He committed to Saban to stay for the contract he signed hopefully he does the same for BB
And maybe this was the end game regardless. They were planning for BOB the whole time but they needed a stop gap year, that didn't go anywhere near as planned

Maybe the Pats signed BoB to a three year contract with a non-compete meaning he's not going anywhere for the duration.

We don't know for sure.
I don't think such a contract is even legal in the NFL since teams cannot block coordinators from seeking promotions. However, ever since going to Penn State, BOB has developed a personal "rule" that he's stuck to and made widely known that he makes two-year commitments. He stayed at PSU for 2 years even though he was offered HC jobs in the NFL after 1 year. He was at Houston for a while. Then at Alabama, he probably could've left in 2022 for an NFL coordinator job somewhere (NE, most likely) but stayed, and Belichick likely was honoring that as well. So I kind of assume that him signing here also carries a two-year commitment, even if it's not on paper.

One was 3x SB winner and 2x SB MVP, 2x league MVP. The other was one the the worst QB in the league.

Now it’s time to produce or go home for Mac. There isn’t Patricia to take the fall now.
Mac has produced, he produced really well under Josh I expect him to be back to himself.. not the BB/Patricia high octane offensive spell he was under...

2022 will forever be the lost season..

It was one of the remarkable coaching jobs of all time. Great point, Ross. And they ran a sophisticated pro-style offense. And the kids were able to be taught it.
I live in Pennsylvania and watch decent amount of PSU football, it was a really wild year. People thought they might win 1 or 2 games. BOB was on fire.

I bet Mac and BOB will get along well.
I also assume this deal came along with stipulations on both sides.
I hope one of them is that Caley (or another asst.) will be more involved in playcalling training.

I vote for Or Another Assistant.

Ok let’s not rewrite history to make last season some freaking master plan. Belichick believed that the Matt Patricia experiment would work. He was also completely cost controlled which helps. And if it did work he’d look like a freaking genius.

It didn’t work. That’s what it is. And now he’s likely understood that and know he needs a real freaking coach.

He’s admitting his mistake (or being pressured to). That’s not a bad thing. It’s good! It makes me actually want him to still stay the coach! But don’t pretend last year treading water was the plan to keep the seat warm for BoB. It wasn’t.

BOB is the easiest transition to making this a truly productive offense. However, he may be the most likely of the candidates to bolt for another head coaching position.

Also, we’ve got three former head coaches on staff—Texas displacing Detroit at OC—and we all hope there’s no behind-the-scenes drama.

I fully expect Patricia to stay as OL coach and be given several other titles like what Adrian Klemm has at Oregon: run game coordinator and assistant head coach.

I agree with many on the necessity of Joe Judge going back to ST.

A big question going into next season will be Nick Caley and the lack of production from the TE group. I have doubts about him.

The new OC won’t get much done until the OL performs consistently. A healthy, motivated Trent Brown, likely moved back to RT where he belongs, and a new LT.

One free agent tackle to consider is SF’s RT, McGlinchey. That might mean Brown stays at LT where his effectiveness is diminished because of lack foot speed.

BOB’s first tough duty will be bringing in a new WR coach. Love Troy Brown. But there was a lack of development and coaching in that group.

Kendrick Bourne will have a big season coming up.
Good lord, please no more Trent Brown at LT.... Not sure I even want him at RT.

If Pats can sign a top WR and one great Tackle I really don't think we are far off in terms of offense with improved playcalling. Assuming they resign Meyers as well..

Them good ole boys don’t play when it comes to the Tide. Ole fat Matt would turn up missing.
Patricia cant DC either?

Whats going to happen when yall revolt against BOB? He got himself fired at Houston with Watson at QB and Alabama fans are way happier than you folks are today.

Why do people ignore that Brady made BOB, Mickey D and so many other people who cashed in?

I’m torn on this.
I can guy he was waiting on Bob.
However, I believe Bill believed that him, Patricia and Judge would be better than average.
I think he miscalculated badly the performance of Patricia and Judge coaching offense.
This waiting for Bob would explain why Bill
Was adamant to not name titles, and take the good credit and bad credit for the product.
Not to mention Kraft was getting free labor out of Judge and Patricia.

BOB the GM killed BOB the HC in Houston.

.
Hopefully we got him to sign a 3 year deal at least. We need continuity for Mac !
He can take a HC job from another team at any time, even with a 3 year contract.

That being said, it has been written that BOB commits for at least 2 years and honors that commitment.

Great news I want BoB to have a say in who we Draft @ WR him being in the College game should give us an advantage. Stay clear of that decision BB.

The should get back to scoring 25ppg or more.

Still not enough to compete punch for punch with the Bills, Bengals and Queefs but respectable nonetheless.

He didn’t really produced really well under Josh. He was below average for the majority of the season. The 3 blow out against the Jets, the Browns without an offense and the Jags with half their team on the Covid list really masks what he really did his first year which is not much.

the 3 blow out
3G 8 TD 0 INT 127.1 RTG

Rest of the season
14G 14 TD 13 INT 87.1 RTG

this year
14G 14 TD 11 INT 84.8 RTG

Only happens in a good scenario. He’s not a candidate if the Pats offense doesn’t significantly rebound.
Just having BoB we'll be worlds better that said they need someone to learn under him. I would bring in one of the McCardell- Jefferson or Klemm give them a bump in salary if Caley decides to leave. Let's have a back up plan BoB is well known in the NFL which stands for Not For Long.
