It is time for BB to move on , this from a forever BB apologist, he has gotten a tad too head strong and his persistence has impacted this team. He can still be some sort of football advisor for Kraft & the Patriots if he wants to stay involved. Patricia should move upstairs in an Ernie Adams type role, fire Cam Achord & Joe Judge.

My suggested Coaching Line Up:
Jerrod Mayo HC, a lot of folks think this is folly but promoting from within for what seems to be a league wide interest in him, is a good move.
Steven Belichick Ass't HC, Defensive Coordinator
Offensive Coordinator, have heard Nick Caley is worthy of consideration, if not someone who is familiar with the Pats system.. not much good installing a third offense in 3 years, tweak this one
QB Coach, desperate need for a coach who can help and keep Mac Jones focused and prepared.

Lots more holes to fill ST Coordinator, LB Coach, RB Coach and various other coaches.. the Pats have been too lean in the coaching dept. for a while now.

I don’t think wr and OT issues can be adressed via free agency as it currently stands
I don’t see any free agent wr I would like here despite maybe smith Schuster on a 10 Million Deal around
Since I would agholor walk and only resign meyers if he Doesn’t find a team paying him over like the surprising deal for Kirk last season i don’t bring meyers back
You can find reliable slot wr on day 2 of the draft ( flowers, dell..)
The OT with McGary, McGlinchey are run blockers fit to a run heavy scheme
It really depends on possible new offense coaches and the direction of the blocking schemes ( gap/power or more zone) and the offense identity, if those tackles are a fit
I think other names such as brown or taylor are getting contracts much higher than their performance justifies
Also we have a good draft slot and May find a Partner for a trade down because this OT draft class has more quantity than top tier quality
The top OT for me all habe their stuff to work on and need good coaching to teach their ceiling , some of them are not as ready as other recent top drafted tackles
But there are quit a few OT I think could be a good fit and develop into a good starting tackle
Wright - RT - first round value
Harrison- LT - First rd value
Bergeron-LT- day 2
Paris johnson - LT - top 15?
Dawand Jones - RT big Mauler type- 1-2 round

So in my opinion we could fill in the defense needs via free agency since for the overall team building I think it’s a better fit
For example could be bradberry a CB we pursuit as a complement to jack jones on the other side with Marcus in the slot
edmunds or tj edward could fill in the MLB
spot

I would like the idea of drafting two offense tackles early in the draft , one LT and one RT because I think brown needs and can be upgraded so this would give also good competition for tc

I may be in the minority on this, but we are not far from being among the best teams in the afc.

1.) we need new oc, ol, qb and st coaches.
2.) we need two quality offensive tackles. One should come via the draft.
3.) we need a quality slot receiver and a quality outside receiver.
4.) we need 1 big corner to go with the smurfs.
5.) we need a big run stuffing nose tackle,

Fix the oc, the ol and get a two quality receivers and jones will look so much better,
I agree with everything but number 3. Patriots don't need another outside receiver. Slot - yes. But I think they can be good with what they have in thorton and parker...sure, they should draft one

@DaBruinz i can’t find your post regarding strange and a possible position move on the phone right now , I just want to add

I think with a possible new o line coach, new OC and therefore maybe new play designs or blocking schemes we can really use consistency for the offense line esp with two new possible OT , so I would like to keep the IOL the same

Also i cant remember any reports that the patriots tried out strange at any others position than LG

Of course odds are Belichick will be here next year. But things are clearly different, he’s got changes to make on the coaching staff, and he’s a stubborn guy in some ways.

I think he’ll make the changes. But is it 100% he’ll be back? No. Sometimes surprising things happen.

Coaching situation needs to be addressed first. We are assuming Bill is going to change the coaching staff which I don't think he will because the well is dry. If Bob tries to get involved asking him to get other coaches, he may walk like his former boss Bill Parcells has done. Parcells left NE and Dallas because the Owners either wanted to get involved (Jones) or didn't let him "pick his groceries" (Kraft). Rumor is Caley is unhappy and didn't sign an extension so he can join Josh in LV. Now Mayo is rumored to leave.
Spot on the money as usual.

You do not order around an 8 time Super Bowl winning coach. BB has earned the right to make decisions right or wrong.

Other than Mac Jones, the Patriots drafted exactly one player in the last 42 years at #15 overall: QB Tony Eason.
Interesting... So if we stay at 15 odds are we get another QB?

...then if the owner deems the HC making too many wrong decisions he either suggests he changes them or asks for his resignation

Wow--you've been backing Mac Jones for an entire year while being open to Belichick getting fired? I'm stunned. Seriously.

A hypothetical. You are an astronaut and you were in space on a mission to Mars the last 23 years and you just came back before the season and then watched the Patriots this season without the knowledge of Belichick over the last 23 years, you would ask he hasn’t been fired long, long ago because he is an idiot. This is Belichick’s worst coaching performance in his history and the second worst isn’t close.

People say every year that if it wasn’t for Belichick, the Pats would have lost 2-3 more games. This year, I would say the opposite. He created the disaster on offense from putting Patricia in charge to the ridiculous QB controversy earlier in the season that he fueled by refusing to say Jones was the starter where he helped to play into screwing with Jones’ confidence. This was a dumb, undisciplined team that openly questioned the coaching staff. Players were consistently unprepared. In game management was shoddy with a ton of wasted timeouts, poor red zone management, and poor clock management.

I defend Jones because he like a lot of players were set up for failure. He is a young QB who has shown flashes that he could be good QB. But we still don’t know what he is because of Belichick and Patricia.

Belichick is 70 years old who seems to making coaching personnel decisions that are best for him and not the team. This failed season was created by Belichick. He set this team up for failure before the season ever started and followed it by missteps by missteps.

As many people on the radio pointed out yesterday, after the loss to the Bills in the playoffs Belichick said he had to ask if that loss was an one of situation or something systematically wrong with the team. Based on his offseason, he felt it was a fluke that the Bills trashed the Pats last year and the Pats could beat them this year.

I question if Belichick just has the fire and passion anymore to do the job. He mailed this season in.

What about trading for a wr, perhaps Hopkins? I think he would look nice in a Pat uniform!!!
i like that idea given the cap space we have, that's why i added "as it currently stands" to imply that maybe some WR will get cut or available via trade block but i don't know about rumours right now. Wouldn't use our first rd pick but some WR are available for less if we take on the cap

If Arizona comes calling and says we'll trade you Hopkins for this year's number 2, I have to think we do that.

Rebuilding is a painful process, this year looked worse than it should have due to the dumb coaching decisions on offense. The Rams are proving that the cap is crap for a year or two and then you have nothing. Here's a couple of items for the list.

1. QB - Invest elsewhere, draft late round development guy to replace Hoyer, 3rd year is the make or break year for Mac, open competition with Zappe at training camp
2. Establish 3rd down running back. Maybe Strong is ready
3. Purge under achievers with bad attitudes - Brown and Wynn are the poster children here
4. Restock leadership in the locker room
5. Do something about special teams. Injuries were part of the problem this year.

...then if the owner deems the HC making too many wrong decisions he either suggests he changes them or asks for his resignation
Go ahead.

Do people here actually believe that Patricia is working on his own without any direction from BB? BB controls everything with this team.

Hopkins has been suspended for PEDS in the past.
And is getting up there in age.
No thank you.
I would rather pay Tee Higgins, or trade for Jerry Jeudy.
Denver is short on picks they may be willing to move him for a second or 2 mid round picks

I heard Denver wanted two 1st round picks for Jeudy

Need a reliable WR. The FA class is very bad so they will have to do the unthinkable and try to draft another one.
Looks like the Steelers have found another great one in George Pickens.

800 yards and 4 TDs in his rookie season with a 61% catch rate that will only improve.

Selected 2 picks AFTER Thornton who is catching 49% of his targets.

Also, Patriots were 11-5 the year Brady got hurt so he’s really. 36-30 without Brady.

Bill's record as HC of the NEP without you know who as starting QB.

2000: 5-11
2001: 0-2
2008: 10-5
2016: 3-1
2020: 7-9
2021: 10-8
2022: 8-9

43-45; 0.489
