Interesting shout that BoB may go back to the Tide for an offensive draft pick. Watched most of the Alabama games this season and the offence was really Bryce young with some help from Jahmyr Gibbs. WRs were nowhere near the level of previous years i.e. Smith, Wiliams, Ruggs, Waddell, Mechie, Jones, Ridley etc. Not sure who else would be on his radar. OL wasn't great.
Definitely a year where you saw the lack of explosive weapons at the WR position. Just shows how impressive those last few years were at WR.

Outstanding now get me a starting QB that can teach Mac Jones to be an NFL starting QB. Someone like, yes, Brady or Rodgers or rule Jones OUT.

Again this stats means nothing if you don’t had context.

They average 27ppg because of the 3 blow out.

In the 3 blow out they averaged 49.6 ppg. The rest of the season (14 games, 83% of the season), they averaged 22.35 ppg.

There is a difference, at least in my mind, between a team that score 27 points consistently and a team that have 3 outlier games that bump a lot their average points scored.

Median vs mean

let's face it, if you've made it to the upper tier of NFL coaching ranks (coordinator level and above), you know the game, you know X's & O's - success at that point becomes far more nuanced, and relationships and trust are a huge part of it......
I assume that was BBs thought process when appointing Patricia and Judge

Neither player are on the same level as those two and can’t do the same thing. The two TE sets worked because of Gronk and Hernandez not because of the scheme.
There's a lot of daylight between peak Gronk/Hernandez and what we've seen the last two years, which can't possibly be the best Smith/Henry can do.

I got a feeling I overpaid for my autographed Zappe Jersey and Helmet,
I really think they are planning to build around Mac.
Don't give up hope. Back in 2001 Brady clearly had out played Drew in preseason. The offense at the time was a perfect fit for what Brady did best, and NOT a good fit for Drew. It was only a matter of time before Brady took over in 2001. Bledsoe's injury was just a lucky excuse to what was inevitable. Or so we are told by the chroniclers of the time. I think only the fact Drew had just signed that massive contract that he lasted as a starter as long as he did. Totally wrong offense for him.

Ergo, if Zappe clearly out performs Jones in preseason, I believe he'd get the job, plain and simple. There is no huge contract obstacle to hold the staff back. In fact I'm glad Mac will have someone pressing him in camp. Competition always brings out the best in others. That being said its Mac's job to lose.

That makes no sense. An OC position would have included a multi-year contract which would have locked him in place absent a departure for a head coaching position.
my understanding is that you can have a 10 year contract with an OC, but you CANNOT stop him from seeking a HC's job in ANY year of the contract. The best you can do is keep him from seeking another OC job with a long contract. That's is what it is.

As much as we want to spin things in Pats direction, it definitely wasn't a positive relationship... May not be a dealbreaker.
Hopkins age bothers me he seems like a two year rental at best but I wouldn't give up a valuable Second Rounder this year for him. Maybe a Third and a a Fourth if it comes to that.

I don't think such a contract is even legal in the NFL since teams cannot block coordinators from seeking promotions. However, ever since going to Penn State, BOB has developed a personal "rule" that he's stuck to and made widely known that he makes two-year commitments. He stayed at PSU for 2 years even though he was offered HC jobs in the NFL after 1 year. He was at Houston for a while. Then at Alabama, he probably could've left in 2022 for an NFL coordinator job somewhere (NE, most likely) but stayed, and Belichick likely was honoring that as well. So I kind of assume that him signing here also carries a two-year commitment, even if it's not on paper.
I feel like I've been long conned: "I think we need to do what we're doing better. I don't think at this point making a lot of dramatic changes - it's too hard to do that." BB's wanted BOB back as soon as McD told him he's probably leaving for a HC position. Patty was just in there like a body double in an adlt flick going through pretend motions just to get lighting and camera angles all set up for the talent.

His concern was a HC departure.

Scoring was dramatically down across the league this season. Defenses catching up? Probably.
I feel like I've been seeing a lot of PI and illegal contact not getting called this year. Probably just selective memory, but it's just been blatant.

Yes, that's one prevailing thought - the BOB hire was pre-determined but unavailable until 2023 and thus Bill needed someone to run the show in the "gap" year. The first choice was likely Nick Caley, but Caley allegedly rebuked the request and said he would not do it without being promoted. Thus, we ended up with the Patty n' Judge Show.

No Zappe wont.

The only way that Jones is not the starter is if he cant go. Kraft already stated months ago that he wanted BOB in 2023 to coach QB Jones. Today, BOB is in house. Done deal. Kraft also stated that he wants BOB as HC when BB is out. The longer the playoff win drought lasts the more Kraft gains power and control from BB.
