I'll be surprised if the Patriots stay within 10 points of the Bills, they can't score.

We've been watching it all season they need a defensive touchdown to break 20, that's not going to cut it even a mediocore sloppy Bills offensive effort will get into the 20s.

Does this dour forecast make you feel self-assured? Resignation as a hedge against disappointment, perhaps? At least on these assumptions you won't waste time watching the game and can do something productive, like wash your underwear or shop for dental floss. (That's a long-shot guess as it doesn't appear dental floss is widely used in the U.K.)

Boy, this playoff scenario just got complicated with the NFL memo.
Bottom line, Cincy was going to win that game. And it seems that the Bills got a big boost in all of this, and the Pats are getting screwed.
Such is the new era of Pats football.

Believe me, that scenario crossed my mind too.
It feels like a very NYFL thing to do. Use a tragic situation as the reason to test some lucrative scheme you already wanted to do anyway, then keep that scheme indefinitely because once you cross that line it’s pretty easy to just stay there. Owners will say “I sure did like the TV money from those extra games and the extra two game’s worth of ticket fees, why wouldn’t we keep it?”

god damn neighbors dog is barking non stop .

can someone translate this:

does BUF have anything to play for? i imagine they need to win to keep their potential path to 1st seed open thereby taking it to neutral site. even if KC loses, BUF needs to win for that path... ? what am i missing?

or we getting a freebie because BUF considers neutral site same as away and letting players rest?

Well at least they're not proposing a ridiculous 8th seed. But they have found a way to piss off potentially one or more of the following teams: KAN, BUF, CIN & BAL.

I see they have a potential coin toss in there. Is that really the best they could come up with?

I don't know? Ultimately it's probably not good enough. Could leave an asterisk on the season. However though, the owners still have to agree with this, so that should be an interesting meeting of glutinous windbags opining for the most self-serving outcome.

Seems like the second Hamlin showed any sign of meaningful progress the league quickly shifted focus back on the business end of things. For sure Buffalo forced the league's hand on cancelling that game. Now all the league has to do is figure the best scenario for maximizing their profits.

If you like flags you’ll be happy with this guy’s crew. Patriots better be ready for how this game is going to be officiated especially for our defense.

This doesn’t preclude them from the 8th seed. Nothing stopping them from taking all of these measures and then also expanding the field as well. This wall of text does nothing to account for the fact that one team gets a bye and two other teams had a shot at that bye instead if the game was played. Only way to really fix that is to get rid of the bye. All of these measures in this memo simply handle who would get home field or if there is home field.

So tomorrow all plans will be finalized in this meeting?

Most logical solution is Bengals being rewarded the win against the Bills by forfeit. They were up 7-3 and it’s the least invasive way of addressing it without arbitrarily hurting multiples teams, some of which aren’t even involved. Assume Sunday can be played with the Pats @ Bills.

Won’t be surprised if Roger and his fluffers instead try to leverage this support and national empathy for the Bills and do all they can to put them in position for a storybook playoff ending.

How exactly are the pats getting screwed?

Just rig it so the Chiefs lose and everyone will be happy.

Just award Cincy the win and stop trying to royally screw the playoff picture. 7 seeds is odd enough.

Pats should have won more than 8 games then.
This is what gets
me….

The goddamn lateral…the non holding call on Dugger in Minnesota …the Rham fumble vs. the Bengals…Mac’s injury…a play or two away in Lambeau….Strong/Sooner running into the punter, a blocked punt, poor punting once Bailey was lost, Folk’s leg getting up there in years, dumb penalties by Trent Brown and others on the line…..lol

Then again..the Marcus Jones PR for TD, the solid clock consuming drive to put away the Steelers..Zappe playing lights out as a reserve….and us winning against these QBs: Trubisky, Goff, Brisset, Zach Wilson 2x, Colt McCoy, Ehlinger, and now Bridgewater/Thompson. Lost to: Tagovailoa, Lamar, Allen, Burrow, Rodgers, Cousins, Fields, and Carr.

The Pats have some good players, but they just ain’t good enough to win playing ugly.

Like Parcells said, “You are What your record is”

8-8

But hey, we got a puncher’s chance….LFG!!!

The 8th seed speculation is gone. Probably never was going to happen anyway. In a way, both BUF & CIN got a mini bye, which are the other two teams. This forces KC to play on the road against these 2 teams which takes away their HFA in the AFCCG if they make it. I think it's not a bad solution. Nothing was going to be perfect.

So if somehow the Chiefs win and the Patriots win on Sunday, the Patriots would have to play a second consecutive game in Buffalo (now a playoff game) against a team that they just upset one week ago at the Bills home, following onto the Hamlin tragedy.
So, in this scenario, for Pats to advance to the AFC semifinal game they would have to beat Buffalo twice in consecutive weeks in Buffalo with one of the worst offenses in the league against one of the best defenses in the league

It's just not going to happen. We all can root and hope...but....usually performance during 16 of 17 previous games is a good indicator for the 17th.

They played 15% of the game and neither team wanted to continue. Why would Bills take the L. That's like MLB awarding a L to a team after 1 inning and 2 outs.
