BGC 2023 QB/PTP Thread

When was the last time that there wasn't a single QB candidate projected to go in the 1st round?

This may be of interest only to me - 7 out of 12 1st time SB winning QBs (well 6.5 if you count the Foles situation) since TB12's first were on their rookie contracts. Emphasizes the importance of getting lucky as all heck drafting well.

Avg of current contract during win in millions
01 ~0.3 TB12 (Rookie contract)
02 ~5.6 Brad Johnson *Not orig team
05 ~3.7 Big Ben (Rookie contract)
06 ~14.0 Peyton
07 ~7.5 Eli (Rookie contract)
09 ~10.0 Brees *Not orig team
10 ~10.6 Rodgers
12 ~6.0 Flacco (Rookie contract)
13 ~0.8 RWilson (Rookie contract)
17 ~6.5 Wentz (Rookie contract) - Foles 4.0
19 ~4.0 Mahomes (Rookie contract)
21 ~27.0 Stafford *Not orig team

Bet that number really jumps if you expand it to the final four. I might look when I have time.

Biggest cheat code there is. Especially if you're creative and already have a little bit of talent to work with.

Dorian Thompson-Robertson, you watch, he’s gonna be a good NFL QB. Great arm, can run and keep plays alive with his legs, is a great leader. Had 88 career td passes and 28 career TD runs.

I always worry about the longevity of small scrambling QBs. It seems like they get hurt early and often, and never last. Now Purdy is lost for all of 2023 and maybe forever. Tua will not last. Jackson is starting to have injuries every year. Etc.

Where did you see that Purdy was lost for 2023?
Recent news articles are saying he'll be back for Training Camp. He didn't need Tommy John surgery.

I do not know where I saw it. It was in a JG article. It said that Purdy's surgery has still not happened because the swelling is still there, so the injury is most likely worse than thought. I read 5 to 10 articles per day and can not remember the source every time.

Your not saying anything that wasn't in the article I posted. So what about the surgery. It's mentioned that it hadn't been done last week. That doesn't change anything and it certainly doesn't support your claim that Purdy is lost for the year.

@BaconGrundleCandy my guru what's your take on QB Hendon Hooker?? I think he could be a quality Starter down the road in this league love his fearlessness in the pocket love that in a QB he also keeps his eyes downfield: you can clearly see that on tape.

@BaconGrundleCandy what's your take on QB Jake Haener he throws a sweet ball. I think if he was taller he'd be in the mix love his overall game.

I like Todd Centenio as a UDFA and Tyson Bagent as a Div II option. And my Steelers buddy raves about Tim DeMorat, but I can't really find comprehensive enough tape. His highlights are pretty fun though

WOW. This part speaks VOLUMES about the kids intelligence:
"• While at East Carolina, he played his last—and undoubtedly best—season with a partial labrum tear in his nonthrowing shoulder. He spent most of his 55 games there piloting the entire the offense. He called his own protections starting his freshman year. Every run play would have three options Ahlers had to choose from at the line—an alert, a check or a check opposite. On each pass play, he had the green light to change anything based on what he saw."

That's the kind of preparedness and football intelligence that BB loves..
EDIT: Great find @p8ryts

Ragnar Lothbrok is semi-mythical. It's believed that the campaigns of a number of different Viking leaders who invaded Britain and Ireland are attributed to Ragnar Lothbrok, as a sort of boogie man character.

There is no evidence of his existence, and definitely no way he could be traced as anyone's direct descendant. His "sons" however, were all real people

Another one that reminds me of Purdy or Zappe. Just enough arm talent to make a few NFL throws a game. Pretty good pre snap ID'g pressure or any games up front a defense might be playing. Whether it's blitz off the edge, second level pressure. He's pretty cool from what I've seen. Hes able to manipulate a defense on certain occasions - mostly on designed plays but he's sells them well.

One of the few mid round rookies I'd want here.

There IS evidence of his existence. Claiming that there is no way to be traced as someone's descendent is also incorrect.

"The evidence to suggest Ragnar ever lived is scarce, but, crucially, it does exist. Two references to a particularly eminent Viking raider in 840 AD appear in the generally reliable Anglo-Saxon Chronicle which speaks of ‘Ragnall’ and ‘Reginherus’"

"Lothbrok is also mentioned in the Danish document Gesta Danorum, which contains historical information"

"there are a respectable number of historians who suggest that Ragnar did live"

If they could reunite him with Cropper or Nikko Remigio I'd be all for it.

I miss not dreaming of Hooker.
