I don’t understand the Porzingis usage/rest formula at all. I’d think this would be a game he sits given last night’s minutes.
Would be interesting to see them play without either of the two Js.
Hauser really needs his confidence back.
I think Celtics without Tatum and Brown (Porzingis, White, Holiday) are still a ~.500 team and good enough to win at home vs. a 12-18 team. Obviously margin of error shrinks.Tatum does not look good. Hauser looks even worse. So much for Hauser replacing Brown. They had two full days off before this back-to-back, so maybe Porzi will go two days in a row? If both Jays sit out, can White and Holiday step up?
We're deep enough into the season now and KP and DW have proven time and again they're reliable quality offensive players(among other thibgs), so tge scoring load, including crunch time, should be more balanced. How about just play basketball? Pass the ball to the open guy. Open guy shoots. It seems to work for 99% of the game.
Great post. Barring injuries this is really the only challenge for them to hang #18. And this is a Mazulla issue if it doesn’t happen consistently, especially down the stretch of games. Tatum and Brown are the hometown heroes but it’s really concerning how much hero ball they play down the stretch in close games. And Tatum is worse than Brown in these situations. People will say to chill out because they’re cruising but it really doesn’t matter how much talent they have if they reduce the offense to this 2020-23 stuff and disintegrate when it matters. They will play teams in the playoffs who will challenge them. I believe this should be a 65 win team…historically great, based on their players. It’s a next level masterpiece by Stevens. We're deep enough into the season now and KP and DW have proven time and again they're reliable quality offensive players(among other thibgs), so tge scoring load, including crunch time, should be more balanced.
They need to start doing this NOW. The whole point of having 3 4 or 5 guys on the floor who can all score is to keep defenses from focusing on one or two guys. They should always get a decent shot. Plus both JT and JB should be getting more open looks and easier driving Iopportunites.
That is how you win a championship.
I can understand earlier in the season Tatum and Brown getting the bulk of the shots. They were the guys and maybe didn't totally trust the new guys. Or DW in an expanded role.
Now they know better.
Tatum is a matchup nightmare for most teams but so is KP.
And DW just always does the right thing and has a variety of shots and moves in his arsenal. Jrue and JB have their offensive strengths as well.
No reason for the ball not going to the open guy. And if that's a 3, b4 he shoots hw should be watching his teammates since some body else may have a dunk or layup.
They do play this way sometimes. But not enough
It is weird they always have their best games with backs to wall and ****tiest ones when they’re seemingly invincible. That's it, I'm betting on the Celtics now
Don’t understand the Kornet stuff at all. Is it matchup specific? Dude doesn’t play at all and then starts? Queta has been doing well.Tatum, Porzi, and Horford are out tonight. Houser and Kornet starting.

To your previous general point, Mamba Blanca said in the broadcast during the game winning assist to Kornet, "I don't think Jaylen Brown makes that play a year ago." One can hope that someone with the megabrain of Jaylen can evolve... Maybe it's actually happening after who knows how long. Here to give Jaylen Brown props for his recent play, especially his team oriented approach down the stretch of the last two games. Maybe he isn’t as terrible as I often write but the issues I point out aren’t nothings either. But his whole game has adapted nicely recently. Rather than putting his head down and dribbling into the paint, he’s anticipating double teams and looking to kick to the perimeter before he gets suffocated. His shot selection is better and he isn’t forcing contested 3s. In the end it benefits him more than anyone. His field goal pct and efficiency improve and he seems to enjoy the game more than when he goes 10/23. 7 turnovers last game were bad but they weren’t really me-first hero ball turnovers…more just issues with his passing, arm checking, and dribbling he needs to improve.
Hopefully Derrick White’s emergence as the team’s playmaking alpha dog has taken some playmaking/shot creating pressure off of Brown (and hopefully Tatum will follow suit.)
