2023 Mock Drafts

I’d love that, but I don’t think Hyatt nor Mallory will be available in those spots.

Hyatt should be gone before the end of round 2... Don't know enough about Mallory yet, but he's not somebody even on my Day-3 radar right now...
I'm sure things will scramble themselves again after the combine...

Last one pre combine, I promise...if we don't get Jaxon or Addison.......we're suckers lol, Wright or Evans OT's, Forbes or RIcks cb's, Hainley, Campbell or Pappoe LB's

What do you think of Wright's chances of staying at LT in the NFL? Normally dudes like he & Dawand Jones at their sizes give me pause...

Hyatt will probably be a first rounder after the Combine.

On the surface the Pats have IMHO these holes to fill as immediate needs OT, CB, WR, FS (assuming Dmac retires) A lot of the draft decisions will depend on what happens from the off season decisions that will be made before FA, then during the 6 or so weeks of FA, before the draft in late April. For example I think the decision on whether Trent Brown is kept at LT or goes back to RT (where I'd like him to be, next to Owenu) is the first big decision for Klemm. If he stays at LT, then the OT FA market gets a lot bigger and a guy like MacGlinchey becomes a real target. More potential RT's out there than left.

Also they have to decide on the OT's they have. Stuber will be coming back this summer ready to play, and they have liked him enough to wait this long for him. McDermont did better than anyone expected. Will they see enough potential improvement in him this off season for them to think he could be more than just a back up. Wynn is gone, Is Cajuste going too? All this will help determine what the Pats will do in the draft as far as OL help.

Historically they have had GREAT luck finding G's in the middle of the draft (3-5), but when they have decided they need an OT, they have historically gone after them higher (1-2) Another thing to consider is where the strength of the draft and FA are. I've seen people who believe the strongest and deepest areas of the draft will be RB, WR, FS, and Edge talent. And as usual, there will likely be at least 4 QB's taken in Rd 1.

IF and that's a big if, we can get the OL help we need in FA, then I would want my first 3 picks to be CB, DT, and WR in no particular order. If the CB's and DI's that I think are worth the #14 pick are gone, I'd likely look for a trade down and get another 2nd round pick (say down to 20-22) THEN I'd get the best CB and DT on the board and go from their. I believe there will be plenty of excellent WR prospects available all through the 2nd and 3rd rounds Having 3 picks in those 2 rounds will assure we get one.

Again at DT if we grab the Raven's FA DT (payne), then I'd be THRILLED with an interior group of Godcheax, Payne, Barmore, Guy and Ekule and forget about any early round DT's. Judon, Uche, Wise, and Jennings is a solid group to start with, but I'd like to add another pure edge guy as Uche is entering his contract year.

All that being said I'm going to try one of these Mocks. They look like so much fun

I would get Addison or Njigba in the first since the OT and CB positions have more depth, especially CB, go OT 2nd, CB or LB 3rd, CB or LB 4th, 5th FS, than DT-Edge.

Some of these mocks have a very inflated idea of what we'd get for a trade down from 14, it's more like this:
- to 15: a 6th rounder
- to 16: a 5th & a 7th
- to 17: a 4th
- to 18: a 3rd
- to 19: a 3rd & 6th
- to 20: a 3rd & 4th
- to 21 to 25: a 2nd

Trading up from 14:
- to 13: a 5th
- to 12: a 4th
- to 11: a 3rd & 5th
- to 10: a 2nd
- to 9: a 2nd & 3rd

Going to #20 and we would have a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds, and four 4ths. Very intriguing.

I am not a T Brown fan. I think we should release Brown and use his $12M cap savings on McGlinshey or another player. Time to reset.

Cajuste is much more physically gifted than McDermott but is always injured. Hope Cajuste can stay healthy and sign him at $3.4M RFA tender?

Hopefully Perkins matures into a keeper at OL/Edge. Mayo is working with the LBs and Jennings and Uche have improved with his tutelage.

I love all your picks except for 184. I think there will be someone else available.

Yep, I prefer Dorian Williams for us instead of Pace anyway.... Need another OLman at 184.

Or maybe have Seattle include a top-100 pick for next year's draft, in case we want to move up for a... QB...

Ran this one last night. Jayden Reed is rocketing up boards after the Senior Bowl, so I decided to steal him in the 4th for an F grade from the momos at PFF.

difficult as with time you get some binkies and you can't pass if there is nothing better to chose^^

Is the pff simulator down to 1/2 rounds only for everyone or is it just me??

I know they just updated the order and read they added player breakdowns for a lot of players, but it seems like it came at the cost of limiting it to two rounds. I hope they aren't waiting until the compensatory picks are announced.

This update seems to be the most favorable for the Pats. I did it twice and both times all 3 premium LT were available at 14.

I wasn't really sure where to go at 46 though. Would love to hear people's thinking on picking in in the second round of the PFF simulator? Would you go tackle in the second round if you went tackle in the first? Or would you draft at a position that really isn't a need because there is a good player there (edge, HB)? I often like to go receiver but I'm not a huge Hyatt fan (he seems very similar to Thornton to me), it also seems a little early for Rashee Rice or Parker Washington at 46.

The Patriots have traded up in or into the second round five years in a row, so that seems like a reasonable prediction in a mock and has a decent chance to grab quite a bit better of a player.

2022: 54 and 158 for 50
2021: 46, 122, and 139 for 38
2020: 71 and 98 for 60 and 129
2019: 56 and 101 for 45
2018: 63 and 117 for 56

And this is harsh because it’s a really cool tool overall, but PFF’s rankings are so out there sometimes that the process feels less like a mock draft and more like an evaluation of their rankings. The biggest discrepancy this year seems to be the small WRs, which makes it especially annoying to work with. For example, both Jeremiah’s top 50 rankings and Reuter’s two round mock say a small trade up to 40 is enough to get Zay Flowers. Brugler’s top 100 that just came out has him at 55, not even requiring a trade up. That doesn’t work on the PFF simulator because he’s long gone (20 in the one I just did).

PFF also says a trade up to 40 isn’t even enough to get Tank Dell, who went 37. Brugler’s top 100 has him at 86, and even that is one of the higher rankings I’ve seen outside of PFF.
