Bill’s first offer…

The best thing BB could do is just to retire. His style of coaching is outdated (expecting unquestioned fealty) and would not go over well with players nowadays who are a lot more individualist than they were 20 years ago.

He got away with a lot of things because he was winning hand over fist. He would have no such latitude, anymore.
The best thing for whom?

That’s why I think Bill is going to retire.

Basically these teams would be getting a “rental” with Bill. What’s in it for them? Bill will break the record and then probably call it a career after that. How can those teams have a vision and plan for long term success with a 71 year old coach who plans to step away sooner than later.

Not all things should be about long term, some teams just need some guidance and get out of the stink.

In business in general, if there's a top of the market professional* available, it's better to have him for 2 years than not have at all. Once there are frameworks and better methods in place competent people can continue the job.

* If BB is still a top of the market HC remains to be seem, I think he can still coach at a high level, maybe teams are afraid not about BB the coach but whis whole package of GMing and approach to team building.

Only our stupid franchise...
And the dozen or so others who don't want him, including Dallas now.
It'd be pretty funny if nobody picked him up but I don't see that happening.

Bill to the Bills?

That is a match made in heaven for him, roster is set, location, I think the people there and players would welcome him.

I like McDermott as a coach and he is miles better than anything the Bills had in the past 15 years, but another elimination and we know how thing work.

I could see Jones hiring him to try to get them a Lombardi. There is no coach more dangerous than Belichick in the tournament.
Yeah, Buffalo was scared ****less when they crushed Bill's defense in the playoffs a couple of years ago.

If the Eagles are keeping Sirianni and the Cowboys McCarthy, I refuse to believe McDermott gets fired being the 2nd seed and winning a playoff game already. He's a home game against the Chiefs away from the AFCCG.

I agree with that but this time is a home game and the Chiefs are not a very good team this season so if they lose again to KC making it 3 years in a row, that's a factor

What better than turn a franchise around? Just like he did here. The similarities are so close they almost rhyme:

Pats make it to SB and lose in 96-97, BB is head coach four years later
Falcons make it to SB and lose in 2016-17, BB is head coach seven years later (holy **** time flies)
Wasn't Bill the DC of the Pats team that lost that SB in 96?

It's funny how some fans here already have Bill winning a SB and turning a franchise around in spite of his poor coaching the last 4 years.

He doesn't have as many choices as we thought he would.
I didn't think he would have as great market as the media reported. He's 72 and ran his team into the ground. I get that he's Bill Belichick, but he's not 59 year old Bill Belichick. You wouldn't want him shopping for groceries so you need a GM too, and one that he approves of. Further, I am sure there's teams the he doesn't want to work for, either. Changing to "his' culture is going to take a bit, and you need buy in from the owner on down thru the leaders in the locker room. I don't think there's a lot of teams that are clamoring for him at this time.

As far as Philly goes, Bill said to Brady, paraphrasing one pre-game "the only thing to cheer in Philly is the national anthem." I don't see that a good fit, nor do I see them dumping their guy now, either.

He's already signed and sealed with Atlanta.
Dallas never wanting him is similar to my feelings about Margot Robbie.

I remember discussing Bill's options at the beginning and I thought for sure he'd have plenty of them. And it wasn't really about the wins. I thought Bill would bring in fans and dollars to his new team. But his age, as you mentioned, is clearly a factor I didn't consider. Now it looks like his choices are dwindling.

Arthur Blank, negotiating with himself vs the best hardline negotiator in the history of the NFL.

Hi Bill, this is Jerry. We're going to stick with McCarthy.
I never really thought the Cowboys were going to hire Belichick, but I am very, very surprised they are sticking with McCarthy.

Bill must have no other option. Atlanta has no defense & no QB. They may have less talent than the Pats. Bill will be lucky to break the wins record before he's run out of town.

Why McDaniels or O'Brien would follow him there is beyond me. At least NE is likely to have Maye or Daniels to work with.

LOL--word I hear through a box owner down there (OK, from an immediate family member who always sits in that box), Belichick has wanted Atlanta all along. Smoke and fire. Here it comes.
