Jack Jones News Update Thread

The laws don't have an intent component.
The laws in Taxachusetts are a joke. I remember when the mandatory 1 year sentence for carrying a weapon was introduced and from the beginning it was ignored. And now they have a judicial system that doesn't even want to arrest people for many crimes, and that includes a judge in Boston who helped a wanted criminal sneak out of the court. But Jack Jones belongs in jail for having guns in a suitcase at the airport. That's about as screwed up as it gets.

Sorry @Ross12, but I'm finding it very difficult to have a discussion about the Jack Jones situation without getting into my opinions on gun laws and pardons for gun crimes, which came up here earlier. If I go too far please feel free to let me know and blow up any of my posts that do.

He probably gets a slap on the wrist.

The judge will get Pats season tix.

I understand - but it does need to be centric on Jack Jones and his situation. Discussing the laws and his likelihood of trouble with them makes sense and there’s some wiggle room for opinion on it, but we get into trouble when we branch way out into larger arguments about gun rights as a whole that don’t have to do with Jack specifically but rather with us as individuals.

What about my opinion on people who back into parking spaces in parking garages? Is that fair game here?

I'm working on that.
I'm not really up to date on gun laws but I feel like the Jones situation is being way overblown.

You didn't provide any links saying this.

Regardless, getting back to the original question - why would you still want Jack Jones on the team when he actually was arrested/has a record and facing serious jail time?

But I'll make this clear - I don't care for AB and he burned his bridge with too many people which is why no team should want him in their locker room. And I don't think anything should happen to Jones until he goes through the legal process. However, I don't think Bill wants to keep him from their prior situation from last season.
Innocent until proven guilty is a good reason

The judge probably has season tix already... and is trying to sell them to someone else...

I dunno man, it seems like a consequential part of the conversation. Especially if people are out to vilify him for something that is nothing but a fine in more than half the states

Unless you have video evidence of JJ doing that, its off limits here

I think, until more news comes out (In August when his trial comes), the only real discussion to be had is:

- What do the Patriots do at CB is he is, at the very least, unavailable for some time?

OR

- Something more political.

So with respect to your request - if Jack Jones were to not be a part of this secondary, what does the CB trio look like? Do we see the Patriots go with what they've got right now? Do we expect them to sign a body or two? Difficult situation to plan for given the timing of his trial and everything.

Would you not go to a movie if one of the actors was a scumbag? I’m not rooting for 53 individuals I am rooting for the team. For the same reason, an ex-patriot is just like any other player in any other team to me.
Well that is your prerogative. If we ever brought in a truly vile human being like Tyreek Hill or Leonard Little I would certainly question my fandom.

Whew, all I can say is that Jones must be a really, really good CB or the backups must be really, really bad for him to still be a Patriot. It is shocking that he is still on the team, but the Patriots defense is looking really strong with him on it (except for DT and stopping the run).

Did he have his day in court already and was found guilty?

How about the people who stop their car and waive you on when they have the right of way. Like waiving you to make a left turn in front of them (in little traffic) when it takes longer for them to stop and waive you on that it would to just obey the rules and drive?

I say stuff like this to my wife (who is from the midwest) all the time about Boston driving: It's better to be predictable than polite. Keep the traffic moving and the chance to merge/turn/etc will open iteself.

I have no idea because the sports media isn't covering them.

All kidding aside, and without going down a slippery slope, I still don't see this violation as anything serious unless you think he was intending to kill the pilots and take over the plane. I'm sure that he wasn't.

I park how I want Comrade Commissar shup about parking I will F YOU UP

I would love to hear they don't have enough to derail his career, in a selfish way. But damn.

As to the "all he did was try to go on a plane with two loaded firearms" thing... I'm not the Mona Lisa Vito of guns, but it looks like he had on him some real crowd-pleasers.

Honestly, I sort of want him to get off, because our defense was starting to look/feel potentially fantastic in a division of big arms. He was a huge part of that feeling.

The other side of it is stuff we can't talk about, but I'm for strong gun laws. It's painful, because it would be my ox getting gored, but it seems like this was a huge knowing infringement.

We'll see about all if it in August. He pleaded not guilty. I wonder if that changes with a plea deal before this goes to court.

SMH. You have to wonder if he expected a shoot-out when he landed. As a fan, I want someone with his chops or the equivalent back there. As a fan in this era, I want back my still cheap-to-carry 2nd year guy, not some big cap hit from a free agent hire who probably isn't as good. That's on him too if we have to replace.

I've turned down the opportunity to see Brady in a movie because Hanoy Jane is in it.
I'll probably avoid Alec Baldwin in the future too.
Now that I think about it, there are a few Hollyweirds that I already avoid.
There are plenty of other actors to choose from but that's different than choosing a sports team. We're kind of stuck with the regional teams that we usually start with.
