My hypothesis: I think he probably liked it here, he wanted to be treated (IE have his azz kissed) like he was a #1 corner (he wasn't) and be paid like he was a #1. He knew if he stayed here, he'd likely win more rings and get himself in the HoF. Instead, he had to go to Philly after being rejected by his first true love, the team that drafted him.

Or, he's an asshat.
Your right, he wanted that big contract, and eagles gave it too him.. yeah it's just annoying every chance he gets he's coming at BB.. he never was a willing tackler.. he was the ultimate gambler excellent ball skills for a zone CB.

LOL, I meant our noses since we care about what the team does on Sundays ... I just don't think it would end well and it would tie up too much cap space. Plus, again, I can see him being out of football in a few years unless he changes his style of play. Kid's got a cannon for an arm and he's obviously got great athleticism. But we've only seen a handful of those types of players last for any period of time in this league and it's still hard to say whether or not he'll be an exception to that rule or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing anything bad on him and I hope that isn't the case, but you can't get hit by linebackers and safeties over and over again without a consequence. Something will definitely have to give at some point.
whats all this "we care about the team" stuff? Are you a 16 year old girl or something???? We are talking about Petty Revenge here.

LOL, all of my ramblings aside, I do agree with you, though. I read Asante's quote and had the same reaction.

LOL, see above.

Alright, if we can just """"""""""""""backload contracts"""""""""""""""""", let's sign Lamar, Hopkins, OBJ, Jeudy (we'll backload a van with him in the middle of the night seeing as Payton is saying he isn't trading for him), all to backloaded contracts, then the Patriots will backload the back ends of each team they face this year. I can see the headline now: "Backloadin' Belichick 'Blows the Back Out' of Bewildered Competition by Breaking The Spirit of Football"

Then 2024 will introduce rule changes on the backloading of contracts.

For the life of me I don't get what assante Samuel's beef is with BB.. you came in as a 7th round pick, given an opportunity to become a starter..

I mean we all know BB can be tough to play for... But it's becoming annoying listening to this guy.. come on man.. let it go..
He was a 4th round pick in 2003 and played immediately as a nickel/dime. He became a starter in 2005 after Ty Law departed and was terrible. However, 2006 was his breakout year. He has explained this before, but his beef with Bill is that he holds players back. This started during the 2006 season where he was benched against Chicago before the game for no reason in favor of Troy Brown. There was an injury and what does Bill do? Turns to Asante who picked off 3 passes including a game winner. Then the offseason came and Samuel and didn't want to return to NE, only to find out Bill Franchise tagged him. He made it clear to Bill he'd only return for the 2007 season if he'd let Samuel go the following season.

A guy who only cared about his INT numbers and his wallet did not enjoy life under Bill Belichick? What a surprise.

He started that Bears game... Played all four quarters. In fact his first int came on the bears first drive.

Bunch of fecking bs

Sorry you're right 4th round not 7th... yes he was a spot player before his eventual start once ty left for NY.. I'd be pissed too if I got benched for a WR playing CB.. I definitely remember that game we won 17-14.. our defense was fantastic that season.. yes, I remember that 07 offseason didn't he hold out that training camp? He would ultimately be a free agent in the 08 off season anyway Right?

I mean I'm sure he has his reasons, but Ted Johnson had similar issues with BB and he said they buried the hatchet..

I mean Asante eventually got his pay day. He went on to play well for a few seasons even with the falcons.. and then as corners do with age he fell off.. it's just every chance he gets he has nothing but BB hate.. at some point you gotta let it go.. the organization drafted you, gave you a chance alot of young guys would have loved to had been in Asantes position.

Why you ask?

Read:

Yup. Sign the Beast just to piss off Asante "Drops The Easy Int" Samuel. Im all in. Hook, Line and the mofo Sinker

Two first rounders? Not an issue.

Big Contract? Model it on Mahomes deal, Kick the can down the road if needed.

If Lamar takes the advice and rescinds his reported desire to play for New England, please tell Asante thanks.

He didn't like getting the franchise tag.. seemed like he could never get over it..

Good player not great.. never wanted to tackle and proffered to play zone not man up and be physical like the great ty law
Poor Asante, I don't know how he could have possibly fed his family on the lowly franchise tag.... you think he had to eat out a soup kitchen?..

This just in: Lamar to sign in Foxboro for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less than Baltimore offered. ;)

dude... first INT he made was in the bears first series ... gtfo with his ********

here it is

This is his story. I know he picked off a pass on the first drive. Calm down bro.
