Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

NFL going to miss Brady once he's gone.

NFL going to miss Brady once he's gone.

International soccer stars too.
This is one of the many who raved about meeting TB12 Sunday.

Otton already looks like an upgrade over Brate. I'd like to see both on the field in some red zone plays. But yes, Otton is a good 4th round draft pick. Unlike Bill's two 3rd rounders Asiasi and Keene. Heck, Otton is having a better season than Henry or Jonnu

It became apparent pretty quickly that Asia's and Keene were trash draft picks. BB was having a bad several years of bad drafting runs,..

Julio Jones miraculously made it through a game. He has looked explosive in his limited opportunities.

Question: all things being equal, is a healthy 2022 Julio Jones just as good as a healthy 2020/21 Antonio Brown?

I think that, for me, the issue would be fit. Brown fit the need more than Jones fits the need. Brady's at his best with a strong TE and a great "quicks" WR. Furthermore, Jones is more duplicative of Evans than Brown was of Godwin, IMO. So, while I'd probably have gone with Brown anyway, I think fit would have pushed my call in that direction even if I thought Jones might be a little bit better as the WR.

I thought I heard something about Rome not being built in a day from Davis. That sounds like Josh may get more time than we think.

Given the **** show that was the Raiders last year, it makes no sense to be firing McDaniels for not immediately fixing every freakin' problem. Anyone who just looks at the first round picks in recent years can see that there's a huge amount of work to be done.

I looked at some of the rankings this week and some teams are all over the map. Detroit has rankings of 21st and 29th, Miami 4th or 5th on most but 13th on one, the Rams 20th and 29th and the Giants 4th and 12th. Huh?

Usually power rankings combine (a) where the team is positioned and (b) the team's actual strength. That's why I think you see such a big split on the Giants...not sure why the Dolphins would be split that far though. If anything, they may be better than their record as they had a few games without their fake star QB.

There are other factors, but yes, Bucs are now 4-0 when defensive lineman Akiem Hicks
@The_Dream99
plays and 1-5 when he doesn't. They give up 69.5 rushing yards per game with him, 148.3 yards per game without him. Bucs give up 10.5 points per game with him, 23.0 without him.

Bucs offense isn't really clicking yet in terms of scoring, but they're eliminating negative plays better than any team in the league. Tampa Bay now has the lowest interception percentage (0.70 percent) and lowest sack percentage (3.27 percent) out of 32 NFL teams.

Bucs defense has dropped clear to a tie for 20th in takeaways -- they have 10 total on the season, and four of those came in the fourth quarter of the Saints game. Just six in the other 39 quarters of 2022 season.

Bucs' commitment to the run was clear Sunday -- 10 drives, and Bucs ran on the opening play nine times. Still functionally only had two three-and-outs the entire game. I think it's as much about running off clock, giving defense a rest, put together solid, sustained drives.

That's some Bob Sanders ****.

It's so obvious a thing that I was surprised when people seemed dismissive of the impact. The Bucs are built around having 2 tanks in the middle to stop the run. They play the 2 smaller LBs (David/White) behind that, and they basically run a near-constant nickel/dime package. And, as I've been saying, any team can shut down one DT's effectiveness, in terms of the run game, if that's all they're going against. And, if you can do that to the Bucs, you've got a huge edge because the size difference becomes so impactful.

I get that he was trying to come to the defense of his hand-chosen OC, but Arians picked the wrong time to call out Brady for allegedly bad play. Behind that OL, and with the M*A*S*H unit that has been the receiving corps, TB12's still leading the league in INT percentage and sack percentage.

“When you’re pressing, when you’re worried, that’s what happens,” Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin said on the NFL Network’s broadcast of the game. “(Miller) jumped last week (against the Rams) when he didn’t have to, and he jumped here when he didn’t have to, because he’s pressing and he’s worried.”

Still beats last season, when a lack of targets — not necessarily technique — was Miller’s greatest concern.

Robbed of his raw fleetness by a turf-toe injury, Miller — affectionately known as “Scooter” by teammates — missed seven games and finished the regular season with only five catches...

...“Your toe, something small, you don’t think it’s going to be that big,” Miller said. “But especially for a receiver, it’s everything. My toe and really the inside of my foot was just swelling up. I couldn’t cut, couldn’t push off of it, so really everything I do — especially being a faster guy or an explosive guy — everything was really tough for me.”

Ill-advised leaps aside, Bucs receiver Scotty Miller finally is back on his feet

Although it is at least more interesting than most rankings which pretty much list teams in order of record, with 1 or 2 moved up or down based on a recent big game
You just described every single (non-computer) power ranking in existence. Which is why I say there are few things more worthless than NFL power rankings.

He's also 2nd in passing yards, just behind Mahomes and ahead of Allen and Burrow.

After 25 years of watching Baldichick dump great players I think we could put together a SB team out of his castoffs.
