Reports are the Pats may upgrade the WRs through trade (not necessarily Hopkins)

The Patriots are definitely building, but I don’t believe it’s a rebuild at this point. So I don’t agree with you.
A distinction without a difference.

There’s a considerable difference. A rebuild is when you have to do everything from the ground up, building is when you have a gods number of pieces in place, but have to add more to be a true contender. Teams like the Texans are rebuilding, teams like the Bronco’s and Patriots are building.

.

I can’t believe a fan of Boston teams believes that every sports team owner cares about winning after decades of the Bruins doing anything to make money whether or not it meant they wouldn’t win a Stanley Cup.
Give me a break. Not every owner is created equal. You wanna compare jacobs to the Walton’s? Lololol. This recent purchase was for more than jacobs net worth. The fact that you trying to make me look bad while saying this is funny as hell

Okay, try convincing a player with a no-trade of that.

Cooks is the one that wants out, and he has a good relationship with Belichick. The Patriots aren’t an elite team but they aren’t dogsh.t either. I have no idea if he wants to come to NE or not, but it makes sense for them to look into it.

I think he wants to go to a team that has higher win probability and possibly Superbowl aspirations. He is not going to come to us . Most likely dolphins , jets if they land Carr , chargers, Bengals, chiefs , raiders if Brady lands there or Bills or Cowboys. Worst case option might be packers .

Patriots will be in middle rung or lower pecking order . I don't know about build or rebuild , all I know is we cannot compete for the Superbowl this year as well unless Thornton turns out to become like Hill and Mac becomes Joe burrow and we find LT of future by prying from Chiefs.

I’ve been hemming and hawing on this one. Cooks is better than any of our current wideouts, knows the system already, succeeded in it, and can likely be had for just a 3rd rounder, which we could easily recoup if we trade back from 14 to 20. But he’s not an elite number 1, he hasn’t played his best when it matters most (SB 52 for us, SB 53 against us), and will take up a decent amount of cap space for that. At the end of the day I’d probably say yes, but are hoping they can find someone else better first.

He said he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild. That’s the Texans, Broncos, Bears, Falcons, etc. Pats are one of the middling teams that can compete for a playoff spot. He might view himself as the guy who puts them over the top into real contention. Or he may want to be a complementary piece with the Chiefs or a team like that where he may not touch the ball as much but is guaranteed to go deep into the Postseason. He hasn’t really made comments on that front. Will be interesting to see what happens here.

I like cooks and hed probably be alot cheaper than the others in terms of draft capital given up. but i think hed be getting like $18m per if i am reading correct info. Imagine that part of it would have to be redone.

Maybe you are right. But bears should not be considered a rebuild because of ton of draft assets and cap space . They should be instantly elevated this season and they can possibly get 2-3 high draft picks by trading down and building a strong base for the future .

Well, he was open for a touchdown on a pass that was badly underthrown.

They have had a good team for years, but the Jacobs won’t spend to put them over the top. That said Montgomery has them playing great hockey.
The Jacobs stopped being a problem when the NHL adopted a hard salary cap. They spend as much as allowed. Any concerns with the product on the ice are due to Sweeney and Neeley. Hard to complain this year, the team is really on a roll.

We cat just keep depending on veterans . Next leadership line needs to be developed. I think we got lucky with extended period with Brady, Gronk, Edelman, white, amendola, Hogan, burkhead, develin, slater,McCourty, high tower, Andrews and FA gems in Butler and JC .

Now we need to develop the next in line and rebring focus on coaching and that starts with removing deadwood like Patricia, judge, brown and Achord.

oh i agree, McCourty is going to retire and its time... but a middle of the pack FS is going to be savage to watch.

A good FS cleans up a lot on the backend that doesnt always get noticed. Im very nervous about what happens to our secondary losing a foundational piece and leader like McCourty

“Don’t want to be part of a rebuild” = “Don’t want a crap quarterback”

Well, he was open for a touchdown on a pass that was badly underthrown.
And then let McCourty knock it right out of his hands.

He also dropped a potential touchdown pass (perfectly thrown ball into double coverage) the play before Gilmore’s interception. Gilmore was tugging on his arm on that play. But again, an elite #1 would likely have come down with at least one of those catches.

The Bears are much closer to rebuild, but it looks like they have their QB, as well as the assets to build faster than others.

The Patriots only had one #1 WR during the Brady years, that was Randy Moss, and they didn’t win a SB with him. That wasn’t his fault, but it’s still a fact. Cooks isn’t a # 1, but he’s a really good WR who could definitely improves their WR corps, and at a cost in both picks and $$ they could easily work into their plan. The Patriots still have numerous needs, but they have money and picks to address them with, Cooks would be a good addition,
I never got the fascination with Cooks. Good player, to be sure, but the fact that he bounces from team to team leads me to believe there's a reason teams don't hang on to him.

An improved version or Deion Branch. Upgraded to Branch 2.0.

Seems like Cooks been in the league forever I'd kick the tires again he runs nice routes.

2024 we are definitely going to see Brandon aiyuk be available for trade . Similarly tee Higgins , Jeudy and few more . Let's not waste cap space this year on another agholor or a wr who is rapidly aging like Julio or Hopkins . Draft highly rated TE and WR and get them playing time on 2023 . Move away from Henry . He is not worth 14 million . Besides Henry will not be there for 2024. Move his snaps to Jonnu and hope he at least perfoems as a mid rung TE.
When you choose to draft one player or position, you are inevitably and inewscapably choosing thereby NOT to draft another player/position at that point in the draft. It'd be fun to draft some (merely possiblly) hotshot receiver early on, I suppose, but in doing so, you are choosing NOT to fix the O-line with the early picks, which is far more important, for reasons I mention above.
