Even the haters admit Bill is the best when it comes to coaching up corners. They end up with the #1 guy? At 17? This is a huge win for the Pats.
Bro...
I had Witherspoon, Porter and then Gonzales. I wouldn’t of minded any of the 3 and we got one. Doesn’t make me a leper. It’s easy to get behind Gonzo with his athletism and ofcourse I hope he is the best of this class. Probably let my disdain of the Pac12 cloud my rankings.I still think Witherspoon was the best corner in the draft right now, but Gonzalez has a higher ceiling, and Belichick is great coaching up corners. He was even able to take a bum like Asante Samuel and turn him into a very good cornerback.
Do we win a playoff game if we draft JGB or Flowers instead? Not likely.Thats how many playoff games the Pats are winning this season too.
Offense is the obviuos issue. so the Pats draft defense.

The draft isn't over and the defense was definitely an issue last season.Thats how many playoff games the Pats are winning this season too.

You might be right
Why did Gonzalez look miserable coming here.
There's a reason he came up as a CB and not a WR. His hands or route running probably aren't the best. He's succeeded in a very limited role but if you expand that, you'll see the flaws in his game.I suspect this pick could help free up Marcus for an expanded offensive role.
Matt Groh is the guy with the suit and tie. Berj Najarian makes the call. I think Camryn Williams is the guy with the glasses. Can anyone identify these guys beyond Bill, Kraft and Barry?

Who plays LT this year? This team severely lacks blue chippers and they went out and got a blue chip prospect at a position to need, to boot. They didn't have a prototypical perimeter corner on the roster and now they do. Sky high value + positional need = excellent pick. Gonzalez was my "pie in the sky" scenario for this draft, to get him after trading down is ridiculous. Sure, the offense needs a lot of adding to, but right now they just need to get guys with elite upside, and Gonzalez's is higher than any receiver's.
