Teflon Bill

The Patriots reportedly were split on whether to keep Meyers. Eventually, according to Callahan, Belichick was sold by others on the ability of free-agent receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to gain yards after the catch.

She should be holding a buck knife. When people used to play poker, you stab a buck knife into the table to keep track of who's dealing. If you "pass the buck" you're refusing to be the dealer.

The Patriots have become the same clown show we have made fun of other teams being for two decades. Letting it leak that Mac Jones will have a short leash and any one of three QBs could replace him is the same stuff we used to make fun of the Jets or Bills back in the day. Obviously Jones is on his last strike with the team, but Belichick in the past would never let stuff like this leak. And the fact they are admitting that they don't even have a back up plan on who would replace him is just comical.

I wonder how bad Mac has to be to get pulled.

There are reasons fans don't run football teams.

1) We are inclined either to like and admire the members of the team as "our guys" or to suddenly hate them in the manner of a jilted lover. Neither is consistent with forming sober judgments as to the worth of a player or a coach.

2) There are times when winning is NOT the most important thing. There is the obvious and unsavory fact that losing enhances draft position. Then there is the fact that at times taking on whatever castoff or burnout is handy in order to win is at best a waste of time, at worst actually makes things worse by clogging up the roster with dead-enders and obscuring with false hope what really must be done.

3) There are times when our fondness for the coaches and players we have puts us in the position of a business owner who feels compelled to hire and retain a worthless brother-in-law or a childhood friend or a neighbour s who pulled our kitty out of the swimming pool back in '82.

It's over. We are not going to win anything this year. We have a lousy GM who absolutely must be fired. We have an aging head coach who is slipping in his ability to adapt to a changing game and who is even showing signs of falling off in game planning and in-game management, areas in which he has been for twenty years paramount.

It is time to be something far more hard-hearted than a fan, maybe something even a little cold-hearted if that is what it takes. I think we will lose this game, and if that clarifies our thinking, it's not a bad thing imho.

This sh*t is just sad. They have already blown his confidence last year with that coaching circus and now pulling this crap.

I don't know why we're wasting 53-man space on Zappe!
As much as the last 2 games were indictments on Mac, it was really THE golden opportunity for Zappe to prove he's a better option and take the spot. But he sucked, and I mean - badly! So, send him down. Grier is probably as capable as Zappe in this offense right now.
It should be Mac, Grier, Malik.
But I expect that to happen after this week, when we bring another 1 or 2 guys back from IR/PS
As with Judon, we have the roster space when we need it. Flowers will be ready soon. I don't know about STer Cody or Jack Jones.

OT: I can't stand Wiggy. Does that make me an elitist?

If he is pulled again I don't think he can start next week. So if this is his last hurrah, I think he is likely to get at least the first half. Cunningham can still get certain plays. If he is replaced I wonder if Grier will be the back up and Zappe emergency.

We will know the pecking order based on who is designated as the “emergency QB” on the 46 man game day roster later.

My god the suspense.

And I remember being nervous about Gronk’s Super Bowl status.

Cunningham, Grier, Zappe…so many possibilities.

My poor blood pressure.
