Belichick’s Trade Value.

If you believe that, I’ve got this bridge for sale.

Brady wouldn’t have gotten on the field with Manning there.

And that team was far more flawed, other than QB, than the Pats. Pats had a defense - a great one.

Double-digit superfoods is nonsense.
And that would have been a damn shame knowing what we know about the GOAT. I've never understood the theory that if he was prevented to become what he did that it means that he wasn't all that all great after all. Talk about nonsense. There is no if this, if that or the other thing. He wasn't a Maning back up. He didn't wind up on a terrible team. There is only what was and what is. Bledsoe got hurt. Brady got his chance. Brady became the Goat.

I was looking at the Texans-Cardinals game and hoping the Cardinals would beat them to improve our draft position. But it made me think -- what do I really want? I still prefer the team goes on a run to finishes respectable. That would tell me Bill still has enough in the tank and this year was an anomaly.

Sincerely,

Blind Homer

If you don't get a chance in ANY arena, your greatness isn't fostered.
Brady wasn't talked about in the same league with Manning and a couple of others for the first few years.

If that diminishes Brady to you, well, that's your problem. Brady is the GOAT. Best ever. Not a player in the history of the NFL you'd trade him for.

Circumstance matters. Timing matters.

It would do more harm than good.
We are on the the draft.

It really is that simple, but for some reason there are fans who want to interject something else into the equation. I've actually seen more than one poster here who said that Brady would have been washing cars if not for Bill. And THAT was after seeing all that Brady has done once he got a chance on the field.

As for Manning, he has always been part of the NYFL's Royal Family. The only place Tom could knock his entitled ass off that perch was on the field and he did that plenty. PEDton was actually lucky to get out of the AFCE after one year of Brady and delicately placed into a division of expansion teams. If not for that who knows if he would have even made the playoffs, let alone 14 times and many times the top seed. Then again, it made it possible for PEDton to get to 9 one and done playoffs, which won't be matched unless it's by Lamar Jackson. He's off to a decent start.

We are on the the draft.
Part of it is that the draft is such a crapshoot anyway. Getting to #2 and you end up with Zach Wilson. Or people (including me) laughing at the Texans last year for beating the Colts in the last game and dropping from the #1 pick to #2 and missing out on Bryce Young and having to settle for CJ Stroud.

I know overall draft position helps reduce the crapshootedness, but I think it's over-rated and would rather teams bust their ass to win every game.

If this staff, and majority of roster was coming back next year I would agree.
However we are doing a complete wipe of the team.
It should be unrecognizable week 1 next year.

At least there's more of a chance now that half of the contenders in the AFC have no QBs and poorer records could get into the dance. I feel like we're on level ground now but it's still a mighty tall order. At this stage of the game I'm pulling for the Texans of the AFC. The AFC is once again kicking ass.

As a Patriots fan since September 1960, that's 63 years. As a Bill Belichick fan, since he was hired in 2000 by Bob Kraft, that is 23 years. As a member of the "In Bill Belichick We Trust" Club, it pains me to read the Title of this thread.

I understand how it came to be. It doesn't make it easier to swallow.

Watching the Patriots decline since the last year of Tom Brady at the QB spot in 2019 has been a sickening feeling.

For 63 years, it has been a Must, like sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner, to watch the Patriots game played at whatever time it was scheduled.

For 22 years, I have called the same person 1/2 hour before the game started, and I have received a phone call from the same person at half-time for the past 22 years.

To be watching the demise of the Patriots, to be talking about the demise of the team, to be talking negatively about Bill Belichick as a Head Coach/GM, and to be thinking about him leaving the Patriots is stomach-turning.

That is all I have to say.
Agree 100%.

Good that you acknowledge all that but I wish you had premised your post with that before. I wouldn't have responded the way I did.

In a case like that.. I'm not to sure how that would go.. as pertaining to the NFL rules ect. It still would be "tampering" or of the like if BB was speaking with other teams to initiate his own trade. So I'm sure there has to be something in the rules or something in the language with the contract. I believe ownership has the say and it would be up to BB to oblige. However I'm sure something would be all agreed upon collectively.
None of this would ever happen. Kraft would not allow him to negotiate his own trade. Kraft shows him respect and allows him to leave to team of his choice (like Brady was allowed)

WTF kind of discussion is this?

That means you think only one can win a Super Bowl without the other.
No it means if he is 100% responsible, then he is 100% responsible.

Agreed. That is exactly what I was thinking. I'd have to look it up.. but I'm positive owners have provisions and language to prevent things like that if BB did try it.

I'd like to know who that fan was.. LOL because wasn’t it a patriots scout that noticed Brady at Michigan? Part of some of the old guys when Bill first took over? However being buried on the depth chart at the 19th pick.. he had to show something that he made the roster, and made the team backing up Drew. Absolutely agree with the entitled spoiled brats Eli and Payton.

I feel a 3rd or 4th would be possible. Denver gave up a first and second for Payton.

I just don't see it happening; we are all dreaming if we think that this could happen. I would be shocked, gobsmacked if this happened. The problem is that no sensible team would want BB because BB would want total control of GM decisions or the team would be owned by a meddler and BB would not put up with that.

Actually he was. There was Brady vs Manning debates every time they went head to head in their early years beating his teams 5 straight times. Tom had 3 rings by 2004 and had the most rings of any QB currently in the NFL by his 4th year as a starter. To think Tom was just some random dude during those years either has a really bad memory or just flat out being disingenuous.

The media was really getting on Manning and the Colts because they kept losing to Brady and the Pats. The rivalry got very heated and took a turn by 2005 when the Colts poured it on the Pats on MNF.
