just focusing on the OC position first and then will add a couple older veterans in the next couple weeks, as position coaches, or as an assistant HC.

Every one of the guys you mentioned above got a job in the NFL through nepotism, because of some connection to their father. Same with Buddy Ryan's sons and all the coaches who were legacy coaches.

Just admit you hate the name Belichick... at least then we'd know you're being honest.

I agree, there's no need to rush. Find the right guys who mesh with the kind of program you want to run.

You're already an *******, don't be a dunce as well.

The irony here is that there is so much nepotism if football, but in Boston, there can't be too much criticism of this phenomenon not only because of the people who own the Patriots, but the media is weirdly nepotistic as well. Just because your father or grandfather were sports reporters, it doesn't mean you have to be!!!

The real irony is the past three seasons the Patriots and the nepo-babies working as coaches have had a top five defense every year in points allowed... including 5th best this season despite dragging the 32nd worst offense around behind them.

I wouldn't care if the coaches were the great grandchildren of Hitler as long as they were wildly successful... but the name "Belichick" will live rent free in the heads of a few here for years to come.

You know who they are... the same jokers who thought Brady and BB were in a competition and hated one another. The same ones who, if you didn't whine how BB was the next coming of the anti-Christ, you were on "team Bill." Laughable.

Of course you wouldn't.
