Pre-Game Thread- Bills @ Pats (Thursday Night)

I just want to see the Patriots offense run a play action fake on 1st down, 1st down runs have become way too predictable.

Re-watch the last game against the Vikings.

Yep, the dude Always slides short of the line to gain if he feels even the slightest threat, both real & especially imagined, around him... And his pocket presence to escape pressure is practically Non-Existent.
Could have something to do with all the injuries to his legs.

You Zappe guys and this Corky thing is annoying. Mac's the guy, either get on board or go root for Tampa bay. The Pats can and will win this game. Hopefully that quiets you guys down.

The "Zappe Zealots." I like Zappe myself and bet he would consider this ignorant anti-Mac fan crusade on his behalf an embarrassing load of crap. Which it is.

I mean, flatly proclaiming Mac "the guy" and telling others to get onboard or jump, ain't it either.

I have no issue with fans preferring one guy to the other (based on their opinion of their play, or how much they like them). Both should receive our support. Anyone claiming one or the other is unconditionally "the guy" (in anything more than their mind) doesn't make much sense to me.

They're clearly both in a developmental evaluation process. We might have a better idea of who "the guy" is in a season or two ... maybe. And who "the guy" is could change based on the quality of their play.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's game.

Good post. Your best on this topic to date.

I like Zappe too but apparently BB likes Mac so we're gonna roll with Mac. I think the Pats have a good chance in this game.

I don't think BB starting Mac says anything about who he "likes". It's largely down to the fact that Mac is further along his relative developmental timelime, they need to learn what they have in him, and he earned the right to start based on his leadership, work ethic, and time he's invested over the past 14-16+ months.

If Zappe ends up starting next season, does that mean BB flipped from Team Mac to Team Zappe? Does it mean he no longer likes Mac? Caught the Zappe fever? No - it means he thinks starting Zappe is what is best at that point in time, and all of the considerations that go into that. Ditto for Mac starting now.

BB isn't picking the starter based on which faction he sides with in an online messageboard feud; he's coaching a football team.

I think the comment is more for the fans who go out of their way to disparage Mac in favor of zappe and have already picked sides. I have no idea who is going to be "the guy" maybe it's Mac maybe it's zappe, maybe it's neither!

But there are posters who jump in every thread and actively cheer/hope for any mistake by Mac or any loss. that I don't understand. Not sure if it's trolling or not. If he ultimately gets chosen over zappe are they going to stop rooting for the team?

Mac is the guy "right now" and any fan should hope he progresses as he did the last few weeks and can improve on the good game he put up against the Vikings.

A discussion once in a while is fine.

BUT, I think he's saying the Patriots chose Mac Jones. That makes him the guy.

Criticize him all you want. But to constantly say he needs to be replaced by Zappe week after week?

It gets old beating that damn poor horse.

Mac is the Guy right now because he was a 1st round pick and the Pats have devoted 2 full seasons so he can win. The Pats planned to have Mac as the starter. Mac has worked with the 1st team from the beginning.

I want this team to win now and I want BB to win a Super Bowl without Brady. The best NE QB available needs to make that happen. No excuses.

Mac is the starter right now not because he was a 1st round pick but because BB believes that he gives the team the best chance to win. That's always been BB's MO when it comes to players. If he felt differently, Mac would have been benched permanently for Zappe after the Chicago game.

We saw this same story with Cooper Rush over Dak and Mike White over Zach Wilson with fans wanting the shiny new toy. It hasn't gone too well for either of those guys and it didn't go well at all for Zappe in the Bears game.

For me the Mac Jones of the last two weeks is the guy that I was expecting/hoping to see in September. Better late than never. Still needs to improve in a lot of areas but for the first time this season he's showing progression from last year, getting the ball downfield and limiting his mistakes. Hopefully it's not a fluke.

Mike White is going to save the Jets season. Cooper Rush is 4-1 and the one loss came to the 10-1 Eagles.
