And when the team's not winning, they're fiercely devoted to whining.
Sure, because the team isn't doing what their fandomship (huh?) is based on.

Threads that turn into Brady circle jerks are not the mere mention of Brady.

We could start a thread about the renovations at Gillette and one of the Brady safe spacers will derail it and talk about how much better the beer tasted when Tom was around, how it cured blindness and how watered down it is now because BB is a meanie who hates the blind.
I knew Bill watered down the beer.

You are not wrong about the circle jerks.

My point was that I don't recall any Bradyites demanding a safe space. It was the people who were triggered by them who demanded this space be kept safe. It was those people who demanded a separate forum place for "Brady fans".

I got banned from an "Other Games" thread and told I am not a real Patriots fan by the pink hat Moderatrix. My crime? I said I was rooting for Brady to win every game he plays with the Bucs unless they play the Pats. She cleared the safe space for her whiny minions.

As can seen in my signature, Belichick is my #2 greatest person ever. I want him to be coach here until he dies. But you're wrong about who needed a safe space.
At the end of 2019 and before 2020 began, most realists knew the team needed to clear the books and start over. They knew it was going to be a rebuild from the ground up and that meant player development and building the roster from scratch...that meant losing and building it all back up.

Most realists also knew Tom was going to the best team possible in Tampa and he was going to win there with those super weapons and tough defensive front. Most of us really wanted to enjoy the rebuild and take pleasure in watching from afar as Tom won at least one more ring and enjoy talking about both of those things.

Bottom line is both the rebuild and the Brady finale could not be enjoyed, because the Brady zealots insisted on derailing every thread and telling us how terrible everything was here and how we could have been living the success Tampa was enjoying. As if had Tom stuck around suddenly all our salary cap problems from going all in the last five years would be instantly solved, all our aged or overly expensive players would suddenly be replaced with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Devin White, Vita Via and the rest for free.

This ^ of course is a pipe dream, had Tom stayed the 2020 team would have been worse than the 2019 team because the salary cap exists. So they would have eaten garbage for a year while they fixed their cap, wasting a whole year of Tom's dwindling time left in the league or borrowed more and the Brady era in New England would have ended in a whimper and the delirious Brady stans among us would have blamed BB for not spending money that he didn't have.

It's a real sense of entitlement that New England fans have that they think they're supposed to win a championship every year otherwise they're being cheated. Some handle it with grace and understand football, salary cap and roster building.... others don't understand that much and attribute it all to one magical player. Those people wound up with their own safe space because the rest of us understood the situation and were willing to deal with it... but weren't willing to deal with the histrionics and whining.

Yeah, that never happened. If that makes you feel better about your life, your personality, and the amount of energy you devote to something as innocuous as a pro football team, then by all means - rage on. The problem is everyone else. It’s definitely not you. You’re perfection. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.
Yeah, the oblivious rarely know it's them people are talking about... but I'm sure it wasn't you who disappeared, you were here a lot during that seven game winning streak in 2021 because you're such a force for positivity and die hard Patriot fan who doesn't believe in one magical unicorn who creates offense, defense and special teams all on his own. It's not like you're one of the most popular posters over on the Brady pages.

Sign @Kontradiction up as a Mod. He's got this thing nailed.
I’m all set. I do something like that for a living. Ian could definitely use a conduit who tells people to sack up, though. If that’s not Ross, then he should find one and do what makes him happy - providing the board for discussion about the team while implementing improvements.

lol conjuring up Tom v Bill in the middle of a discussion about how to moderate Tom v Bill discussions. The balls on you.

You’re proving my point for me.

I agree with virtually everything you wrote here. I'm with you. The expectations of some were/are idiotic.

However....

"...the rest of us who understood...but weren't willing to deal with the histrionics and whining..."

That is classic safe space justification. We are in the right, and we don't want your stupid opinions here. Just saying

But I wish Ian would let this place be the wild west. Even basement-dwelling, overweight, imbeciles like that Mahomes fan add color and personality to the forum. I hate vanilla.

It's literally why we're having this discussion... and you're the biggest offender.

They're called the "Brady pages" for a reason.

He certainly knows how to stay in character.

I know. But who demanded it?

@Tunescribe said Deus requested it. And I believe him. But lots of "your side" were really pushing Ian and pink hat girl to muzzle anything Brady.

THAT is all I was saying. Pointing at all of the Bradyites as needing a safe space is just not accurate. It was the sensitive people on the other side. And Deus, apparently.

I know the truth stings, own it, improve.
Yeah, it’s me. It’s all me. I haven’t been here since February, but I’m 100% the problem. No need for any introspection on your part. You’re not the problem. Everyone else is. By all means, keep proving my point.

Ian, this is Exhibit A of the people you can’t please.

Admittedly I’ve been dragged into conversations that derail threads arguing with the zealots, it’s a problem I am working on. The first step is self awareness, give it a try.
Introspection ^

@Kontradiction nobody suggested you were the problem, nor have I ever once sent a message to the mods. Not about other posters whining or anything else. I just find it annoying so I'm speaking up now.

Deus never requested the Brady board as far as I can remember. Maybe he did and I missed it or he did it via DM. The people whose happiness is way too wrapped up in this team, the people who spent all offseason here instead of enjoying their spring and summer, *****ed a lot about the single thread. Then it got turned into a board. As I recall, Deus was usually critical that the sub-forum even needed to exist.

Introspection ^
Yep. It’s not you. It’s the “zealots” who “dragged you,” the picture of perfection with a great and rewarding social life, into “conversations that derail threads.” It’s their fault in the first place. Not yours. After all, you were simply responding.

It’s everyone else who are the problem. It’s definitely not you.
