I don't think most folks who prefer Zappe over McCorkle right now believe Zappe is the "answer" or even "good". I just appreciate the reprieve from:

Looks like Zappe will be the starting QB for the remainder of this seas after tonight.

so, going into camp next preseason, wha5 does the QB room look like? Is Mac still here? Is it Zappe, Jones, rookie, FA vet? Is it Zappe's job to lose, or an open competition? One thing I’d expect is that if it is an open competition ties would go to Zappe even if the other contender is a high first round draft pick.
If Zappe plays pretty good through out this year the plan should probably change to surrounding him with weapons and protection and getting a quarterback down the road if needed.

Could take a QB in draft. Have him sit behind Zappe .

I think he has a ton of determination and grit. Unfortunately, I don't think he is a starting caliber QB.

great game by Zappe tonight. But I do not think he has a stronger arm than Mac.
Arm strength is Zappe's biggest weakness with height a close second
The 2nd TD to Henry had more zip on it than any pass that length I’ve seen 10 throw. First one too.

I wish they would be more aggressive when leading instead of always playing not to lose. The team has been like this for years not and it is aggravating.
I am really glad they won tonight, it's always a pleasure to beat the Steeler !!
Belichick, who used to be one of the most aggressive coaches early in Brady's career has steadily become one of the most conservative; the trend goes back a decade or more.

I don't care about the draft. We traded down and out of the first round so many times that it is hard to put too much faith in it. Mac wasn't the safe pick he was supposed to be and who knows about our next shiny qbs. I prefer to enjoy the wins here and now.
I'm not going to re-hash the past here. Let me simply say: no matter what happens over the next month, their philosophy regarding acquiring and keeping talent on offense must change.

Again one game..what does that do? Mac had a comeback against a better team and still sucks.

As Parcells would say.."she did ok, but let's not put him in Canton just yet.."
Was Parcells making a porno when he said that?

I’m a Patriots fan, not a Zappe fan, but it’s pretty important to note Zappe played well against a 7-5 team, on the road, on a short week, with hardly any WRs. People liked to discredit him because he only beat Cleveland or Detroit last year. His arrow, and the team’s arrow, is pointing in the right direction.

Yup, I was thrilled with the way he coached the second half but that's only because I was rooting for a steelers comeback. Belichick's conservate nature allowed that to almost become a reality. The dude coaches to not lose very consistently.

Zappe needs to go on a heater for me to think he would be a valid bridge QB for a rookie draft pick.

"He won tonight. Therefore, he would've won 6 other times."

The state of you mfs tonight lol
This is how starved we are for some glimmer of hope we can score against 11 teenagers on a soccer field. You have to admit, he played well for his 4th start with a team that should be completely mentally exhausted.

Most important part of that plan definitely being “if”

exactly. Trubusky is a perfect example of why expecting a generational QB just because we draft high is a fallacy.
Except that the 2 QBs a the top of this draft are much better prospect that Trubisky.

You still have a higher chance of hitting on a QB drafting them high.
