BB Interview NFL Annual Meeting

Yep. Brady was the only player on this teams. Only coach too. Everyone else sucked.
It was nothing but a self serving and arrogant answer. As such it deserved a corresponding follow up. I wish a reporter had the balls to follow up with something like "did I miss the news of Brady being your QB again?"

That was a valid question that deserved an actual thought out answer. None of this trust me BS

FWIW I didn't like the "Last 25 years" comment either. I would have preferred, "We were a playoff team in 2021, we didn't do well last year. We've improved and will continue to make the team better". and leave it at that.
Exactly! That was my problem with it. It was a question that was worth asking and deserved an actual answer

The problem is that argumentative chit will just get them shut out, and they know it. It plays fine here on the forum, but it doesn't fly in person, at a regular presser or certainly at the owners meeting. The league would back the Pats and Stacy James when they yank a reporters credentials. Like it or not, the guy is a first ballot HoFer, and there's gotta be a level of respect shown for what the man has accomplished. Someone from barstool or something similar could get away with it, but it would be one and done, and you'd never get access again, not to mention the question wouldn't get answered, you'd just have sports radio fawning over the reporter for a day, then that reporter would be no where. It's all a big BS dance. Someone like Curran or Reiss could maybe follow up with a soft pedaled "you've had limited amount of success without Tom..." but to try to bully him is just going to get you...

Same old crap. Problem is that act doesn’t work when the team sucks Bill.
I don’t get your take. It was hilarious then, it’s hilarious now. He’s consistently hilarious.

Maybe you (and many other posters) would rather listen to the catch phrases that mean nothing from the smiling bouffons who’ll be looking for another job next spring. I’d rather listen to the always hilarious BB.

Is it ? Does it ? Tell us how it’s a ‘good question’. Would you have preferred “the NFL is an ever evolving organism that ebbs and flows / there is always hope and I love the young players on this team” ?

It was a stupid question. And it deserved what it got.

You're saying they regurgitate preconceived sound bites that mean nothing? Stop it. Next you'll say there's no Santa.

I don't think it was an insightful, hard-hitting question but rather one catering to the gloom and doom crowd and sports radio listeners. It was kinda silly to ask and bating in nature.

I would have preferred BB not use the distant past as reason to be optimistic but rather speak to recent history and say what I said above. Plus say, "We just missed the playoffs last year and made it 2021. We have a lot of good, hardworking young players. It's not like we are coming out of the Death Penalty and have no players." .

That response would have been epic.

It’s actually a common refrain on this board. Brady is the GOAT, and he deserves great credit for their 6 Lombardi’s, but Belichick put everything else around him, and that’s what made it the greatest dynasty in NFL history, yet some here talk like he’s ****. It’s crap. I don’t care what he says to reporters, I just want a good product, and it’s his responsibility to make that happen.

Well... Finally caught up on this thread... It's really good to see people yearning for a return to the Pete Carroll years... Nice long q and a's filled with self serving platitudes ...

Those were the real glory days... Got all our questions answered... Yes sirreee Bob...

Pete Carroll, in his three years as Patriots coach, won a division, made the playoffs twice, won a playoff game, hosted a playoff game, compiled a winning record. 10-6, 9-7, 8-8 and 1-2 in the playoffs, 28-23 record. yes, I will take that over Bill the Coach and his 7-9, 10-7, 8-9, 0-1 playoffs. that gives Bill the coach a 25-26 record HIS last three years. we're talking about NOW with Bill the Coach, not what Brady did for him the 20+ years prior.

Pete also was at the mercy of a terrible GM.

Bill picks his own players.

Bill built 6 Lombardi teams. From the front office on down, despite working in a league designed for parity, and taking down the better teams No other franchise came close, despite having many great and. HOF caliber players.

Then you get Bobby Grier with that choice. They were a tandem.

Both inherit a Super Bowl team and subsequently have 3 straight years of decline.

Fool.

Every since Brady went to Tampa, BB has had to really be in a crisis in a sense.

The post was in reference to the last 3 years compared to Carroll's 3 years.

Pete and Bill have both been HCs for the last 12 or 13 years. Why not compare those 12 or 13 years head-to-head? Why cherry pick 3 year segments?
The difference is Tom Brady playing for 20 years. No coach has had that luxury of having a HOF QB play that long at that high of a level other than Bill. He doesn't have that anymore and he is in the same boat as the majority of the NFL - scrambling to find ways to win on Sundays.

Can't compare head-to-head because of TB12? Pete won a SB, then lost, and then never got close again. The Seahawks have been rebuilding since 2015. Even without TB12, Pete could have rebuilt. Now he has resigned Geno Smith because that is who he picked. Would you prefer Geno or Mac?

But we should cherry pick 3 years to do a comparison because of TB12?
