So you wanted them? Congrats I guess? Not saying theyre bad players. I am saying they aren't really filling positions of immediate need. Theyre filling potential holes for when we let previously drafted players who were successful go. I would rather have a tackle, a slot receiver, and a tight end and re-sign guys like Dugger and Onwenu. I hate when we let guys we drafted who played well here walk.
We lacked depth last year. We had injuries and we were picking up people off the street. The Patriots have given 2nd contracts to OL in several previous years, so I don't think these are replacements. These are depth pieces, which this team sorely needs, unless they want to see Ferentz and street replacements playing.

Charlie Jones is a welker/Edelman kind of player….nice snag for Bengals

I like a lot of our picks in a vacuum, buts it’s hard to see us becoming much more than a good defense average offense type of team that kicks a lot of field goals.
Worth remembering that once the draft ends, a lot of decent veterans will find themselves out a job whom the Pats can scoop up.

Why are we not addressing WR at all.
Even if Bill says he is happy with what is there there was serious talent on the board.
I just don’t understand.
because he wants mac to have another bad year so he can dump him

Tyler Scott and AT Perry still available?
Tyler Scott has a lot of speed and athleticism. I'd like to see us draft him. Probably go punter instead.

There goes Scott..sigh

I think they’re gonna stick with Waitmann personally

Onwenu is a free agent and Andrews is almost done at center. You can’t just assume you can afford all these guys, that’s why they’re drafting needs by taking guys who could potentially replace Onwenu or Duggar. If they do sign those guys to reasonable extensions, these kids could play alongside them. They’re filling needs.

And there's 3 of my 5 WR bargain beankies gone (Tyler Scott to CHI at 133). Sigh.

Has BB developped a fetish for crappy free agent WR's and very decent TE's.

Can't believe we didn't take Kraft and Charlie Jones. As good as all the picks are...some things make no effin sense.

Give me Kuntz, AT Perry or Parker Washington please

the problem is nobody knows if the hypothetical WR turns out not better than our current group
you can say that about the Kicker too, nobody knows if ryland is actually better than Folk

In theory, you are correct. Nobody knows. Let's talk odds. What is more likely.

The 1st or 2nd best kicker in the draft. Extremely high odds (especially for a 4th round pick) that he is better than Folk. We know factually that he has a much stronger leg. And his accuracy in college was very good. Nothing is a sure thing, of course. But his chances of success are much higher than the average 4th rounder. And Kicker is a vital posituon.

Or....the 30-something best WR in the draft. Sure, it happens, but not likely.

I mean we need a potential starter at RT and we're going to need depth at TE and preferably someone who can block at that position. We also don't really have a true slot receiver. I know Juju plays in the slot but he isn't the shifty get open quick guy we need.
