Nick Caley to the Rams

He shouldn’t be considered a “rising” coach judging from the meager production of his group of TEs in New England. Frankly, he should be demoted to coaching in the college ranks, at a place like UNLV.

The Rams expected offensive output just changed by 1/100000th of a point. Big news.

I called it he would have took a job anywhere else because he felt slighted.
I don’t think he is a big loss.
Our two overpaid tight ends have not wowed and prior to that Asiasi and Keene flunked right off the team.
If I was the Rams I wouldn’t have high expectations.

What is with the hype surrounding Caley, anyone know? I feel like I keep hearing his name with little understanding what makes him a sought after name.

This is what a “rising” coach looks like as a TE coach. William Peagler - Football Coach - Florida Gators Peagler worked directly with our soon to be departed I. Wynn when he was at Georgia.

Peagler reminds me of a young Nick Saban, but on the offensive side of the ball. In 2015 he was a high school coach in Olive Branch, Miss., and now he has Big Ten and SEC coaching experience. Clearly, he is going to the pros some day.

Oh well, our TE coach left for a job promotion as...TE coach.

Good point. I believe if Caley was important to the Patriots they would've found a way to keep him. It's hard to consider him a "rising star" when he's making a lateral move to another team because his contract expired.

Clearly Caley was not highly valued, unlike many said. Caley interviewed everywhere and took the only job he could get. Good for him. I wish him all the best and BOB hired his own coach which was BOB's decision. The offense will go in a new direction, and let's hope it is successful.

One Year Ago: “Bill knows what he’s doing blocking him from going to the Raiders, he’s a good young coach and we can use him.”

Today: “Good riddance he was never special or important we’ll be fine.”

I think it was BOB'S decision and he wanted his own coach. Sometimes good people are lost when change happens. Clearly the Pats offense is going in a new direction.

My theory is the guy is bright, otherwise Bill wouldn't have blocked him from interviewing w/ Raiders when Josh asked. Bill literally gave him a 5 lb bag of **** and told him: make it work. 39 yo Watson, Asiasi, LaCosse, Keene, Izzo. He finally brought in something decent but over rated: both HH and Smith produced about the same as their previous career averages.

Then, after he passes up play calling duties w/o a title, he witnesses the "Fat Matt- Here come's the Judge" clown show. He's probably one of the sources of the Herald article. At every interview when he was asked: What happened over there? He would say: Did you read the Herald article?

He now gets to work in a top notch facility w/ one of the most creative offensive minds in league, probably for 20% more in pay and 20% less hours. A 40% bump for a lateral move ain't bad. I'd take it.

Did it maybe occur to you that he was the best tight ends coach available a year ago and might've been hard to replace with others joining McDaniels? Or that his contract has expired and now with BOB aboard a new direction is preferred? Probably not, but don't let any of that get in the way of a chance to sarcastically bash BB.

I would hope that he understands that this is Mac’s make or break year and he needed a more experienced play caller running the show.

From his perspective I get it. I think he reached his limit here in NE. As far as offense not a lot better to learn from than McVay, could help him move up the coaching ladder in the future.

I am sure it is a lot more fun to work with McVay than Bill. Also probably better for future job prospects for an offense coach to work with McVay.
Doubt this is a meaningful loss for Pats staff with BoB coming in.

I agree. Not sure the Rams will be a force for awhile but probably a good move for Caley since BOB wants his own guys.
