Reports are the Pats may upgrade the WRs through trade (not necessarily Hopkins)

That was a lot of fun. Rookie year of 90rec, 1132yds, 6tds - team went from 6-10 to 11-5. One of these decades I want the Pats to hit on a WR like that right off the bat despite the hamstring pull before the season started (though sadly that was Glenn's best year, imho). Helped he got picked at #7.
Terry Glenn D-I-D good here .

A completely meaningless stat - isn't even a real stat.
How is separation a useless stat? We need to get Mac more easy throws then having everything contested.

Speaks volumes of the Patriots WR evaluation process trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Please Bob fix that glaring flaw!
They got Parker for basically nothing, so... the choice was between Parker and ... no Parker.

Was so upset when we traded him,
I had just gotten my Glenn Jersey he was my favorite receiver back then.
When he made the game winning play against the Chargers i thought that Brady ti Glenn connection is special.

Come to think of it when Bill came in and cut Coates,Slade, I believe Willie Clay, It made me piss Pete.

Terry Glenn was talented and led a very hard life. He was not the groceries Parcells wanted to shop for. Who can forget that Parcells referred to TG as she because he was taking time coming back from injury? That would not fly these days.

Getting in on the former Pats WR argument.

Terry Glenn > DaVante Parker and it's not even close. Quite insulting to Glenn even disgussing it.

No. Willie Clay was let go in 1999 in favor of the worst FS the Pats had prior to Jordan Richards in Chris Carter. That was just another horrible move that led to Carroll and Grier's downfall. Despite Milloy making Pro Bowl/All Pro, the entire secondary was getting shredded almost weekly in 1999.

No more old receivers or budget receives. Give me a pro bowl receiver!
How can all these teams pick good receivers but BB can’t for the life…outside drafting Edelman and Gronk, any other worthy receivers that actually amounted to anything over the last 10+ years?

I feel that Brady saved BB big time over the years on the offensive side of the ball with his mediocre WR picks.

And Chase. I mean Burrow is going to get at least $40 million a year fully or mostly guaranteed. And Chase is going to command probably $25 million or more a year mostly guaranteed. Burrow is likely to get his deal this off-season. Chase probably next offseason.

And last time I checked, the Bengals have the cheapest owner in the NFL. No way is he going to pay Burrow, Chase, Higgins, and Boyd.
Boyd is the odd man out. That's what they were saying. His reps were down this year and he's their #3. He's 28 and cutting him would save the team $8-$9M. Boyd is a #2 type WR imho.

I do think it's hilarious that people seem to be writing Thorton off already. It's like no one remembers that Matt Patricia's play-calling had a direct affect on Thorton. Patricia completely misused Thornton.

Thornton excels at plays where he's on the move and hit in stride. That means no hitches, outs, or button-hooks. You should look at slants, deep slants, go's, Posts, and Corner routes. That way he's hit in stride and can turn it on from there. Having him run hitches, wheel's button-hooks and even WR screen aren't the best use of his abilities. Because you're asking him to start from a complete stop. Though he does accelerate quickly, unless he's got clear lanes, it's going to be tough for him to get the large YAC on those sorts of routes.

Because it really can't be measured, and any attempt at that is a joke. You can see it with your own eyes, but measuring it as a stat is a joke.

e.g., N'keal was very poor at separating, that we can all agree on. But Parker can dominate games and top CB's like Gilmore, so if some stat is saying he can't separate, then the problem is with the stat.

Technology?

I would like to see Kristian Wilkerson get a chance.

What the heck does that mean?? He's still in the league you cant make these things up.
Just being sarcastic brother. It’s painful that we end up dropson and Nkeal in drafts where we actually draft WRs yet several WR that go after them end up elite. Many of here were hoping to get Keenan Allen at that time

Separation means different things depending on the play call and the defense that's why it's hard to measure. You could measure it by how close the nearest defender is but again the defense and the play call matters.

A WR running a cross with one step on a corner who is running directly behind him is great separation, but if that receiver is running the same route against a zone and doesn't sit in between the zones he could have no one within feet of him on any side but not be open at all because he's running towards a zone. For me separation is how open you get which is difficult to measure because open means different things based on the offensive play call and the defense they run it against.

Separation is an eye test metric imo, which makes it harder to properly quantify.

Cool I don't want Allen at this time he's too injury prone and seems like he's been around a while. That said I am sorry we didn't draft him.

I'd much rather see the Pats plug in draft pick with high upside than needs development in the last WR spot. A boarderline practice squad guy is less likely to emerge as top receiver with some development than a blue chip receiving prospect. I'd like to see the Pats trade for a guy like Hopkins then also pick a slot receiver in the first three rounds.

I don't mind Trading for Hopkins but not for a Second in this particular Draft. I think you can get a Starter in the Second in this Draft.
