This is even more damning for Belichick. His assessment of Zappe was right when he cut him. But instead of trying to get a real back up QB like Wentz or Ryan or whoever, he played musical chairs with a bunch of developmental QBs who weren’t even really worth the practice squad spot.

I’m torn over the first half highlight. Tough choice between TT’s “decoy dancing” in the backfield and coverage of Bentley’s split lip. Not a good sign, Zappe’s biggest fan (my wife) who has been waiting for this day all year us sound asleep on the couch. Even our dog is snoring away!

There has been a modest upsurge in his level of effort and - violence - the last couple of weeks, but he has not sustained that through an entire game. I suspect his problems had abated somewhat, so that today's incident might be a setback/reijnury of whatever his medical/injury problem might be. This is all speculation, of course, but as we have no better explanation at present, I'll tentatively hold on to it, pending something better. If you have a better explanation, let's hear it.

It's the same for Elliott. I think it's hard to consistently stay hard hitting and energetic if you need to squeeze through badly held gaps and break hella tackles for most of your carries. I'd imagine the poor offensive play all around a really makes for a rougher beating at RB, as you have to make the plays with your body.

Never seen worse mismanagement of the QB position than this. With how stupidly simplistic this offense is they should just put in Malik next week with Zappe as backup.
