BB knows how to judge CB's- JC Jackson benched for poor play on MNF

Tyquan is just getting started I think RB's Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris are good picks too what a haul. A couple of good Drafts can turn a franchise around for the better.
Absolutely, I'd like to keep Stevenson snaps where they are spilt with Harris, they make an excellent combo of speed ,power and cut back ability.. Thornton is just what we been longing for.. since Moss ran those deep go routes.. when we play the jets I hope Saleh puts sauce on Myers so Thornton is free to run deep.. it's just shaping up to become a potent offense.. Bailey played great, but Macs the starter.. feels good to finally have an offense where teams have to account for... I still say get one more speed demon at receiver either draft or trade..

I am super critical of Bill the GM, but I must give credit where it is due. He is excellent at judging the CB position, which tends to be overpaid in the NFL.

Funny you say that because I almost pointed out that 2019 wasn’t a bad draft either.

I'm glad you didn't.

Oops Part 2: Sorry, didn't see the correction above before I posted my response... Nevermind.

On the contrary, when you posted I hadn't seen my mistake. I think Ashley and I both meant the 2020 draft, not 2019, which certainly didn't approach the last three in quality - and I'm being kind here.

The guy had ankle surgery and hasn't yet bounced back. Somehow that's a tribute to BB's brilliance now.

Only player I feel bill dropped the ball on due to contract negotiations was ty law.. he was great for a few more seasons after he left..

Those failed draft picks were according to reports were bills decisions to not listen to the scouts.. now that it's a collective effort seems the draft is going much better..

Funny he chose to have ankle surgery after he got the chargers contract.. hmmm .. the real issue is the scheme.. he's not a zone corner he's a press man corner.. that's what he excels at.. Flores got the best out of him.. got to give BB credit on not resiging SOME of his players..

He sure did. They were on the brink of a 3 peat and went into 2005 with that crap in the secondary. No replacement for Bruschi when he had a stroke.

Then he let Branch, Givens and McGinest go without replacements. They win in 2006 with those players. This is what contributed to the 10 year drought.

You could argue Aqib Talib was better long term than Revis. I was tired of Talib when he got a 2nd straight boo boo in the AFCCG's and he had said Bill didn't want to re-sign him because he was unreliable. He became iron man for sometime and came back to haunt them in 2015.

Ty is on record saying that in retrospect he should have taken the Patriots offer rather than chasing the last few dollars. He attributed his decision at the time on being young and prideful. BB probably made the mistake of pushing him into a corner where Ty felt his only recourse was to go somewhere else.

I'm not sure what's supposed to be funny about it. And nobody deserves credit for not signing the guy at this point. To repeat: he's coming off of ankle surgery and isn't fully back yet. At best, this thread is premature.

Yes spot on, We were banged up on D that season. We ended being a wildcard and lost to a team in Denver we always seemed to have issued with back then..

2006 defense was stout, Rodney at safety, Samuel at corner, Randal gay ellis hobbs. Sanders.. solid d depth.. we folded in the AFC championship game at colts, that one still stings right up there with 2007.. but your right aqib came into the league from college with hamstring issues wich hampered him his whole career.

He got hurt in both AFC championship games wich in '13 and '12 I believe Bill did tell him that he wasn't reliable.. however he went to a pretty stacked Denver defense and he was the key piece. If we can continue to stack wins and put ourselves in the 7th spot I like our chances..

Like he did with Payton, Bill needs to Crack the Josh Allen code.. something has to give he's been lighting us up the last few times.. double Diggs and make him beat us with 3rd and 4th receivers.

Who said anything about it being funny? Are u his agent? His spokesperson? So why are u so defensive relax it's a post.. I said it's FUNNY meaning odd he chose to have ankle surgery AFTER his contract.. do you read or do u skim...

You

And there's nothing funny about it. It's not as if he'd just signed his deal the week before opting for surgery.

I read your post. It was just bad, all around.

Your right! I did hear that In an interview from ty law himself at his hall of fame induction, he spoke on that! Ty resigns, and many forget willie left in 06 as well. If we were able to keep those 2 guys we most definitely win in 07 hands down!!

You

And there's nothing funny about it.
u gotta be kidding right.. funny not meaning laughter meaning odd.. that's what I meant and it's factual not my opinion.. he must've taken the advice of his agent, take the chargers contract then have the ankle. surgery.. furthermore if he's still recovering then why not on PUP, IR? Of course that affects a DBs play.. however LA plays zone that's not JCs game he said it himself..

What's bad about it? It's a truthful statement.. why don't u try to educate yourself on sports and speak when you know what your talking about..

I just saw a highlight of the play this am , at first it did not look bad but he must have twisted or torn something. Sad to see.

The Chargers have been, until this season at least, a man coverage team under Brandon Staley. The figure has dropped this year I believe and they are playing more zone and off coverage, but JC has still largely played man

The Pats did and still do play a higher amount of man than the Chargers, but it's not an enormous difference. From what I've read in one place, it seems he's been in man 42.2% of the time this year - last year with us, it was 46.7%.

It really does seem to be a combination of the injury and likely some slight nuances in the scheme.
