True, they should have realized that Stidham was not up for the starting job earlier. Waiting until all other options were on other teams forced the desperate move to bring in Cam.
Should have kept developing the kid.
I liked our odds better to let Stidham sling it and learn on the job than bring out a clipped wing Cam.
Netwon would have been an amazing pick up in his prime but then he wouldn’t have been available.

In hindsight, Stidham could not have been as bad as Cam. If I remember correctly the big driver was that he did not go after the opportunity aggressively enough. The underlying concern was that would have sent a bad message to the rest of the team after Brady's leadership. For all of his on field issues I was pleasantly surprised by how came handled himself as a leader.

My humble opinion is that Stidham never really got a chance here. He should have been played at the end of the Cam year (when Cam couldn't hit the broad side of a barn). Didn't happen for whatever reason.

Stid may not be the answer, but from what we saw with Wilson last season he at least should get partial credit.

The only position group that has a large portion of rookies is Special Teams where, like us, they are starting the season with rookies at both Place-Kicker & Punter; maybe Long-Snapperhead too, because they currently don't have one at all...

No other position group there has more than two; most have one... Kinda the way you want it to go anyway; 10-12 rookies per year should be SOP for any well-run organization.

Mike Lombardi was on the BS podcast and said the following: I know for a fact that Sean Payton has Russell Wilson on a very short leash in Denver. Given that Russ is probably cooked, our old friend Jarrett Stidham might finally get his chance to be a QB1

Lombardi also guaranteed that the 49ers would take Mac Jones; so I don't know if I'd make any bets on that particular over/under right now...

10-12 rookies EVERY year making the team is bananas No team has that kind of track record. If that's the standard for a well run organization, then every team in history has been mismanaged.

I still think that if ownership hadn't meddled, Mac would be slinging for the 49'ers. Maybe they need a new York around there?

We saw Stidham. He panicked in the pocket, he had happy feet.

Maybe he’ll grow out of it, but he sucked when he was here.
