2022 OL

We might very well be, but I still think they're gonna try Brown-Strange-Andrews (I hope & pray)-Onwenu-Cachoo in two weeks... Lord help us & Mac if Thanksdad has to face Quinine Williams again...
Yes, I also hope that they will settle on an OL and stay with it.

I like yours: Brown-Strange-Andrews-Onwenu-Cajuste, with Wynn and Ferentz as the backups. Wynn is also the 6th OL in the jumbo set.
=================================================
We could get contributions from others, but I don't expect it, absent injuries.
OTHERS: Russey, Murray, Cannon, Hines, Steuber, acquisition from someone else's Practice Squad.

Hi all - this is the Pats' opening play of the game vs Colts where I immediately thought, "Uh oh." I know very little about OL play, but I'm wondering who's at fault here? Is it Strange or do you think the OL playcall? There's no way that ThxDad is going to be able to make that block from where he started.

Also, I don't know what Strange or Jakobi were doing past the line of scrimmage, but they were aiming for air or the wrong people, it seems. Even if Rham gets past the initial guy, that would've been no gain, regardless. Woof.

Yeah Strange69 should've stayed with his first block at least long enough for the RB to clear the LOS... And he STILL ****ed-up that 2nd-level block anyway! Don't know if it was his or Phatt Matt's idea for him to fly the coop early, but it was Clearly the Wrong one... I also agree regarding Thanksdad & Meyers (or whoever is standing on the 1st & 10 graphic).

That run should've gone for Much more than it did, but a combination of either poor blocking design by the OL coach or poor decision-making by the LG, plus a weak-ass Center, doomed this play... Can't be doing this sh!t vs good teams and expect to win.

Strange chips the defender slightly, but Ferentz still cant recover. It looks like the 3 OLmen on the top of the play expect the run to go right, but Rham is going left. All of the lineman are engaging like it is a run off the right side. Who knows what Myers is doing - look likes he forgets the play and then quickly remembers. Complete $uckup.

I'm not sure if the play is designed to go right... Neither Cachoo nor Onwenu engaged their LOS blocks; instead they went straight to the 2nd level, as if they already knew that Rham was going left and that their opposite #s wouldn't have been able to catch-up with him...

Ferentz was trying to play catch-up, and wasn't quick enough to do so... gotta wonder if that happened again in the game, or if they made an adjustment to keep strange in and block the gap... maybe pull the right guard to seal off the corner... the backs were deep enough on that particular play to do so... instead of pulling, they all just stepped forward

Strange69 looking like a rookie from Chattanooga out there the last two games. Going against big boys might be too much to ask of him this year.

Brown-Wynn-Andrews-Onwenu-Cachoo

The great Matt Chatham weighing in on the O-line...I like his idea, but also like: Wynn/Strange/Andrews/Onwenu/T. Brown

Lose/Lose is NOT a Right-side lineman... He's a natural NFL Left Guard.

If Billy & the New Minions had drafted Quinn Meinerz & Tre Smith last year instead of Perkins & Sherman, our starting OL Sunday would've been:
Brown - Lose/Lose - Meinerz - Onwenu - Tre Smith... I like my chances there...

Wynn looks good at LG. I do know he’s been disgruntled playing RT. That whiff on Rashad Gary of the Packers almost got Hoyer put in the morgue.

But some here thought he was only a tackle.

That’s been proven wrong.

Q. Williams must be licking his chomps at the prospect of going against a guy he can put on roller skates. Ferentz can’t cope with him one on one.

Q. Williams is going to get doubled every single passing play Vince Wilfork style.

I don't agree with Chatham's suggestion of having Wynn at RG. Onwenu is a beast at RG. Let's see what Cajuste can do at RT. I believe the only consideration over the bye week is Wynn vs Strange at LG.

His absence is hurting. His sidekick is with the Raiders.

Bring back Cole!

I trust him. Billy Yates could be his assistant.

What was Belichick thinking going into this season at the offensive line? Matt Patricia is the coach for both offensive coordinator and offensive line? Has anyone ever seen that before?

Oline and run game coordinator, yes. But this is an experiment.

We need a legit Dante-type offensive line coach. Maybe that’ll be Billy Yates. Many here have their doubts about the stretched-thin M Patricia.

Almost an oxymoron.

The gd hysteria over that virus—We need you, Cole Popovich—coupled with missed opportunities in the draft have led us to a parlous state at the tackle position.

Imagine where we’d be if we had taken Dalton Risner instead of N’Keal Harry? He was an immediate starter for the Broncos who can play all five positions on the line.

Or, pace Captain Stone, we’d taken late round SEC gems like Trey Smith or Jamaree Salyer?

Has Andrew Steuber even made it to the facilities? I still can’t believe we took a tackle who could muster only 17 bench presses. The color guy on the tv the other game did 31. Adam Archuleta was a db/linebacker hybrid.

The best in the business now that Dante is in retirement? Look at link above.

Jeff Stoutland is the best in the business.

There’s a reason why smart coaches go out if their way to hire experienced, top shelf O line coaching talent. Stoutland is successful wherever he goes, whether it be the Eagles or the Crimson Tide.

In the early 21st century he performed miracles with marginal talent at Michigan State.

Instead Coach Belichick has thrown a dart thinking “This might work.”

“Anyhoo, my buddy needs work. Matt is almost like another son to me.”

Steuber was All Big 10 and an All American.
Coach Don Brown on Andrew Stueber
"Several offensive line coaches that I have great respect for said he is the best offensive lineman in the east. His athletic ability is the key ingredient that sets him apart from other offensive tackles."

I agree 17 or 18 bench presses is light, but Steuber is 6'7" which makes the bench press a lot harder. You have to guess he needed to bulk up so he was given a red shirt year. Hopefully he is stronger and his athleticism shines bright in 2023.

With the success that we've had at drafting O-lineman late in the draft and picking up UFA, (Onwenu and Andrews come to mind recent, and I know their very high on Hines as well), I'm not going to question their picks at that position. Let's give Steuber a chance to get on the field next year and see what he can do first. I also like the potential of Russey as well.

We know that OT will be a major priority come next year's draft/free agency. Let's s how it plays out first.

James Ferentz gets beat on that play, it’s easy to see. They and especially Strange miss Andrews inside because he lines them up and tells them who to block. Ferentz wouldn’t be an NFL player if his dad wasn’t best buddies with Bill.

Andrews will be back after the bye, hopefully Cajuste solidifies that RT spot. They’ll be fine if Mac starts getting rid of the ball and using his check down receivers.

Coach cap was right about "Thanks Dad" Ferentz.
