PFT: Bill "has shopped" Mac

Amazing how everyone thought Bill O'Brien was the right hire because he was familiar with Mac, only for Mac to get traded? Makes the hiring of O'Brien even worse.

With that being said, I'm rooting for Mac to getting traded.

I think the bigger concern is it seems like he can't admit he was wrong.

At this point maybe we should be glad Patricia wasn't promoted to official OC.
If this is true Bill is admitting he was wrong about Mac when he drafted him.

Another complete myth by Mac Media, Josh Allen had 20 TDs 9 picks (+ 9 more rushing TDs) and went 10-6 in his 2nd season it's fair to say he took another big jump in year 3 but Josh Allen had 11 mediocre games as a rookie and then took an instant jump.

In 2019 (his 2nd year) Josh Allen was the 28th ranked QB by DVOA, the 26th by QBR and had the 2nd worst completion percentage in the league. He was widely thought to be a bust.

I have to imagine the trade would be less about "Mac was bad last year" and more about "Mac undermined me, I need to set an example."
I think it would be more about “Mac undermined the entire coaching staff. That’s simply not tolerable.”

Mac looked like he was leading the insurrection inside the locker room with his attitude towards JJ and MP. He failed a character test when he did not buckle down to work with them and make the best of the situation. Going outside instead of going to Bill was a fatal mistake.

I won’t be surprised if Zappe gets first crack at earning the starter role in camp.

50/50 if true.

I do believe Mac going to people outside the org asking for advise was a really, really, really bad move and one Bill possibly saw behavior as quisling-ish and potentially subversive. Not a lot of gray area with Bill. You are either on his team or you aren't.

I guess it is possible Bill is shopping Mac.

Josh Allen and Tua looked like complete garbage until they got big weapons in year 3.

How on earth can anyone know where Jones's talent will plateau after whatever TF last year was?

That kind of evaluation is the GM's job, isn't it?

In theory at least he could have already decided Mac just isn't good enough and doesn't want to see more.

The funny thing about the "Bill dumping Mac" narrative is that it runs against the "Bill just wants to coast with a mediocre team and chip away at Shula's record" narrative.

So many narratives, most of them total horseshit.

Honestly there is a solid chance both are gone next year if this season doesn't result in a playoff win. Kraft definitely hitched his wagon to the wrong horse in 2020.
I didn’t say this back then but now, we are in an awful lot of trouble.
Starting over with a new QB is wild.
Zappe and who Levis? Who is suppose to go top 5 Hooker who everyone is looking for the next Hurts.

Tanner McKee in the early second?
Clayton Tune in the fourth
The off-season got a lot more interesting.
Also my Zappe auto Jersey and helmet could skyrocket.

I can see that Bill is sore that Mac took things out of house. I can see that he'd at least take the temperature of what the market is for the kid. I think that Bill royally eff'd up the offense last year with FM/JJ, and the kid made a call out of frustration. I think Bill has zero friends in the media and for the first time, there's a chink in his armor.
^THIS^

Bill has been on the bullseye for a long time. His decision about the OC role last season opened the floodgates. Guys in the locker room listened to the hype, and Mac was a ringleader. Media is making hay out of it all.

I called it you all thought I was crazy lol
I called it Bill hates him
He didn’t resign Meyers or Harris because they are some of his biggest supporters.
Patriots will be drafting a QB in first few rounds.
And some in the media had suggested Mac ask for a trade as this franchise is dysfunctional.

Now Pats Fans hear this.
If Mac is their guy they need to get in front of this and deny deny deny.
If we hear crickets we know it’s true.

I feel bad for Mac I really do.

Why feed the trolls?

If you respond to this horseshit, you have to respond to all horseshit.

The team has for 20 years not taken the bait, I doubt they'll start now.

Unless Bill pulls a rabbit out of his hat and steals Rodgers from the Jets or surprises everyone and gets Lamar I don't know how he could start over with a new QB and sell it to Kraft. This season is put up or shut up time and he can't go back to the beginning with a rookie QB and try to sell another rebuild.

Oh damn. Some people who depend on people clicking on their articles to provide for their families posted something about a firebrand franchise in the off-season. I definitely should take this as presented.

Trade Mac and get Rodgers or Jackson....

More horseshit.

They're running with Florio's report, and not even getting it right:

Belichick has shopped Jones in trade talks with multiple teams this offseason, per Pro Football Talk. The report cites the Raiders, Texans, Buccaneers and Commanders as potential landing spots.

Florio never reported they shopped him to four teams, Florio only said these are potential spots.

The Herald is so anxious to join the media circle-jerk they can't even get the story straight.

Zappe.

Disagree with your evaluation of BOB hiring, it’s an upgrade over the JJ/MP show regardless of whether Mac, Zappe, or some new face is at QB.

Agree I’d like to see Mac traded. He has shown character deficiencies over the past year that force me to believe he isn’t fit to walk in TB12’s footsteps. And I was a Mac fan when he was drafted and most of his first year.
