Reports are the Pats may upgrade the WRs through trade (not necessarily Hopkins)

I enjoyed watching Parker, but you must have a different definition of talent than I do. Parker was dead last in separation for the last 3 years (2 with MIA and 1 with NE).
Yeah listen to the man.

I love Meyers, but I don't want to give him top-of-the-market $$$$ just because he is the best AVAILABLE WR. If Meyers wants "WR2" money...sign me up. I mean we should only pay him half of what Adams/Hill/Kupp make....which is about 14/15M a year. If someone else wants to overbid...let them....
I think Meyers stays for $12.5M AAV. Anything less, you can't blame him for leaving. That's about 5.5% of the cap. Is he worth that? Idk but he's a hell of a lot more productive than HH & JS who are making that.

What offense is out there that will be a juggernaut when they add Meyers? KC? Rams? Some very good team is going to add Meyers and we will all be saying "why can't we get guys like that?"

Someone is going to to overpay for him and he's going to excel.

I would cry if they give Meyers 15Mill this a good year to get solid young WR from the Draft. Lets go the route again even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. Just don't let BB make the pick or do the evaluations BB and WR are like oil and water.

A completely meaningless stat - isn't even a real stat.

At his best, Parker is a #1. The challenge is getting him to play to that level more consistently.

Davante will cost them $40m+ over the next 2 years. Then they have to cut him and they'll incur a $15.5m cap hit.

Tyreek Hill is getting $55m over the next 2 years.

The market is $20-25m plus for top #1s.

As we saw with the Chark, Allen Robinson, a few other signings, it's $10-$15m for #2s.

Not really he pointed that out way before the season started there we games where Parker got 45 snaps and 0 catches.

I like Parker but I'd really take Terry Glenn, Troy Brown, Wes Welker, Deion Branch, and Julian Edelman over him if I had to choose.
I'm not comparing him to slot receivers but to #1's. Glenn probably was more talented, I had forgotten him.

You're not going to replace them though.

The guys you mentioned have been with HOF QBs in high powered offenses, so what's their excuse? Ju-Ju? Hardman? I mean Chark is pretty awful.

You're sneering at Jakobi's production when it's harder to produce when the offense stinks, your QB is Cam, and there's no one on the team occupying the Ds attention.
As someone who has paid incredibly close attention to Jakobi's career (probably more than anyone on this forum except relatives and maybe NC State fans), I do have to say that having Byrd as the other WR was important during the Cam year, as he usually took the faster DBs with him and got the attention of the safeties. When we picked up Parker, I couldn't think of a worse person to pair with Jakobi.

Not going to lie Terry Glenn is my favorite Patriots WR all time.

Speaks volumes of the Patriots WR evaluation process trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Please Bob fix that glaring flaw!

It's certainly a real stat, and it looks like we disagree a fair amount over its value, so hence our different definitions of talent.

Jim B: I remember BOB having some success with a Thornton Nine Route clone Will Fuller what do you think??

And that's my thing with Meyers he's not like Edelman or Welker he just doesn't have their quicks. This Offense lacks those walking first downs from the Slot.
Meyers has been top 10 in the league in 3rd down conversions for two consecutive years. He does it differently, but is an excellent third down receiver.

That's a big risk (almost like Parker) with all the injuries. Looks like he didn't play in '22?

Duly noted but I see some sure Slot types from the upcoming Draft who should thrive in the Slot from Day 1.

Zay Flowers - Josh Downs and Marvin Mims I am sure Bob is aware.

I am just saying I saw Bob used him to his strengths which I think he'll do the same with TThornton.

That was a lot of fun. Rookie year of 90rec, 1132yds, 6tds - team went from 6-10 to 11-5. One of these decades I want the Pats to hit on a WR like that right off the bat despite the hamstring pull before the season started (though sadly that was Glenn's best year, imho). Helped he got picked at #7.
