Mayo negotiations + OC interviews next week

Thats a **** job.

That team is a highway jammed with broken losers.
Wilks did a good job going 4-2 to end the season and if the beat TB would've won the division. They have a lot of good young players and a good running game. Darnold played better towards the end. They have #9, #40, #61 & # 93 picks and 3 more <143.

I know nothing about their ownership so maybe you're right.

What I take away most about this announcement is that Kraft is pissed and Belichick is on notice. In almost two and a half decades of Belichick coaching they never had an announcement like this. This is Kraft telling the fan base that they know Belichick messed up royally with the offensive coaching staff when McDaniels left and they are not going to mess up the coaching staff on either side of the ball this year.

I think Denver too, right?

The problem is that this Rooney Rule requires all of these teams with HC openings to interview two external minority candidates so Mayo could unfortunately be one of the two boxes that need to be checked.
Maybe, but he went through 3 interviews last season and its a process where you have to get in the queue. This NEP extension is going to say to teams: if Pats don't want to lose him, there must be good potential there.

He's in a good position. He's smart, likeable and charismatic. He'll be a HC one day.

Make fun of Steve all you want. Defense has been pretty good, especially considering the lack of talent

To keep him they probably need to name him Assistant Head Coach as well as Defensive Coordinator, with a clear path to succeed Belichick in a few years.

Glad to see Bill isn't pushing Steve as DC. Bill should also encourage his kids to find jobs on other teams as they will never garner enough respect if they only work for Bill.

I've said that about Steven the last 2 years. I've felt that it would actually improve them as coaches to see different styles. I mean, Belichick worked for Ted Marchibroda, Tommy Hudspeth, Red Miller, and Ray Perkins before Parcells. So it would be good for Steven to do that..

But they'd already sent out a "We promise to change this **** up" email to the season ticket holders. That's what makes this even more bizarre than it would otherwise have been.
That came out before BB and RK had a meeting to see where they go from here. This was post that meeting.

I dont know of it means Kraft is pissed. Definitely dissatisfied, which may only be a slight difference. But I think he’s listening to the local media bashing them. Today was rough. Most people, including myself, were wondering whether what bb told Kraft was lip service. I think this is kraft reassuring the masses that it wasn’t

I don’t think Bill is capable of thinking about heirs apparent. He coaches one game at a time and never to look too far ahead. I think the negotiations are to be DC and there are no promises of taking over the team when Bill leaves. I think this is all about making it impossible for other teams looking for a DC to hire him.

The Curran piece from yesterday spawned this (and this press release is a good thing)...and BB saying that he wasn't bashing ownership by saying twice that they Pats were 27th in spending the last three years.

I think he is pissed. He made it clear before the season that he didn’t agree with making Patricia OC, but Belichick earned the right to make personnel decisions he didn’t agree with. And this choice not only because a subject of discussion and ridicule across the league, it caused the Patriots to become an unwatchable product and his potential franchise QB was tarnished by the poor coaching and drama.

And Kraft obviously wasn’t happy that Belichick threw him under the bus by claiming the team doesn’t spend money in free agency even if it was unintentional. Hence why Belichick had to call Jim McBride and issue a clarification of his statement.

It’s all the blow he’s doing before games.

Just an irrational argument you make. I have had a lot of problems with the team, but the defense, based on talent, isn’t one of them. You want to say mayo has actually run it and that’s why it’s been good, fine. But Steve has been a lone bright spot as far as I see it. You’re a hater and are blinded by the fact it’s bills kid. Irrational

As an aside, all women now count as minorities for the purpose of this rule (given how few there are in the league).

You clearly missed the fact that it’s a bit of an inside joke between myself and @venecol. He likes to post that pic in the Brady forum. There’s still time to delete this.

Yea, that media leak about "significant changes" followed by no firings and under the radar interviews was weak AF. I thought it was a bunch of BS. Glad to see this press release.

Train wreck of an ownership
