Dont think brees was out of all lf them .He had some awful defenses mixed in with some of those teams, (like us 2012 & 2018 )that cost the Saints some super bowl appearances, they absolutely got hosed in the 2019 AFC championship game..
However I don't feel people are impatient it's more we saw the team take a positive step last season, this season made everyone feel there is a regression, no direction the offense isn't even basic NFL caliber. It's gotten so bad opposing teams coordinators are laughing at us..
More so the krafts told media they spent heavily, and felt they were rebuilt to get back into contention. They don't view it as a rebuild. So that is why this season is such a disappointment on a lot of levels.
Yeah no one cared about the stats in 2007 or about Gronks numbers. No one bragged about our 100 reception recievers. No one ever talked about White turning into one of the greatest receiving backs. Lame argument we always kept track just had other things to talk about too.I just think its funny that everybody in the fanbase starts caring about individual talent, when they were a poor team...We used to make fun of Peyton and Marvin Harrison, etc and say enjoy your points and stats while we win games...Now the meaningless stats equate to loaded rosters...Guess what, Denver is loaded, how are they doing? The Patriots in 2021 were a top 2 defense and top 6 offense...How much better do you want? So many teams have talent, that we forgot about the intangibles it takes to win
Turns out that may not be as true as we thought. Didn't work that way with Tom. Let's not make that mistake again.Better a year early than a year late...
That was not the issue.Turns out that may not be as true as we thought. Didn't work that way with Tom. Let's not make that mistake again.
Certainly not with the staff he’s put together here.
Bill himself is the best coach in the league, but he’s been allowed to cut down the staff to having people he likes around him in key positions based on relationships but not abilities. This is where Bill has massively screwed up. His own nepotism, not his ability as a coach.
And yet oddly, every team doesn't spend to the cap yearly. And on average, they under over $5M under.Teams are obligated to spend to the cap yearly,
Of course it was. It was really the only issue that mattered. It all leads back to age. That was not the issue.
You guys make it sound like it's so easy for a HC to switch teams and just make everything click. Let's be realistic about this:Bill is not retiring before he passes Shula's record. I'm certain of that. So he'll either pass it from the Patriots sideline or another one.
...Belichick isn't going anywhere else. That's nonsense. He'll retire a New England Patriot.
Does BB breaking Shula's record really make any difference to fans of the team? I believe most fans would rather accelerate building a seriously competitive team and building the offense into at least a semi capable unit than drag through the swamp with BB as he plods towards Shula's record. If true, then the Krafts have already flushed next season down the toilet; and more likely than not '24 too, whereupon our new GM will be looking for a new QB for the '25 season...

I agree. I will take pride in the record whether he breaks it here or somewhere else. It’s a great achievement, but it can’t come at the cost of the Patriots setting themselves up for the next decade or more.Does BB breaking Shula's record really make any difference to fans of the team? Excellent post. Well thought out points. But I'm not at all in the crowd believing Belichick can jump to another team and make it click. It's not currently clicking in a spot he's been for 23 years. Belichick may go somewhere else and fail miserably or if he lands in an ideal situation then he may go out a winner. But Belichick's mere presence alone isn't going to guarantee anything either way.You guys make it sound like it's so easy for a HC to switch teams and just make everything click. Let's be realistic about this:
1. Belichick will be 71 in '23. History is not on his side when it comes to HC performance in their 70s (only 5).
2. There's a reason Bill kept a slower Hightower, McCourty & Slater around a "year too late." He needed those old vets to help him get the young players to "buy in" to the Patriot Way. Pretty much every ex-player has said things are different in NE than everywhere else.
3. Bill is having a tough enough time making things work in his created 20+ year old system. Players are questioning the teams direction. Are we to believe that he's going to go to a new franchise, install Belichick's Way and get all new players to "buy in?"
4. The league trend is to install Offensive minded HCs. As we can see Bill is not that guy (at least not w/o TFB).
5. Then there's the GM role. Is Belichick going to work under another team's GM after 20 years? Is there a team out there that's going to hand the keys to the kingdom to a sub .500 coach in his 70s?
There's already talk of the Krafts pondering a change. True or not, it speaks volumes to how his role is viewed, given all the success he brought to THIS franchise.

Reid wasn't north of 70 when he took the KC job.Andy Reid got pushed out of Philly and immediately made it work in KC with a separate GM. Let’s not pretend the Bill would have trouble finding a job and there’s a good chance he could make it work.
He was 55.Reid wasn't north of 70 when he took the KC job.
If you absolutely needed chicken nuggets to live, and you had chicken nuggets that were consistently the best in the world but someone else may have surpassed them at this point.... would you still pay the preemium for them if it didn't effect what you could afford in your kitchen if the options were those chicken nuggets or some random brand chicken nuggets that are more likely to give you food poisoning than be just good enough to be edible?Again, this isnt answering why he deserves the money or not...Its somebodys money, it didnt just poof from thin air...Would you pay 100$ for chicken nuggets? theres no salary cap, why not?
