He is part of his staff, however put in a big position of player personnel by ownership. Even though GMs can choose thier staff ownership still has say on who, what, when, where and why!
Grohs been around for over a decade and slowly grown through the ranks. His father worked with and for Bill for many years. He is as much a BB guy as anyone.

Let's put it this way if people didn't like Grohs performance what would people say? They'd complain about nepotism.

Correct, yes his father was there. That's the NFL as a whole nepotism mainly at the ownership level. Wich obviously we know.

I believe groh was asked to be more involved with the drafting and player scouting by Jonathan, people don't realize Jonathan is all business, he's dollars and sense. He's not as sentimental as RKK. However as far as the team just a frustratingly confusion filled season. I honestly don't know what the team is trying to accomplish.

And whose fault for the bad roster is it?
Struggling to understand what was trying to be accomplished this season. We are in a spot that no team really wants to be in for draft pick status at 6-6.

Likely not to make the post season, after making it last season. Feels like 2020 , I'm trying to find optimism. Makes me truly appreciate the success we had.

During these times the wonder would be would we host or be on the road for the AFC championship.

This season is just a failure, regression nothing was really accomplished. We are further away now to being contender than we were last season.

The only way going forward is to somehow get out these bad contracts, and obtain premiere players.

Had everything been kept in tact offensively I think we'd be in a much better position.

Yeah, the idea that Groh is somehow a Kraft person is absurd in the extreme. Belichick has been tight with that family for 4 decades.

Yet another in the long stream of nepotistic hires you see all over the NFL

We've never played for draft position. NEVER!

It's not ownership level. It's coaching.

Groh had no relationship with the Krafts prior to his relationship with Belichick.

To clarify, meaning the current roster is ok. Need to add some peices of course to make this roster play off caliber. No NFL team is great at every single position.

However if we can add some elite players at the skill positions would help!

O line is the most glaring need!

OL (At Least Two OTs PLUS a Center of the Future) is indeed the most glaring need, but not the only need on offense:

- a Legit 3rd-down RB;
- a dependable 1B/#2 RB;
- and a 1A/1B WR, but if Meyers leaves then a Slot WR too.

All together, that's a half-dozen new faces right there.

Curran, Phil perry reported groh was put in position by ownership as a collective collaboration on the draft! That's what was being reported. How else would be know!

Yes, correct. But due to the poor drafting ownership sought out to ask bb to have groh and caserio when here to have more of a collective effort on the drafting.. since that has been done drafting seemed to become much better. Krafts are hands on owners just because they have a GM doesn't mean that they don't override certain aspects, especially paying 20 million.. a season

Folk won't be around much longer either. Not to belittle kickers or punters but they'll figure that out. On the list of needs it's not something I stress. 4 or 5 on each side of the ball is not accurate on defense at all. They are really good despite whatever you might be worried about...

We need a big-ass run-stopping DT; a DE more explosive than Wise and stouter than Uche; one or preferably Two Midfielders with both chase-down & coverage abilities; At Least Two Outside CBs; and oh yeah a Brand New Free Safety.

That's a half-dozen new faces right there, same as the offense.

Groh’s father was Parcells’ DC with the Patriots. The Krafts would have employed him for years before Belichick arrived in 1996.

And to our detriment.

If Little Billy didn't have this sick obsession with the Jete (and with his own personal glory ahead of the long-term best interests of his own dam team), Justin Fields would be our QB today.

Well all that's not happening and most of what you mention is not a need. I'd take a few upgrades in a few of those spots but for the most part all the positions you mentioned will be filled by guys on the roster already.

Al Groh coached linebackers with the Giants in the 1980s UNDER Belichick.

When Belichick arrived in New England, Groh lost control of the DC position.

Exactly my point!
We've gotten good results by NOT doing it.

Go back and look at the people we drafted in the slots we'll likely be picking at:

The Dominique Easley, Sony Michel, NKeal Harry type busts have been at the bottom of the 1st round. Between 10-25 we've taken:

Chandler Jones
Donte Hightower
Jerod Mayo
Brandon Merriweather
Lawrence Maroney
Vince Wilfork
Nate Solder
Ty Warren
Daniel Graham

Of these guys, I would label only 2 busts: Merriweather and Maroney.

That's a decent track record in the middle range of the draft, where we'll be drafting (25 if we go 10-7, 20 if we go 9-8, 15 if we go 8-9, 10 if we go 7-10).

I disagree on the RB. If we resign Harris all we need is a back up 3rd down back. Harris and Rham back each other up and Rham is great in the passing game.

Agree OL is top priority. IMO on top priority on the whole team.

I'd take an extra WR or TE too. But I'm not worried about this until we fix the OL and find our Q wether that be Mac or something else.

You've really have gone off the deep end. Criticizing BB and the team is fair but you've taken it 10 steps too far.

Well,

We lost barmore for the season. He was commanding double teams. That knee issue he had since college will hamper his career. The defense just needs some peices. At least a proven lock down corner.. Jack Jones will be a great player he's still learning while playing solid.

Not trading for roqan smith was foolish. I don't mind McMillan and Wilson as rotation guys.. however we need at least 2 fast sideline to sideline LBs

Some depth on the D line, need fresh bodies to rotate in and out. Wise is solid, and he does make plays. The Groh drafts have been good lately hope we can address those issues.
