If Rhamondre has a good season then this is likely his last with the Patriots. I think they’re hoping Strong shows something behind him. If not we’ll have a whole new backfield next season anyway
If Rham doesn't have a good season, Belichick won't re-sign him.

So, let's see.

Rham is likely gone next year. Montgomery is a utility back and not to be counted on for 2024.

So, we will count on Strong and Harris next year as our two running backs.

Surely, BOTH have shown so much that we need not add any RB's. ???
========================
I think that Belichick disagrees. He signed Robinson. Belichick waited for the franchise tag deadline to pass, so that the market cost for a RB is more set.

And, Belichick has shown interest in several RB's.

BOTTOM LINE
2023: Rham, Strong, Harris, Montgomery IS THIS ENOUGH at a position where injuries are likely?
2024: ???, Strong, Harris, ??? IS IT REASONABLE TO IGNORE the position this year?

Surely, we will sign a vet to a 2-3 year contract.

Rham is in the 3rd year of his 4 year rookie contract that goes until 2025. Rham is already signed for 2024. What are you guys talking about?

Pats now 1 of 32 teams betting favorite to land next big FA too

It’s too bad Kareem Hunt has had such a heinous past. That would be a productive back to share carries with Stevenson. 4.5 career ypc who also can catch out of the backfield.

Talk about a troubled life. Then again, if it wasn’t troubled and destructive he’d still be on the chiefs winning superbowls racking up yards. And yes, I got the sarcasm of your post.
RB Kareen Hunt seems like a Patriot in the making. I bet we are odds on to land him like D-Hop.

Was curious to see why this thread had 6 pages...

Can't believe people would question a Cook signing....I mean the guy is a homerun threat....it wouldn't even hurt Rham's production... there used to be a formation seen in the NFL called a "split back formation".....still effective...I mean linebackers gotta freeze and watch two guys instead of one... plus there's the factor of having an extra blocker in the back field...

Opinions seem to be strongly split between "he'd be great here" to "he showed he was washed up last year."

If we are giving a big contract to someone, I would not want it to be Cook. I would rather have Yannick Ngouke (?) and a lesser contract to Jarvis Landry or Akiem Hicks (if he's healthy.
