Sounds like he still has a chance. I'm sympathetic to his desire to further his legacy, I really do get it. But if he seriously loves his wife and kids as much as he claims to, this is a no-brainer.

It depends how you look at it though. Her asking him to give up his profession mid-season seems ridiculous as an ultimatum for their marriage IMO. What is there to prevent her from giving another ultimatum after he begins his post-career profession?

Not to sound like a psychiatrist, but I think we all know his playing career is just the outward symptom of a much deeper problem in their marriage. In other words, it is highly unlikely the marriage continues should he walk away tomorrow if the deeper issue(s) are not resolved. It may be that Brady is looking at those underlying things and believes quitting football won't save his marriage.

I see that point of view. I also see the point of view that it was ridiculous for Tom to agree to retire then unilaterally decide to un-retire. I can see how this ultimatum can be viewed as her being spiteful, but maybe this is where things are at for her.

I can also see how this story could be inaccurate. I think anyone living with Tom as long as she has knows he would not accept being given an ultimatum well at all. All it would do is fire up his competitive side. Her own quoted statements express her concerns but then say he has to live with himself and follow his joy.

I guess we will know in time, because lord do these two like to be in front of a camera and a microphone.

Nothing, nor is there anything from preventing her from ending the relationship, or for him to end the relationship. The ball's in his court now, at least according to this article.

That's one way to see it. Another way to see it is that she has made many sacrifices to keep his career going throughout the relationship, he has achieved GOAT status, and it's time for him to take his chips off the table before he ends up getting hit one too many times. Seriously, she could be doing him a favor here. Yet, still, this story doesn't really ring true to me. She has to know he just isn't going to stop playing in the middle of a season, and that delivering an ultimatum won't work.
