I love Troy Brown as much as any Patsfan but we don't need 7 WR's especially when our OLB goes down for the season and we have to cut our fourth round pick to sign a replacement. I'm disappointed with this move for a number of reasons:

-Troy Brown is finished this year, maybe he's finsihed already, there's no upside past the next two months.

-Troy Brown, an aged, just about ready to retire player is kept over Kareem Brown who was our fourth round pick. K.Brown had long term upside, now we'll likely never know since he won't make it onto our PS, he'll be plucked off waivers out of spite if nothing else.

- If we need to play more 4-3 because Covin is gone then K.Brown might have had a chance to show his stuff on the D-line. If he's been cut because of an attitude problem (or to get Meriweather's attention) then our drafting has taken a hit.

- Is Chad Jackson a total bust? I've avoided the public cries to say so but when to feel your team needs a seventh WR to play instead of Jackson then I'm officially worried. Don't forget that Jackson plays ST just like Troy so you can't say this move is mostly for TB's ST play.

I don't like this move at all, it makes me wonder if there's something else going on we haven't yet heard about. For now I'll defer to BB's vastly superior judgement and say, Troy, I can't wait to see you catch a pass! Welcome back.

When Troy Brown makes that game saving play...remember exactly what you said here.

*Troy gives a person to split carries with wes welker.that man is taking some shots in the middle and even though he has got up every time i see troy/wes pair holding the slot down .

*Troy adds some DB depth and this means we can play harrison as the 4th LB in 3-4 against tightends.

*Colvin is a big loss with no one at 270lb[ad playing olb] in the center run through the tackle is going to be effected as harrison[220lb] to other LB[240 :B] are small for run support in our system.

we have seau and bru who have lateral movement but AD had tremendous downhill movement through gaurds which we are going to miss with him on the outside.

Troy has earned a spot on this team. Anyone who would rather have Karinactive Brown over Troy Brown doesn't understand the Patriots.

Chad Brown will be the fourth OLB. The rotation will likely be Vrabel, Thomas, Woods, Brown. Brown is a career 3-4 OLB, knows the Pats system, and practiced at OLB with the Pats this preseason.

Thomas will likely rotate inside and outside. I assume Bruschi and Seau will start, but we'll still see some of Thomas inside in relief of those two.

Hopefully Alexander can step up. He's finally healthy, so here is his shot. They will need him to spell Bruschi and Seau.

Glad to see Troy on the team, he is one of my all time favorite pats

oww, the colvin news really sucks....

well have to see wut BB has up his sleeve now

I think people who are upset about the idea of 7 WRs on the roster need to understand that, when active, Troy and Kelley Washington and Chad Jackson will be playing S/T cover teams, which is useful and productive, irrespective of their roles in the passing game.

Oh get off your high horse - you are the one that understands the Patriots, eh? Brother.

I didn't say Troy Brown wasn't capable of making a play for us. My point is that the time has to come for new players to step into voids left by old ones. Kareem Brown might have looked pretty good two years from now, but for today the bummer is that Chad Jackson still hasn't pushed a 14yr veteran off the map.

And either you can take BB at his word that he doesn't make any personnel decision based on anything but what's best for the team or wonder how adding a 7th WR to a squad of 6 that is already the best in the league makes this team better. if TB was activated to play DB, then that's a whole other story. But something is wrong with your first 6 WRs if you nfeel you need to add a 7th, plain and simple.

We have thrown away a 4th round draft choice in order for Troy to be inactive most games. Get used to it! We'll end up using our 3rd or 4th next year on a backup NT, yet again. Make no mistake, the cost of activating Troy Brown is real.

It is certainly possible that the pats gave our 4th rounder half a year to demonstrate promise, and then cut him when he didn't. But that doesn't make Troy Brown more valuable. Troy is our #7 WR and our #12 DB! This cannot be about special teams. We have Spann on the PS in case someone is hurt there. Why wasn't a WR cut? Why not a corner or a safety? Clearly because Brown's coming affects them not at all. Then why didn't we cut a special teamer? We cut someone with the position that Troy will hold down, being inactive or sitting at the end of the bench. This position is usually reserved for a developmental player who cannot yet contribute.

But Brown deserves a roster spot! Nonsense! That is not the way Belichick runs the team.

We need a backup ILB, a backup RB, or perhaps even a backup DL. Last I heard Troy Brown didn't play any of those positions.

I actually think Brown sees the field over Washington and Jackson. No way he's the #7.

This is going to be a spread offense from here on out. I'd be surprised if Maroney got more than 15 carries in a game.

Love this news.
I gotta get me a #80 jersey

Losing Colvin for the season is terrible news.

Signing Chad Brown is worse. In fact, it's an insult. This bum couldn't cut the mustard two years ago. There comes a point in time when system knowledge shouldn't be enough to overcome lack of youth, speed and explosion.

How lazy has this FO become, when its idea of competent backups is Chad Brown, Izzo, Alexander, Baker and Eddie Jackson? And Hammerin' Hank Poteat was deemed not worthy to play here, but Baker and Jackson are? That's an effin joke.

The time is beyond now to play Wilson and Meriweather ahead of Baker and Jackson; give Willie Andrews more snaps with the regular D, as well. And let's see if Woods and Alexander can actually play defense, not just ST.

Our dream team at LB has now become a nightmare. And with one more injury, Freddie Kruger will be paying us a visit.
