Reiss: Jack Jones and Jake Bailey moved to "Reserve/Suspended"

Jack did some dumb/illegal things when he was in college. Hopefully this is simply a misunderstanding of what he is supposed to be doing to recover and it will be figured out. He was on IR, right, and I thought had a chance to come back in the playoffs, but I am not sure.

It's not pennies. His 2023 salary was fully guaranteed. If the suspension isn't revoked, that guarantee is voided.
Doesn't the suspension only apply to this final week 18? Is there some contingency on him being on the roster to end the year in order for his 2023 salary to be guaranteed?

A weird season gets weirder. Can't wait to see this locker room without Slater and McCourty if things are already going sideways.
After the 'I can't get this team to do what I ask' years with A. Thomas and company BB recognized the need to change the locker room. With the loss of the old guard, this years draft needs to go back when the team restocked the leadership by drafting captains from the college teams. I remember Hightower fitting in that plan back in the day.

The HT draft really set the stage for the second trio of SB wins (I smile as I write - i mean, a SECOND trio). I really liked those teams 2014-2018. I would even say that the 2015 team was trending towards being the best of the lot if not for a slew of injuries. And - even at that - a Gronk catch in the endzone vs Denver changes everything.

Don't know if this is true.

Jack Jones will be gone if Belichick is told he agreed that the Pats were trying to lose putting him on IR. That's something the nfl would be more than gladly investigate to get Belichick for manipulating injury reports. Especially now that the team has officially suspended him. Could definitely see the the nfl and/or nflpa nosing heir way in on "Pats player said his injury was nothing, ends up on IR, implies that he disagrees with being IR, team suspends players so he can't collect"

Very helpful. I figured it must be something like players freelancing their rehab plans and going against team medical staff recommendations. Sounds like that’s exactly the case with JJ. Assume his agent‘s comment about amicable resolution is instead of needing a formal grievance.

He’s too talented to just be thrown away. Or put on IR if he’s not really injured, as you’re suggesting. That alone makes your troll ludicrous.

And the Pats are too thorough to be suspending him without cause. He either slacked off on rehab or freelanced without coordinating with the team. Report says he missed sessions, repeatedly, was fined and eventually suspended. NFLPA and league won’t touch that case with a ten foot pole. Pats have solid cause.

He probably let success go to his head and his ego thinks he can get away with ignoring team doctors. His agent needs to explain that he won’t get paid unless he plays ball at least figuratively and preferably literally.

He was skipping rehab per Mike Reiss

Reporters saw Jones last Friday emptying belongings from his locker into a large bag, which seemed to indicate he was leaving the team instead of continuing with his rehabilitation. A source said the suspension is related, in part, to Jones being fined by the team for missing rehabilitation appointments.

Now if this goes to grievance don't the Patriots have to save half that money till the dispute is resolved ?
40% IIRC.

Being suspended is now enough to void any remaining guarantees in a contract.

If true he may be out of the NFL.

I'm confused. Miguel says we'd save 55k out of Bailey's 4.5M salary on the cap?

Is there a trend with our medical team and/or rehab protocol making players angry (Gronk and Gillmore off the top of my head)?

Signing bonus proration in future seasons would accelerate to 2023, offsetting the immediate cap savings.
