Zappe's Stats Through Three Games

Nor should bill give up on his "prize draft pick" yet.

Mac had a great rookie year followed by a rough 1-3 start. You give him an opportunity. If he doesn't improve you have zappe waiting.
Mac is going to crumble.

He does not have an NFL arm. The Bears defense is pretty good.

Exactly BB

Mac is back for the Bears. BB wont give up on his prize draft pick like that. Wynn is still here and he stinks. BB gave that slug his 4th year option money. Harry was on the team a week prior to his 4th training camp.
You are being really weird about this. Bill will play the qb he thinks will help the team win. He lost his job in Clevland because he did this, and he did it again here with Brady and Bledsoe. This is probably the most idiotic take you have had, and that is a really really high bar.

Uh, 1-2. He didn't play against Green Bay

He throws a better deep ball than zappe...
When?

3 Mac deep passes that were all alike.

1. The INT to Agahlor vs Buffalo Wildcard.
2 The INT to Parker vs Miami 2022.
3 The TD to Agahlor vs Pitt 2022.

Every throw lacked arm strength and I see zero change from last season after all this work with Tom House. Macs long arching passes hang in the air and give NFL DBs too much time react. Zappe makes throws to where his man is the only one with a play on the ball. Mac throws into double and sometimes triple coverage hoping for the best outcome.

Let Zappe throw deep at the endzone 3 times and the debate will be settled. I watch other QBs throw deep in front of their receiver in stride. I have yet to see Mac overthrow any receiver deep. Mac will throw behind his man like clockwork.

BBs exact words when the media questioned him about Bledsoe getting his job back.

When BB is asked about Jones, he chuckles. Mac is back for Chicago.

If he is it is because he thinks Mac is better at this stage of his career than Zappe is. Playing crappy teams can give a false sense of how good a team/player is. Bill also looks at what a personel decision does to the team overall.

In the end, I hope they end up being the best two qb's evah and we end up trading the lesser of the two for multiple first round draft pics we use to cement the dynasty for the next multiple decades.

You could make the case that over the course of the three games it appears that the game is "slowing down" for Zappe. While the competition at Western Kentucky wasn't the SEC, neither was he throwing to first round draft picks either... He has proven so far that he can play in the NFL and play well which can't be said for many of the rookie QBs in the last few years
Will Bill sick with Zappe or go back to Mac? I don't have a clue but I am more optimistic about this team than I was three weeks ago...knowing that we have 2 QBs...

Pretty clear who the better passer is in every category.

The defense scored TDs in the last two games and delivered 4 turnovers yesterday. How much of Zappe's "success" can be attributed to that? He is playing well, but he held the ball a little long a few times and his grounding call costs the Pats a sure FG. He needs to be mindful of the situation and should have thrown the ball away there.
Were you watching the game or just listening to it? He *did* try to throw the ball away. He needed to get outside the pocket first, which he did, but he didn’t throw it hard enough so the ball never reached the line of scrimmage. Blame a lack of arm strength for that one, not his decision making — he did exactly the right thing there.

Taking a sack would have been a better decision in this case, so no, he didn't make the correct decision. Losing 5 yds vs 10 yds was not right.

No, taking a sack was not the best decision because he had the opportunity to get out of the pocket and throw it away. And he did that. He didn’t throw it away strongly enough. That’s on him. He made the right decision, he just executed it poorly.

I read that but I think it was first 2 starts.

I believe he had 100 rating vs GB so it stands to reason this might be correct too but without checking facts there could be some anomaly where someone else did it in three games a rookie and didn't start them.
game 1 107, game 2 100, game 3 118 qb rating.

Can a 4th round QB outperform a 1st round QB?

Zappe has just done so. But very small sample size and against much weaker competition than what Mac faced.

Who knows he was turning the ball over a lot. I think Mac should still be the starter, but it's good to know you can win games with Zappe

The defenses early on were of a higher caliber and I think they were trying to spread the offense out more with Mac, but yea his turnovers have been a huge issue and Zappe has managed to be productive without turning it over (minus the 1 INT he has that wasn't his fault)

Im becoming a fan of Zappe, having a fierce QB competition only benefits the Pats. May the best QB win!

Zappe has done an excellent job so far

There is also the question of how is the mood in the locker room? That counts.

If the team has gel and found a unity with Zappe and the players want to continue with Zappe, it could force the hand of the coach.

In my opinion, Zappe look more likable than Mac.

Mac seems well liked by the team, i dont think that will be a factor
