Tua in concussion protocol

Somewhat concerning how many concussions this guy is taking. Obviously we've seen the long term effects can be scary. And while I'm never happy to see someone injured, this is an opportunity for the pats. No excuse not to win this game if he's out.

Yep. Dolphins are staring at 6 straight losses to close out their season. What a collapse lol
If the Dolphins do lose the next two games (vs Pats, vs Jets), it's extremely likely the Patriots make the playoffs even if they lose to Buffalo the following week. It'd leave New England, Miami and NYJ all at 8-9, but New England would have the tiebreaker over both of them for the 7 seed.

However, the Steelers could also win two in a row (vs Ravens, vs Browns) and pass them to go 9-8. But if Pittsburgh loses one of those two games and ends 8-9, New England also has the tiebreaker over them too.

Hoyer is still out from his concussion that happened in October.
I think he is still out from suckage that happened continuously

Yikes so that's 3 this year for him

That's not a good situation. He might want to think about hanging them up.

Damn I feel bad for him. I hate Miami but he's a class act. I feel the same about Josh Allen, hard not to like him as a person. I hope Tua is ok as more to life then football

I think it would be smart to end his season. I think it would be less smart, but still smart, to sit him for the next two games and hope they can get into the playoffs without him. I think it would be even less smart, and borderline stupid, to sit him for just this one week and bring him back next week. I think the least intelligent move would be to play him this week.
I agree with all of the above

At this point it is really concerning for long term health. Did he get concussions in previous years or just started this year?

Do concussions become easier to occur if you already got them before? This could get ugly.

It's pretty near to impossible to protect one's self against head slams that occur as part of a whiplash effect.
He's the only one who this regularly happens to, though. I genuinely think his coordination or instincts are slow when it comes to being suddenly moved.

QBs like Eli used avoid injuries by preparing for his fall or sack by getting his arms and core ready.
It's almost like he's expecting to be gently placed on the ground and is surprised when someone tackles him with force. He almost seems to go limp.
Exactly, that's what it looks like. Like he doesn't expect it to hurt.

No, he's not. We're just sensitive to it with Tua because he's gotten concussed when it happened.

Just telling it like I see it not how I think it would be smart to handle it.

The part that confuses me further here is that he sees the rusher, backs up to evade him briefly just long enough to flip the ball to a receiver... but... he KNOWS the rusher is there and is about to hit him... I'm unclear why he seems to make no attempt at all to brace himself or anything as if he was taken by total surprise blindside when he got tackled.

I had no issue with your post. I was just tossing in my $.02 on top of yours. Sorry for any confusion.

Also the Jets must lose to the seahawks. Probably will but not a given as the hawks are struggling . And I think the Titans would need to lose to the Jaguars, one simulation I ran had the Jags over us at 8-9 if they do not win the division. But we are getting in over the Titans at 8-9 or worse when they aren't the division winner. This one I'd say is likely. And Raiders gotta lose one more (Niners or chiefs) which is very likely. So it's a bunch of things that are likely to happen, but that's also a bunch of things and in the NFL you never know.

Sounds like a 4 or 5 team parlay. I never hit those.

I'd say this improves Brady's chances of going to Miami next year.
You’d say Brady wants to play behind an O line that makes a habit of putting their QB in concussion protocol?

yes. after one concussion an individual is more susceptible to subsequent concussions. This is from NIH:
Also, it is now known that, after a concussion, there is greater susceptibility to sustaining another concussion and that subsequent concussions occur with less force and take longer to resolve.
Concussions and their consequences: current diagnosis, management and prevention

When you have this many concussions in a short period of time, you may never be the same. He is likely going to have concussions repeatedly throughout his career now.

Let's just hope he doesn't end up like Kevin Turner. He got ALS which was suspected to be caused by all the concussions he had in his career.

Yes and he had had three concussions in a few month period. The closeness of the concussions is a major issue too.

all a defender has to do is take his middle finger and flick it at the back of Tua's helmet...off to the tent he goes. Bridgewater can beat the bejeezus out of our secondary with their WR's and TE. Gesicki is playing, right?
