The Wolf and Groh are still the personnel guys and BB is the HC / GM. They will continue to make the final decisions on who to draft...including WR.

Apparently, Bill's thoughts on that were that Caley would move on in '23 and wanted to avoid a 3rd OC in 3 years for Mac. As it turns out, Mac is ending w/ a 3rd OC anyway, which makes the decision to go w/ MP even more baffling.
That makes no sense. An OC position would have included a multi-year contract which would have locked him in place absent a departure for a head coaching position.

Brady had one of his mvp seasons under Bob (First ever unanimous mvp), and he’s worked with Mac before

Pretty excited about this upgrade at OC

Another added benefit is he’ll have familiarity with Alabama players and other players in the SEC, which could help with the draft

In all honesty, I think it kinda was. BOB was their target all along and Caley didn’t really have a shot. So he was kinda the backup in case BOB would very surprisingly refused the job.
Maybe it was. However if they didn't get BOB I think Caley had a real shot.

But according to the metrics that you use to compare coaching success, BoB has never won anything. Not w/ one of the top franchises in the NFL, not w/ the top College program in the FBS, and not w/ elite talent (Watson/Hopkins) in Texas.

This isn't a knock on BoB since he's a good coach, just feeding you some of your own nonsense.
No, that's not mine. You bathe in the stuff.

Not really sure we can say they effectively worked together. BOB has never coached Mac. Mac helped BOB learn the 'Bama offense before he started in 2021 as Mac was leaving for the NFL.

There is a relationship there but we don't know how the player/coach relationship will develop. It could go great. It could go horribly.

Very excited about this. Obviously alot of work still needs to be done but this had to happen. Offseason off to a good start.

True, but clearly Mac liked working with BoB enough to be excited about the hire today and BoB liked Mac enough to not steer clear of hitching his HC aspirations to Mac and the Pats. I think it bodes well.

I think they would have known before the interview stage if they didn't have BoB in the bag. And if that was the case, the interviews would have been very different and included a lot more candidates.

It def bodes well. Just saying it's not entirely accurate to say they've worked together.

Since they are talking to Klemm again for an OL coach role, I have to assume that the same goes for Jefferson, who will likely be displaced as Arizona's WR coach once they hire a new HC there.

Unless Troy Brown is out, I doubt it.

I'm not sure about that. BB is picky.

I’m thinking the plan is to build around Mac.
- Trade for Hopkins (Yes, I know the history with BOB, but they are professionals)
- Re-Sign J. Meyers. Jones #1 target. Security blanket.
- Hire an experienced OL coach to develop Strange and get this line performing at its best.
- Draft a T in the 1st. Depending on who’s available maybe a small trade down, pickup Broderick Jones and some more draft capital.
- Although not seen as a need, watch out for Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs in round 2. Great hands/Receiver out of backfield.

IMO of course

On the Hopkins point - yeah, there was some fallout when he was traded but that was also a really weird time with Jack Easterby coming into the organization and getting his hands into things... It's possible that perhaps there's not really bad blood between Hopkins and O'Brien, and if that's the case, then perhaps O'Brien's familiarity with Hopkins would prove to be an advantage. That is possibly wishful thinking but hey, could happen.

I understand looking at T in the first but I feel like there are better players available at #14 at other spots where they also have needs, like corner. You can still target tackle with your many other picks in the draft, they have quite a few.

Interesting shout that BoB may go back to the Tide for an offensive draft pick. Watched most of the Alabama games this season and the offence was really Bryce young with some help from Jahmyr Gibbs. WRs were nowhere near the level of previous years i.e. Smith, Wiliams, Ruggs, Waddell, Mechie, Jones, Ridley etc. Not sure who else would be on his radar. OL wasn't great.
