Rap: Mayo is the new HC

I remember a quote from Ben Coates regarding playing under Pete Carroll, about how it was so much more comfortable and relaxing playing under Carroll, after chafing under Bill Parcells.

So, how did those Carroll coached teams do?

Sorry Ben, but you are being paid very well to put up with a hard ass coach.

We fans don’t care if you are comfortable under the HC, we just care that you win.
Wake up Champ, this isn't the 1960s. Gotta keep up with the times. There's already FAs considering coming to NE, which they wouldn't do w/ BB here.

I guess there’s a few who believe that Bill was the one preventing Mac Jones greatness.

I mean, I doubt Bill was a huge fan of Mac but Mac's problem was Mac. I even read that Bill approached the Krafts during the offseason to trade Mac but the Krafts wanted to give him a chance w/ BoB.

Saban hit the nail on the head when he said Mac had the John McEnroe mentality. The dudes mind isn't made for the QB role and Bill recognized that.

Bill didn't help him, at all, but Corky sucks all by himself too.

My main concern is that I hope Mayo has the humility to allow whoever comes in as OC to have a strong voice in personnel and system.
If he tries to "prove" he can run offense too, that will fail so fast. (Kinda like BB last year)
That's not his style. He welcomes opinions and collaboration.

Meriweather wasn’t a great 1st rounder, but he wasn’t a bad draft pick either; just overrated statistically.

Jon Beason, who was regularly mocked to the Pats, should've been the pick. They were aging badly at LB.

Not only Beason: another reason why Stomper was a Bad pick is that he wasn't even the best Safety available when he was taken.

Wait, are you calling for Mac to be given another chance? Moon ball Jones? WTF, lol man you're killing me.
Until he is moved, I'm assuming he's the starting QB next year - I think his *****ing to Kraft and the media over the last 2 years paid off. I really do.

I didn't have a problem with the pick at the time... My first choice at RB was DeAngelo Williams, but I understood why LaMa, my second choice, appealed to Bill.
DeAngelo would have been so nice here. He ended up playing for like a decade in Carolina.

Yeah, I can totally see him go cry everyday to Kraft that Bill was mean to him !

Is Klemm not getting a fair hearing ?.....I honestly don't know but he was hardly left with a bumper crop of tackles and guards to work with ??......Yes he needs to take some of the blame for the OLine performance but does he get another year ? At the end of the day of he is sacked then thats just the way it goes I guess.

I wonder if BB knew this?
According to reports, yes he knew.

Good older article on Mayo if you have The Athletic
Couple Highlights:
-Spike called him Bill Belichick 2.0
-As a player he sat in on the coaches meeting, which players don't do.
-Him and Brady were the 2 hardest workers on the team, he was compared to Brady on the same level in terms of work ethic and love of the game.
-A Harvard research fellow that wrote 2 books on how organizations select high-impact leaders met with Mayo
"“There are a lot of people who can do X’s and O’s, but what the research tells us is that this characteristic — ‘intellectual brilliance’ — is the thing most likely to distinguish them,” Mukunda said. “It’s related to IQ but not the same. It’s horsepower with openness to new ideas, creativeness, broadness in taste.”
It’s something, Mukunda said, that most owners don’t consider, “a market inefficiency of stunning scale in the NFL.” And it’s a trait that Mayo personifies.

“If you get a chance to pick someone like Jerod, you pick them,” Mukunda said. “I don’t know if it’s with the Patriots or some other team, but Jerod will be a head coach in the NFL one day.

Absolutely awful to not even conduct a search. Absolutely awful to hire a coach without even having a GM.

Hopefully I’m wrong, but I think we are in for a long 5-10 years.

Congrats to the anti-Belichick mafia on here: you got what you wanted; now you’re going to get what you deserve.
What were we getting sticking with Belichick? How many increasingly bad seasons were we supposed to wait? Assuming we wanted him did he even intend on coaching long enough to have him start this rebuild? I consider myself pro-Patriots, not anti-Belichick. If there was a good path with him I would have preferred it, but there wasn't afaik.

the problem is people are acting like Bill is long for this league and we just got rid of 4 years of Bill. Bill is 72. he wants to beat shulas record and retire THATS IT.

the way mayos contract was structured was such that they assumed Bill would beat it next year. he's not beating it here. Also, the way he was handling the roster/coaching staff where both are getting worse each year is untenable. 2-3 more years of that and this team could really be in the tank
