Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Jets

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

O lines been in dissary all season, they also have been adversely affected by the coaching or lack there of.. if the kine can't protect IDC who is at QB you won't be able to much on offense.. as we put offense is living proof of it! BB knows this of course, but he's not going to turn on his coaching staff.. funny thing is.. he has no issues benching a player not performing well, so why not the same for a coach!

It's for this reason why a more mobile QB like Zappy should've been playing since the very first snap of the Bears game.

The line play has been so bad, that even zap had issues, green bay, the bears game.. your right wich he should have started.. Mac isn't the problem itself the line just hasn't help up collectively

It was a clear block in the back as the Jets player went forward and this crap gets called a lot even though it had no bearing on the play. The point is Mack Wilson did not need to give the refs a reason to throw a flag and he would’ve taken a lot of heat had they thrown it.
It was also a clear running out of bounds for Hardee so
Here's a frame from the opposite angle. Looks to me like Wilson's left arm is in front of the Jet's player when contact is first made:

We're still talking about this? After ll the calls that went the Jets way? Not to mention the fact that Hardee ran out of bounds and didn't immediately come back in

This board would be losing their minds if the teams were reversed and the Jets had a block like that.
I was losing my mind over 2 holding calls that resulted in 2 missed FGs, a bad spot that resulted in a FG instead of a TD, a do over on a punt from a punter flopping, and a bogus holding call that kept the last Jets drive alive, so yes that's probable I'd be losing my mind. And if the tables were reversed Jets fans would be right to laugh at my anger, and they'd probably mention the fact that Hardee ran out of bounds and didn't come back in.

Cleaning out the patriots notebook, like only Mike Reiss can: Great points about Guy and Godchaux and how good they have been this year!!! God has been criticized a lot on this board, but his play this year has been a major reason why our run defense is much improved:

I particularly agree with #7...

Regarding #16, that might explain the lack of replays for almost NONE of those close calls... But replays were shown in other situations, so...??

I agree. Always liked the wishbone and this look was a creative use of that formation.

I actually did see a replay for the one bolded above... It was so obvious that NO contact was made; I don't believe it was even the umpire who threw the hankie, because the replay shown was from his very own vantage-point, and as far as I could tell he wasn't reaching for his by the end of it...

Yep; both run AND pass are still viable options from this formation... I had ass-umed that when the TC roster became bereft of FBs, it meant we would see JonNo & Double-H (& Assy-assy/Never Seene) in the backfield more often, both together & separately... Kinda surprised (though I really shouldn't be) that it took this long to use it...

I think Wilson may need to be benched to get an attitude adjument. The guy seems like an entitled douche who probably thinks everything should be given to him and he doesn’t have to work for anything. Benching him could knock some sense into him.
Apparently there were reasons he wasn't elected a captain as a returning senior.

That’s the thing - he’s another QB who actually DOES have a lot of clear physical gifts but is ruined immediately by being drafted by the JETE
Nah, he ruined himself. He was this way coming out of school.

Mac needs to process what he’s seeing faster and get rid of the football.
He’s holding it a extra 2 ticks this year that compounded with the less than stellar like play magnifies the issue.

A Tom Brady a Drew Brees a Jimmy Grap are all Statuesque QBs but have fast reaction and release making the o lines job easier.
Us Zappeites saw Bailey play this way and that’s why people starting saying maybe Patricia can be a OC.
Insert Mac who while has a lot of charming qualities when he’s holding on the football is welcoming sacks, strips and wasted plays.

Trollin crying about this play. Figures.

Why is this even a debate? It would be as ticky-tack a foul as it gets and it didn’t help Jones get to the end zone. I doubt there’s even one official who would throw a flag on this.

Trollin should stick to reporting on fake DMs he’s good at that.

Later in this thread, someone posts this shot which shows exactly how much of an idiot Volin is. Or he's hoping to move to NYC>

If we’re being honest with ourselves, both of these should have been flagged. They weren’t, though, and I’m finding it hard to care because it’s the Jets.
Un, no. Because BOTH of these shots are AFTER the contact was initiated.

If no one is looking back at the football, you can't release the football faster. What good is it to hit the wide open man if you hit him in the back of the helmet?

Mac Jones had a very quick release last year. Last year, his average time to throw was 2.4 seconds. Brady and Garoppolo were 2.3 seconds. Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, and Justin Herbert all had a 2.4 second average time to throw last year.

And this year, Mac Jones average time to throw is either 2.3 or 2.4 seconds (depending which service you look at). Bailey Zappe's is 2.5 seconds.

Yes, but he has no time, it's a constant revolving door with linemen.. I've never seen this in the championship era of the team. It's mind boggling.. we don't even have average NFL lime play right now.. Mac just absolutely has no time.. again this goes back to the coaching.. I pray scar can come out of retirement at least for one season and you'd see the 2021 version of Mac.

I saw an earlier post where the player that was hit had actually run out of bounds before the hit

I don't think that matters. It's only a penalty if a player goes out of bounds voluntarily before the change in possession.

>>During a punt that crosses the line of scrimmage, and prior to a change of possession, it is a foul if a kicking team player goes out of bounds voluntarily (without being contacted) prior to the end of the kick.

Un, no. Because BOTH of these shots are AFTER the contact was initiated.

Blandino says the initial contact came from the side but then you can clearly see contact in the back and there should have been a penalty called there.

You don’t have to take his word for it, though. From the rule book…

Do it @rochrist! Give Kontra a a drive by "dislike" or an "ugh". And while you're at it, do the same for me.

You disappeared after complaining so much during the GDT against the Jets, What happened? Thought you might a little happy that we won, but you went silent on me!!!

We won aren't you happy????????????????

Yeah, under Josh there was alot of timing routes wich made Mac quickly accend as a rookie.. boy I just wish we could somehow become a average NFL offense.. at this point I'll take a touchdown
