DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION Official Patriots Draft Day 3 Thread - Rounds 4-7

Happens every year. I need to start saving these posts. I still remember the heat I took when they took Trayvon Wilson in the second round and he was a projected 6th or 7th rounder. I understand that teams have guys valued differently, but that was a bad pick, turned out to be a bad pick and looked like a bad pick from the start.
But this isn't the 2nd round.

It's the 4th round in a very weak draft.

I really followed the mock drafts this year all the way down to the 7th round, and I can tell you that most of the players going now for ALL the teams were not well scouted by the mockers. In fact, I saw Isaiah McGuire just get picked and he was the 1st guy I recognized in a dozen picks.

It's the 4th round and everyone's board is different already from the mock draft guys. We're effectively in the 5th or 6th round at this point.

I've said it for a couple years now. Bill could take a crap at midfield during a game and half the board would hail it as a genius move and hot everyone with the "chess not checkers".

Guys I want:

WR - Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Andrei Iosivas, Trey Palmer

TE - Zack Kuntz, Will Mallory

QB - Tyson Bagent, Jaren Hall, Stetson Bennett

RB - Israel Abanikanda, Evan Hull

DE- Adetomiwa Adebawore

LB - Owen Pappoe

CB/S - Corey Trice, Jakorian Bennett, Darell Luter, Christian Izien

OT- Blake Freeland, Dawand Jones, John Ojukwu, Jake Witt

OG/C - Chandler Zavala, Sidy Sow, Jake Andrew, Luke Wypier

Need a punter and a kicker ideally…
@203Pat

Here’s what I posted before day 4 of the draft started today genius, go back to the start of this thread…. yeah, I’m just rubber stamping all of Bill’s draft picks.

Just to be sure, Ryland was my favorite kicker left on the board and the punter from Rutgers my favorite there… in case Bill takes him later and you want to tell us I said so because he was chosen. Turk is a good punter as well but I did little research on special teams.

So burn a 4th on a kicker to have the option to cut a guy who is still effective but is making a lot of money. Nice

Who is the best fullback on the board?

It’s been brought up by some that maybe we kick Onwenu out if one of these guards shows well at camp.

Or

With his athleticism can Strange possible work at OT?
Onwenu is an all-pro level RG. I don’t think they're moving him to RT.

Strange is athletic at the 2nd level, and on traps and pulls, but I don’t know if he can handle speed rushers in space.

Pats have been pretty much been picking BPA. Not by positional need.
Agree but the need. I still think upgrades need to happen on offense. Not sure it’ll happen draftwise at this point though.

Dallas just took an edge rusher that the Patriots really liked, Fehoko

D ‘Andre Swift traded Philthadelphia

you are a whyni ***** when somebody critizes the pats pick, how can you not see this?

lol at your last sentence, you clearly do not understand the draft

Taking dumbarses like yourself to task over your f'ed up whining is whining? ROFLMAO.
I understand the draft far better than you.

Maybe they just feel that reiff/Anderson can handle it this year and we address future replacements next offseason.

I know it's cute to say kickers aren't football players, but are people really dismissing how important a kicker is? They are the difference between winning and losing a game so often.

There were two top kickers in this draft. One got picked yesterday. We need one. It's a 4th round pick and we have four of them.

But we could have had a WR who is not better than our current WR's. Those of you who want the shiny object (a WR), the time for that was 1st round if you wanted one who might upgrade one of our top 4. So your argument is a WR instead of Gonzalez. **** that.

His name is Tavon Wilson and he played in the NFL for 10 years. Turned out to be a good NFL player with a long career. But you need to save posts.
Wilson was a second round pick who could've been had in the 6th round. The guy played four season for the Pats and started FOUR games....you want an average of 1 start/year from your second round pick? mind numbing

Don't mind @203Pat . He's another of the Whiny b**ch brigade who thinks their fandom knowledge outweighs the years of experience in the Pats draft department.

The problem is at this point Folk can't do kickoffs worth a damn.
Sure but is that worth passing up highly rated tackles in the 4th? You realize that Jones will probably be healthy for 6 games this season with the line they have. I like Sow for what its worth.

Folk isn't effective on Kick-offs and hasn't been for awhile. Guess you haven't been paying attention...
