Ian Rapaport echoes what I’ve been saying

It's due time to start blaming BOB.

O'Brien has been part of the problem. There are a lot of problems on this offense and it isn't just the QB. If Mac Jones was such a historically bad QB as some want to make him and he is the only real problem with this offense, even Zappe should have radically changed this offense and would have been able to score at least a field goal against the Chargers or wouldn't have completely fallen apart in the second half of the last two games.

No QB with sufficient talent/leadership traits to elevate those around him. No legit weapon, let alone weapons on offense. Poor offensive line talent or solid coaching (even Dante would be hard-pressed to elevate this group, and I won't dump all of the blame on Klemm), or cohesiveness on it. Lack of focus and discipline (constant mental error's and penalties), which means the players have either tuned BB out, or he's lost his mojo. Horrible ST. Combine all of that with consistently poor drafting and obtaining talent by other means, along with a failure to adapt to the way the game is being played offensively and how roster's are being constructed, and that's why we are where we're at. BB has been a treasure to the franchise and deserves his rightful accolades, but it's time for him and the way he's been doing things that last 7 or more seasons to move on. It'll take time to get back to greatness, but it can be done, especially with the right GM/Scouting Department/Coaching Staff.

BOB is definitely part of the problem. There is no way Mac should have regressed this much. Mac was never talented and BOB didn't do much to shield his physical limitations. It also seems by O'Brien's comments the last few weeks he's trying to distance himself from what's going on. With his "you'll have to ask Bill" and mentioning he didn't know about Rourke until he met him in the hallway.

No he didn’t. He responded with actual things that happened. I’ve watched every single game, I don’t need to watch the film. There’s clearly more than one problem with this offense. Play in and play out someone blows an assignment, commits a drive killing penalty etc. None of that matters though. I’m just trying to point out that Rob was engaging you in a good faith discussion and you came back with a childish response. It’s crap like that which is destroying this board. No discussion. Person x says blank, person y says blank, person x can’t believe someone disagreed with them and comes back with a personal insult or a mind numbing gotcha. It’s old man.
We disagree.

There has been reports that O'Brien wanted to call a much more modern offense than he is running. He wanted to incorporate a lot of what they were doing in Alabama with RPOs and other things. The reports say that Belichick has been overruling him and making him run a more traditional offense. If true, he might just be really frustrated for having his hands tied and getting the blame. But of course it could just be O'Brien passing the buck by leaking this to take the blame off of him since he is likely looking for a head coaching job.

Bedard said that the second half on Sunday, the o-line gave up a 64% pressure rate. That means every ten times Zappe dropped back, over six times the o-line couldn't block.
How is he defining pressure? Many successful nfl plays have “pressure”.

I am sure he is using the NFL standard. And whether the play is successful or not, a 64% pressure rate is about double what is acceptable for a pressure rate.

I didn't write a long list of excuses. I did a long list of reasons why this offense sucks beyond the bad QB play.

And I never said Reagor's dropped pass was the biggest issue for Mac. I am pointing out that if he caught the ball, the Pats would have won that game. It was one game. Not the entire season.

And I said Henry might be top 10 at his position.
10 had 12 drives in that game. He put up 17 points, 7 of which were after a turnover at the +25, 7 more were nothing to do with him when Rham ran 64 yards.
He dropped back 44 times trying to put points on the board.
The game ended with him throwing an Int.
A mediocre QB wins that game. Whether a pass got dropped or not.

Do you dispute that with a mediocre QB LV, LA, Indy and Washington at least are wins? How could you?

The WR's are mediocre at best. Special teams is bad. The Oline has been up and down but mostly down. A mediocre QB doesn't fix any of that.
Mediocre- GM, WRs, O line, STs... I don't think there is 1 team other than this one I can honestly say needs EVERYTHING offensively.

I am pointing out you could have won some of those game with Mac Jones and better players around him just as much as you can argue that they could have won those games with a better QB.

He is using the same metric he has been using in the ten years or so that he has been covering the Patriots. The same metric he used when Cam was QB. When Brady was QB. When Mac was QB.

Rapoport also opined that with just mediocre quarterback play this season, the 3-11 Patriots could be looking at a nine- or 10-win season.

GM
He...he... don't forget Chad Wide-Left.
LOL meanwhile all the realistic fans know:

Only mediocre QB play and they get 9-10 wins? No.

Defense is good enough to hang around, but not take over games. No defense is. You need an offense to score against teams like Dallas, Miami who bullied the Pats. Struggling Buffalo got 25 on them and needed a Mac led game winning drive to win. A bad KC offense got 27 with an assist from that Zappe INT. The Saints put up 27 on them. A QB needs more than what the Pats have on offense.

49ers are the so called best D in the NFL and they just allowed 29 to a terrible Cards team.
A garbage touchdown with :47 left hardly qualifies. And their 2 best DL were down, Bosa got banged up. The score was 45-22 with few minutes left. They’ve played really well since week 3. So wait for next week to better judge SF defense. They play Baltimore.

You could easily be 7-7 with a MEDIOCRE QB. 10 would not be 7-7 on any roster in the NFL.

If that is the case then it is yet another reason for Bill to go. We need to modernize the offense and start to get some personnel in there that can run it.

So we are talking about 12 pass attempts 11 coming after he threw a pick that put him down 14 and the defense began ignoring the run. You think that has something to do with the pressure on 12 passes being higher than average?

I call BS. Show me these “reports”.
