If Tyquan

I'm concerned for Tyquan

Hes already well behind JuJu, Parker and Bourne and you can easily argue Pops as well even though he has yet to play in the preseason.

If he so much as gets an ingrown toenail he might get Reserved/PUPd

Sorry to pick nits, but isn't he no longer eligible to be placed on PUP...?

This video looks very promising. Our new Edelman?
Possible. Very possible.
Yes,it's only TC.
BUT we have one of the elite cb groups in the nfl. And nobody- not even Jon Jones who is fast as hell and possibly the best slot cb in the nfl- has been able to cover him. Hes made most of them look silly.
At this point, Demario is a stone cold lock for the 53.

We'll see I just think if both continue to practice and play well in the Scrimmages Preseason games there won't be much room in the Inn. You have to think Bourne is only here for this year only.
Why must I think that?

asking because I don’t think so

Posted in the Flowers thread, but also putting here since it's news from today - Flowers signed this morning, but immediately goes on PUP list. Imagine he is probably gonna start the year on PUP to save a roster spot.

Then why sign him now, instead of somebody at a position of greater need?

There are certain players that are just CATALYST type players. Nate Ebner was one for the Men's 7-on-7 Rugby. Bourne was that for the Pats in 2021. Good things just happened when Bourne was on the field.

I don't believe that either Boutte or Nixon are going to beat him out.
IIRC Bourne was the same last season, when he saw the field and was targeted. It’s just that in 2022 he did not see the snaps nor targets to show that much.

If he doesn’t participate in a single practice for the next 10 weeks, there would have been no point in signing him.
Mentoring Keion? Redshirting for later in season?

Bourne is dynamic with the ball in his hands. I hope he sees a few targets per game.

IMO - Bourne is one of a few guys in the “let’s see what happens” bucket. New OC, new offensive leadership, they want to give it a year and see how things shake out. This also applies to Henry and Gesicki. It previously applied to Parker, but they extended him already. I guess they felt they’d seen enough from him already or perhaps they didn’t want to over-leverage themselves and risk losing all their receivers and TEs besides Juju and whatever rookies they keep next year. Whichever of these three players (Bourne, Henry, Gesicki) succeeds, they will prioritize re-signing next year. If they all do, might not be able to keep everyone but that’s also a good problem to have in a way.

Bourne was great in 2021.
Like everyone else on offense,he gets a pass for last year's fiasco.
DD is a lock. Period. Boutte and Nixon both coming on strong.
But Bourne is a proven commodity in the NFL. And he has great chemistry with Mac.
I think Boutte could become a star. Pats need to find a way to stash him. PS is no good, somebody will snatch him.
But he's still a rookie. Does anyone really think he'd produce more this year Kendrick Bourne? Dont think so.
Highly unlikely Bourne goes anywhere this year. Which is good. Neither Boutte nor Nixon is going to consistently produce like Bourne this season.
But Pats have to find a way to keep Boutte even if it means the unheard of 6 wrs. He has ?that much potential.

Are we ready to say that we expect our top four receivers to be Parker, Shuster, Bourne and Douglas?

Sure, we also have non-WR as receivers: the current, RB's, TE's, Montgomery, and the RB to be signed.
=====================
I wouldn't expect or want a 5th or 6th WR to even be active.

If we carry such a player or even two, it will strictly for developmental purposes and to play iff there are two injuries to the top 4.

Are you sure? Looks to me like he could go onto the regular-season PUP list only if he doesn't practice in camp, and could be activated starting at game 7.
That’s 10 weeks. 4 weeks til the season starts then if he is on pup he can’t practice for 6 more.
Why sign him to have him sit idle for 10 weeks?

No we aren’t close to ready to say that.

Yes I did.

One practice does not change the other 10 he has been invisible in.
He wasn’t invisible in 10. He was invisible in the 2 red zone practices then in the ones he wasn’t participating in.

How do you mentor if you can’t practice? Why would you bring a player in who hadn’t been here in 5 years to mentor a rookie?
How can he be expected to contribute anything if he is 10 weeks away from being able to practice? And why sign him now?
If he were going to stay on pup they wouldn’t have signed him.
He probably failed the conditioning run

He can still be present in the building in a mentor role as he gets into shape and then become active for the back half of the season.
That makes no sense. Why would you bring a guy who can’t practice for 10 weeks and hadn’t been in your system for 5 years in and out him on your roster so he can hang around the facility and “mentor”? Why would you want him to be a mentor instead of Judon, wise, guy, etc, etc.

And to clarify I am saying it’s ridiculous to believe they signed him expecting him to sit out all camp and the first 6 weeks, so he will be practicing, likely this week.

Because Judon, Wise, Guy, etc. etc. are busy practicing, or preparing for practice. Duh.

look, your reaction makes it clear you see no good reason to sign him, that was already obvious by your comments when you asked why sign him. So when people answer with a possible reason you’ve got to reject it, or you’d have to face the realization maybe there was a good reason you didn’t see. But you should realize that continuing to argue just shines a spotlight on it. And on the fact that you weren’t asking to learn, you were really making a statement disguised as a question. Problem is your statement of opinion is wrong, and just a pretext for arguing. No point in trying to have a discussion with you, you’ve shown yourself to be a troll.

They could activate Flowers, cut him, and still stash on the practice squad with call ups, because I doubt there will be a fight to claim him off waivers.
