the cap has been set, and the tag values set... let the tampering period begin...

cap is 224 million, tags are set, and we got about 32.5 million of bob krafts money to play with...

franchise (non-exclusive)/ transition tags:

Quarterback: $32,416,000 / $29,504,000

Running back: $10,091,000 / $8,429,000

Receiver: $19,743,000 / $17,991,000

Tight end: $11,345,000 / $9,716,000

Offensive line: $18,244,000 / $16,660,000

Defensive end: $19,727,000 / $17,452,000

Defensive tackle: $18,937,000 / $16,068,000

Linebacker: $20,926,000 / $17,478,000

Cornerback: $18,140,000 / $15,791,000

Safety: $14,460,000 / $11,867,000

Kicker/punter: $5,393,000 / $4,869,000

still bit surprised the league hasnt split the tackles, guards and centers... but then again who really franchises guards & centers...

Thanks for the update. If memory serves, I recall seeing the NFLPA wanted the offensive line combined to get that figure as high as possible.

I could see Schultz, Engram, Gesicki, Hurst, and maybe Hooper all getting tagged if they can't come to deals. Guven the production at that position now, it's woefully underpaid.
Edit: didn't realize that Shultz and Gesicki had both already been tagged. They won't likely get tagged again, I agree.

it ends up omitting guards and centers, because lets face it no one is paying 18m for a center or a tackle... i suppose it does prevent 3/5ths of the oline from getting tagged... typically its just the left tackle position

Gesicki has fallen didn’t the. Depth chart Smythe was there starting tight end.
They used gesicki more as a decoy and blocker which he didn’t love at first but then had a conversation with Coach McDaniel and worked hard on his blocking.
That being said he is starting tight end caliber I believe he jets with little to know resistance from Miami.

you think Hooper is a candidate to get tagged? I'm not sure about that...

I should find a list of potential tagging candidates for each team, get a better idea of what might be available

We should of franchised Thuney
we franchised tagged him once... some 14m... so if we did it again, its a 20% bump... so it would have been a one year deal for 17.6m +/- ... thats expensive for a guard...

He does have a 15 million dollar guaranteed salary next season, if i read otc correctly... maybe he hits free agency in 2024... but then again, maybe 15m a year for a high caliber guard is worth it for them...

I would love to get Hooper - Gesicki or Hurst at a reduced price and move on from H Henry. That should save us some $$$.

Who is available at Safety? Time to think about replacing DMAC.... Don't view Any of Phillips/Duggar/Peppers as a replacement...

I’ve had my eyes on Gesicki since college,
If Henry was a bit faster and quicker he would be elite but he is too easily covered by most backers and has little YAC.

I have hopes that Obrein can coach Smith to be the kind of player I saw glimpses of with the Titans.

If Bates comes available I would throw a money truck at him.
Followed by CJ Gardener Jonnson.
In my opinion getting that safety is priority number 1 followed by Edmunds from Buff and a number 1 receiver and a slot monster.

I think Berrios may come available.

I would be very happy with

1. Bates or Johnson
2. Edmunds
3. Berrios, Jeudy, Hopkins a combo of the 2.
4. O line
5. D line

This is assuming we resign Jonathan Jones.

Its nice having a veteran back at FS who can direct traffic. I honestly dont know much about any of the available guys.

I wonder if the Patriots would feel comfortable with Dugger back there - generally not having to trail receivers but keeping them in front of him instead? He’s better playing downhill than upfield, so I wonder if this would work? Because I can see Belichick falling in love (no pun intended) with Julian Love from the Giants. Will be 25 years old. 4th round pick in 2019. Evolved from backup Jack-of-all-trades in the defensive backfield (strong safety, outside corner, slot) to starting strong safety captain with the green dot when Brian Daboll came in this year. Special teams ace. Tremendous in run support. Teammates love him and call him the glue of the defense. Pretty much everything Belichick values. He wants to stay with the Giants but he also wants to get paid, I can see him being a surprise “overpay” signing by Belichick if he makes it to free agency.

BB will re-sign Jonathan Jones and move him to McCourtys FS spot.

Zero chance that Gesicki gets tagged for the second year in a row. He was an afterthought in the new offense.

I’d be shocked if Hearst or Cooper got tagged. They are simply not impactful enough in the passing game. TEs with 40 to 50 catches, 400 to 500 yards with two TDs don’t get tagged.

Schultz is possible, but he is going to have a big number because it would be his second tag and his receiving stats dipped last year relative to his 2021 breakout year.

Engram is the most likely candidate out of that group, although I suspect that the Jaguars will sign him to a long-term contract rather than tag him.

I am not an expert on Xs and Os, however, Duggar sure seems like a prototypical SS. Rodney Harrison/Troy Polamalu type (not comparing him to those players, just the role)... strong in run support/covers TEs / lines up closer to line of scrimmage. I view Phillips and Peppers to be closer to this role as well with Peppers acting more as Hybrid LB/S.

BB doesn't typically like to move players in to positions that aren't their strength (weakening two positions). Again, I am no expert but, but it seems like a direct FS replacement is needed.

Which of the Duggars is a candidate? Hopefully not the oldest brother--he should be in jail for what he did to his sisters. But then again, when you have 19 siblings, there's not enough parental supervision.

How about TE Michael Mayer @ 14 baby Gronk he'll be right there. I think Bob might be tempted really good player would give Mac easy targets in the RZ. We have an anemic Offense Mayer would get back the middle of the field and put our Offense back on the map.

agreed on Jesse Bates... he was tagged last year, iirc... so its very possible that he will hit actual free agency this time round... He's a pretty good free safety, and is only 26...
