Is it possible Bill can save his job by benching Mac Jones and blaming the season on him?

The guy who spends the entire game day thread posting post after post blaming Jones for everything going wrong with this team is going to tell me I don’t watch the game.

So Lowe was benched because Jones was making him totally unable to handle Bruckner? Jones was sacked five times in the first half mostly because the line couldn’t block.

And Brady would not thrive in this offense. There are not two stud TEs. Henry is a good TE. Geisicki is a glorified receiver and other than Douglas, they have no receivers.

And I am not defending Mac. But if you cannot admit this is one of the least talented offenses in the league, you are living in a dream world.

Yes, the QB is the most important position on the team, but that doesn’t change the fact that this offense is devoid of talent. Brady couldn’t make chop liver out of this crap. This offense is worse than 2019 and Brady struggled down the stretch with that team.

Again, other QBs would do better with this offense, but they wouldn’t turn it into a good offense. It would still suck, but just much less.

But there isn’t a QB on the roster who is good enough to make the offense better. Zappe past through waivers twice for a reason. Belichick cut him twice for a reason.
All your time is wasted defending Corky Mac. Every post leans pro Corky.

Here we are today at 2 - 8 and you're still a believer. We are on year 2 and you still refuse to admit Corky is not an NFL QB. The worse he performs the more you dig in that its not all his fault.

Again, the OL is NOT going to block 100% perfect every play. Sometimes the other guy wins. It is up to the QB to be cognizant of what is happening and take appropriate measures to counter the defense. Not stand there like a tackling dummy waiting for the hit. Not heaving the ball underhanded straight up in the air like yesterday. Corky is overwhelmed. Mark Sanchez was too. Neither is/was mentally or physically tough enough to survive.

I want Corky to finish the season. He gives NE the best shot at a high draft pick.

id love to have what you are smoking. anyone with eyes can see this roster is bad all over. brady would thrive with this roster? this would be arguably his worst collection of pass catchers in his career. we probably are 5-5 on the back of brady's greatness. but a team that would get trounced in the wildcard round just like we did in 2019.

this team is more than a "qb away" and its pure delusion to think otherwise.
All you have to do is look at the offensive roster and ask yourself would you trade this guy for a 4th round pick after the season (with The hypothetical that they are all under contract). I don’t think there are many guys on the roster that you wouldn’t trade for that fourth round pick.

You have been pro Corky too.

Dandre Hopkins is not going fix Corky.

Never said it would.

Thinking the roster is trash does not equal "pro corky supporter"

But that's all you have. Anyone who dare insult the roster gets a lame "corky" insult. Otherwise you would come up with a consise argument about how the talent on this roster is great and full of building blocks

LOL! No you see Mac defenses where there isn’t any because you are an irrational Mac hater.

I have blamed Mac for not being mentally tough enough and turtling. Done it a billion times.

And as for the line not being 100% perfect crap is just your ignorance. Not being able to block is not “not blocking 100% perfect on every play”. Here is video. This is just god awful blocking. If you cannot assign some of the blame on the o-line, you just prove you are an irrational Mac hater.

That‘s the thing. His little mind can only think in binary terms. Either you blame Mac Jones for everything from the offense being terrible to the assassination of JFK or you are just a Mac supporter trying to deflect blame from him.

Even the most ardent patriots media thought this team at best was a 6-8 win team as our ceiling.

So maybe that's our ceiling with competent QB play. But I'm trying to understand how people are seeing some elite talent all over the roster where we are Superbowl bound with another QB.

Consider the source.
But Zappe is no good.

The Mac fans told me so.
Zappe came in the Packers game last year cold. Nobody expected him to play and he did quite well going head to head with a HOF QB. The Pats were in the game all the way with a 3rd string rookie QB.

Zappe has been a Pro through all of this. I have no doubt that he has worked harder than Jones and that his next opportunity ( in the near future and in NE ) wont be squandered. There will be no question who this team can win with and who will drag everyone down.

Fangirls of the smurf aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. I like when they pretend to know anything about pro football. Hilarious!

On that first one, shouldn't the defender be flagged for diving at the QB's knees?

Week 5. Right on schedule baby. Go smurf go!

And curse those refs for making him throw into quadruple coverage with his hilariously weak arm…

It's not like the moved up to get him. BB did what he always did he sat back and waited to see shook out of the Top 10 instead of being aggressive. I bet he would have been content with Cam for another season if no top QB's came down to the 15th pick.
Not sure I would have taken that "bet", Mac was highly rated and initially we all thought he was the answer.. then **** happened and either he is a shadow of the QB we had in '21 or other teams find him highly predictable. Either way he is in the same group a Lance, Wilson and Fields who also were overrated and highly coveted and the teams that drafted them not only wasted "draft capitol" but questioned their prospective player evaluation methods.

He belittled Marv Levy as a coach when he was in Cleveland.
Is this "belittling"??
"I have a hard time picturing not coaching football, at this point. I won't be like Marv Levy and coach in my 70s. You don't have to worry about that."
BB later apologized to Marv Levy... and it is reported there is no grudge by Levy towards BB.

He can try, but it would be a lie.

I still don't see how he insulted Levy with that comment.

If zappe starts and proves to score points and resemble a competent offense then it is Macs fault.

Score or don't score is the verdict

Yeah, if I saw someone working in their 70s by choice and not because they have to, I would have no problem telling them that there is no way I would be doing what they are doing and working at that age. And I am sure that they wouldn't be insulted.

Now if he intimated that Levy was no longer as good of a coach in his 70s, that would be a different thing.

Bad drafting for a decade and yet he won three super bowls during that time. Must be a hell of a coach then.
Drafts prior to that helped and to a miniscule extent a dude called tom Brady.. otherwise yeah the last decade of drafting was instrumental In the 3 rings....

Not really but this is belittling him:

Could we ****ing fire Bill to avoid this ****? The OP makes a salient point. This is why teams don’t want a lame duck coach (and GM.) **** Bill’s “legacy.” The players should have a coach focused on making the best of the rest of the season and setting the table for the future.

Maybe the next coach will believe in fielding a punt returner?
Jesus, you just watched the greatest dynasty in NFL history and one that will not be outdone in a salary cap era and you talk like this?

Maybe it's time for Bill to go (he goes to the Chargers with their talent and QB and they become instantly formidable), but ffs, show some humility and gratitude. BB has earned that much at least.

Wow.
