PFT: Bill "has shopped" Mac

Where are the 16 pages and soon to be more posts on Hoyer?
Mac fans in this thread exposing themselves as having little clue on running a pro team.
Okay for Hoyer but not okay similar for Mac ... ugh ... veteran members here posting like noobs IMO.

Mac has huge hurdles to overcome and get that coveted parking spot.

Preparation for the game entails meetings with the QB's and OC and QB coach ...
part of the process to develop a game plan for the game ... Not insurrection on the field during the game ....

I’m still uncertain why the Patriots so adamantly went away from Stidham in 2020 even when he came back from injury when Cam Newton was floundering and not in command of the offense.

Then the sh*tshow last year.

And now this.

Bad optics. Bad coaching.

I’m ready for the Mayo.

I kinda do.

Belichick is hoping to trade Mac Jones, bring in Lamar Jackson, and then draft Bama safety Brian Branch in the first round when elite OTs and CBs are available.
Any evidence?

I didn't have a problem with that. Stidham is not very good. There was no value in seeing him play the season out.

More Mac Jones trade talk discussion.

There's plenty of blame to spread around for the disaster of 2022.

A lot of it lies at the feet of BB, Matt Patricia, Joe Judge, AND Mac Jones. He's not blameless.

But bottom line, as far as Mac Jones getting traded, where there's smoke there's fire.

Whether you like it or not it looks like BB is exploring trade options for Mac Jones. The reasons why have already been discussed.

Let's see where this leads. If it happens, I'm just hoping we get at least a 2nd round pick back.

If true, BB has gone completely off the reservation. He runs the organization based on his own desires and emotions instead of what’s good for the team. We now have an owner who is feuding with the coach, and the coach is feuding with the first round quarterback. I never imagined this kind of dysfunction from this organization

You musn't have been around for vast majority of the Patriots history.

I said BB holds grudges.
It looks like if Tom wasn’t here so long I don’t know if we would of been able to keep half of our core players.

The team has really fallen hard since Brady left. What a mess. Makes me think too that Bill just sat there in 2021 settling on whichever "1st round" QB fell to him. Within only two seasons he's decided he doesn't want to end his head coaching career with mediocre Mac. Unlike some fans, Bill clearly is not giving his QB a free pass for the Patricia debacle either. Actually moving on from Mac will allow Bill to shift some of the blame from his horrible decision to the QB. Shrewd move.

I personally like Zappe more than Mac but I'm not sure how far we'll get with his noodle arm.

This.

The coaches know what they have in players for the most part. Stidham never looked good on the field with the Patriots and despite one or two good games with the Raiders, he ended up falling off a cliff again when he got his shot.

Fans need to stop falling for the "magical savior on the bench that just needs his chance" trope. Every fanbase that doesn't have a QB falls for that and it always ends the same way.

The Zappe/Mac debate can only be settled in time but BB’s lack of accountibility for last year is pathetic for a 71 year old man of his stature. He’d rather make the 24 year old quarterback the scapegoat than admit he put him in a terrible position.

If Tom wasn't any good, Bill would've been a career D Coordinator.

The saddest thing is Mac was so happy to be drafted by the Patriots.
It looked like a perfect match,
Wow

What I do not understand - at all - is this notion that Mac is a sacred cow deserving preferential treatment and consideration. What in the world has he done to earn that? Consistent, high quality play? No. Accrued time in the league? No. Why the hell should Mac be the starter by default, and be protected from an open competition with Zappe (or anyone else for that matter)?

Would folks feel this way if Mac was drafted in round 4-5 instead of round 1?

Well, we invested a first round pick in Mac Jones. So, we need to give him every chance to succeed before deciding on the 5th year option. We did the same with Michel and Wynn...we didn't pick up the option for Michel after we knew we could find a similar back in the draft (Harris and Stevenson later on)...and we picked up Wynn's 5th year because he plays a valuable position where guys just don't grow on trees. Same deal with Mac...we gotta squeeze everything outta the tube there....we have to find out if he can be an elite QB in this league or not.....

You are ready for Mayo because of Stidham? That is hilarious. Could not tell if that was a joke or not.

I would argue that once you see it’s not a fit whether it’s coaching, culture, talent or football IQ.
You move on as quick as possible vs waiting to see if this and this will happen.
Before people point to his pro bowl nod there has been many alternate choices for pro bowls that don’t make sense.

I’m all aboard the Jackson Levis or take a flier on a QB in the draft to push and develop behind Zappe.

Unless Kraft fires Bill I think Mac is out of NE.

I hate to ****ing say this because I am in the "not Lamar" camp. But what if there is an agreement in place with Lamar and they are looking to Move on from Mac.

**** not a fan of that. But I don't think this move would be made in a vacuum. Unless they really, really fell in love with Zappe over the winter.
