looking at this jet sweep... think it could be turned into a reverse, send a fast guy (thornton?) around the weak side?

in terms of assessing cole stranges play... the one on one blocking was good there... kept his hands in the proper position and had a nice wide stance, giving him the ability to step side to side...

question is, does the few steps he takes backwards to repel the blocker mean he still need to get stronger? looks like it came semi-close to collapsing the front of the pocket...

No, it's proper technique. Linemen are taught to maintain "happy feet," both to keep their center of gravity and also to reduce the chance of their ankles getting rolled up on.

Matthew Slater played his first defensive snap since 2020 today on the last play of the game. Brenden Schooler also took his first career NFL defensive snap.

Worried about laterals.

Wanted to comment on this, the slow stepping/explosion is termed "stepping on the DB's toes," and this was something Antonio Brown was so good at. It wasn't so much that he had game speed as much as it was that he varied that game speed to keep DBs off guard. Not comparing Pop to AB, but he does have that trait.

I mentioned in the PGT, that the OL has finally found a winning combo and if it stays the same and is consistent, we are in a good place going from this point on.
