Bruce Allen had a nice breakdown on the fact that most of the players drafted all have a pretty solid handle on the NFL:

Brissett seems like he could easily become the next former Patriots backup QB to successfully coach in the NFL.

He missed Major Applewhite who signed as a UDFA but then decided to pursue coaching instead.

Yes, however most of these guys sucked as players. They went on to succeed in different careers but most of these guys never helped the New England patriots win football games

Are Kingsbury and O’Connell considered part of BB’s “coaching tree” when that’s being discussed? Or is the coaching tree just those who coached on his staff?

In other words, none of these players were better than TB12. Many did help the team as backups.
In other words…none of these guys other than Matt Cassel & Jimmy G went on to become even average NFL Starters …Cassel and Jimmy G success with other teams were short lived given they were not physically talented quarterbacks and needed great offensive coaches (SF, KC) and great weapons to help them succeed on other teams

Mac is definitely the best quarterback we drafted since Brady and he has the goods to succeed if we provide him with better weapons

Staff. BB’s coaching tree is made up of his minions Mangina, Mcdaniels, Flores , Judge and Matty P who failed miserably at other programs

Hopefully Brissett validates that statement next Sunday by playing below the level of an average NFL starting QB.

We all know what he is. A career backup who is a placeholder for Deshaun Watson

where's my boy Edelman ....

I have absolutely zero recollection of us ever drafting/having a guy named Zac Robinson

You said none of these QBs added value to the Pats. I don't agree, sorry.

Coaching tree are made up of coaches, not players.

Rohan Davey, Kevin O'Connell and Ryan Mallett were worthless picks. You can also make a case for Jimmy G as well.

One should imagine a similar breakdown of WR's would show... a breakdown

Drafted 2 WRs that went onto win SB MVP.

Imagine someone walking up to Bill when he was telling Welker about getting Wally Pip'd by Edelman, that Edelman will win a SB MVP and will really be a spark plug for 3 more SB victories while Welker will drop a pass that would have won another SB and never win one.

Isn't the NFL draft for players and not potential coaches?

My thoughts. Interesting thread but how many of these guys have actually helped the New England patriots as players ?
