Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Tom Brady has a veteran day today, so he’s out here at practice but in a short-sleeved hoodie.

Ryan Jensen back at Bucs practice again today, continuing to work with offensive line. Bowles said he’s not in play to go this week but will continue to rest his knee in coming weeks.

I'm guessing that "rest" was a typo, and that "test" is the word he meant.

I have a bad feeling about this game. CAR is looking healthy on O and D, aside from JC Horn being possibly out. Bucs on the other hand.

But even at full strength, Bucs O hasn't been able to produce >17 points for the majority of the year. Can they stop CAR's top 10 running offense?

Come on Tom, if you win this one, I promise to stop masturbating for a week!

How much does it help the Bucs if Akiem Hicks and Vita Vea both play Sunday vs. Carolina? Tampa Bay is 5-1 when both play 10+ snaps, 2-7 when either one doesn't. They give up 88.9 rushing yards per game with both playing, 141.2 when one doesn't.

Nice of Greg to reinforce the point I've long been making about having the two big guys in order to stop the run.

Yeah if Vea plays I think the Bucs win
Not comfortably though I still can't trust that offense

The latest on the @Buccaneers@Panthers injury report this week and why things are trending up for Tampa on the oline.

It can't be said enough, IMO:

Second day of practice and you lose your pro bowl center while having to try bringing along a rookie left guard and very mediocre left tackle...

It’s hard for them to trend down to be fair. They were at the bottom.

Brady, Jacobs, Adams,Renfrow, Waller, and Gronk only leftwhich and Bowles can ruin that offense it’s gonna be fireworks again

Problem is they have an abysmal defense playing both Mahomes and Herbert twice a season.

Agreed. Hopefully Brady is smart enough to not go there despite his love for McDaniels who has proven to be an awful head coach (especially coming off a first hand experience of how terrible coaching can wreck a team). The 49ers, Dolphins and Saints should be his top 3 preferences.

Saints hinges on Payton of course.
Miami hinges on moving on from Tua (they could probably get a good player or solid draft pick(s) in a trade for him).
49ers would hinge on Purdy unraveling in the post-season against tough competition (ex. almost loses them their first playoff game and then costs them the second). I know they have Lance too, but once again, he's coming off a season ending injury and looked shaky in his few games. Garoppolo is just an expensive, decent but not great QB.

Bucs Cowboys in the first round in Tampa? Gimme the Bucs.

I wouldn’t mind the Pats take a shot at Richardson if they can get him. If all goes well he might be our Josh Allen. Anc it would force Mac to be a lot better than this.

Sometimes the best defense is offense. Raiders along with Saints/Payton are the best option for Brady. Let's face it. If Brady plays, it will be his last year. He can still throw it but if his mobility was 4 out 10 before, it is now 2 out of 10. He needs a strong supporting cast and good coaches to play elite which the Raiders and Payton could provide.

I don't include the 49rs cause I think there's zero chance he goes there. Don't include the Pats because I'm sure BB/Kraft would not go all in for Brady. Tennessee might be another option.

As for playing the AFC West, Brady should be able to easily win half the games with a strong offense alone.

I can see a path to the NFCCG if it’s Dallas at home and then at the Vikings. Two all time playoff choking teams there. But the seeding would have to be incredibly specific to have that happen.

Brady back to Bucs? I'm not too keen on it. The team seems dysfunctional with key penalties, drops, and.mistakes at the worst time. Lots of TDs were called back or missed. Bowles is the kind of coach that drags an offense down.

The Bucs are a team I can see as being bad next year. Plus, their play calling is very vanilla, predictable, and boring. The Bucs want to run more but the running on 1st down with little yardage is actually doing the opposite by forcing the Bucs to pass more on 2nd and 3rd downs over and over. It's ridiculous cause they are making it so hard on Brady.

And no Brady can't just go against his OC and coach like some people out there says, otherwise you'll have a feuding locker room.

Nice of Greg to reinforce the point I've long been making about having the two big guys in order to stop the run.

The Bucs aren't the worst in the league at stopping the run but they're a few notches behind the Panthers. Combine that with the woeful offense of the Bucs and I'm tempted to bet on Carolina.

Then I remember that Brady QBs the Bucs. I doubted him in the past at times (crazy huh?) only to have him prove me wrong and I, like The Who, won't get fooled again.

That takes me back to the Pats in 2019.

Giants would need to beat SF in the WC for that to happen.
